Proving that Dynasty isn’t the only beloved piece of ’80s pop culture worth preserving, RuPaul paid homage to another classic TV series in Friday’s episode of Drag Race All Stars, which ended with the show’s most unexpected lip sync battle yet.
As is tradition, the episode concluded with the week’s top two queens — in this case, Monet X Change and Jinkx Monsoon — competing in a lip sync smackdown. But rather than performing a song, the queens were tasked with lip syncing to the iconic “the night the lights went out in Georgia” monologue from a 1986 episode of the sitcom Designing Women.

Snowboarding guides away, countless nonprofits and source services have particularly long remarked that to teach an ecologically advised culture, they ought to achieve world college adolescents. State tool organizations initiated essay writing exercise teachers in ecological education and learning in 1970s to look at program just like Design Wilderness time for the classroom. And national parks, national woodlands, express parks and the wilderness stations have routinely welcomed high school programs. But even fully commited school teachers struggle to charter a coach, corral 30 children and teenagers and expend each day out of doors. They are so stressful and strapped for cash. Left behind from the education and learning body by itself, backyard training often times tumbles by wayside.

The year now ending marks another 12-month period of losing talents who have given television viewers entertainment or information ... and some of those passings, even more sadly, came as major and untimely shocks. Zap2it remembers:
Paul Walker: The actor best-known for the "Fast & Furious" movies had career roots in such TV shows as "Who's the Boss?" "Highway to Heaven" and "Touched by an Angel."
James Gandolfini: He projected so much older as mobster Tony Soprano, many were surprised to learn the three-time Emmy winner only was in his 30s and 40s when he played the part.
Cory Monteith: As Finn Hudson on "Glee," the Canadian-born performer touched fans of all ages both in life and afterward.

ABC premiered another late edition to their Wednesday comedy lineup with "Family Tools." Kyle Bornheimer portrays Jack Shea, a bumbling doofus with a good heart who returns home to take over his father's handyman business. J.K. Simmons is as crusty as ever as Jack's dad, Tony, who isn't at all keen about his son taking over the family business. But by the end of this pilot, he'd already had two heart attacks, so it was pretty clear he needed to take a step back.
Leah Remini was the mastermind behind the whole thing as Tony's little sister, Terry. After Tony's second heart attack, Terry forces him to have a heart-to-heart with his son, but Tony is a man's man meaning he doesn't really know how to.
He admits he's tougher on Jack because Jack's his son. "Yeah, that’s it. That’s all I got!" Tony said. "I’m not a shrink,...

"Family Tools" -- the new comedy based on UK series "White Van Man" -- premiered Wednesday (May 1) on ABC and we're wondering if you're planning to commit to this home improvement project or if you think the whole thing ought to be condemned?
What did you think of Kyle Bornheimer's ("Perfect Couples") performance as Jack Shea, a goofball ready to prove to his dad Tony (J.K. Simmons, "The Closer") that he has what it takes to step up and take over the family business?
How did you feel about Leah Remini's return to network comedy after "King of Queens" came to an end in 2007, playing Terry, Jack's aunt and Tony's sister -- forcing Jack to relinquish the control of the business by refusing to let the paramedics in to the house to provide aid to Tony during a heart attack?

There’s a five or six year span somewhere around the late ’80s to early ’90s that has become known as a true Golden Age of sitcoms, and if the last two or three years can be said to have one absolute trend, it’s trying to update and recapture the formula that made those shows into the ratings behemoths they were. Not only are there interesting markers of public appeal like the fact that these Golden Age shows are becoming the staples of Nick-at-Nite and TV Land, but the surprisingly popular original programming on TV Land is clearly leading the way when it comes to this revival.
The bigger networks are adding their own efforts that, though decidedly updated in one way or another, aim to explore the possibilities still open by way of the general sensibilities and frameworks that worked so well for shows of the past.

Director, producer, writer and former DGA president Jack Shea, died yesterday of complications from Alzheimer’s in Tarzana, according to his wife Patt Shea. He was 84. Shea, a New York City native, served three terms as Directors Guild of America president from 1997 to 2002. Under his watch, the DGA addressed runaway production, encouraged diversity in hiring, formed an Independent Directors Committee and negotiated landmark deals, including the historic “blended contract.” One of the original organizers and a past president of the Radio and Television Directors Guild (Rtdg), the precursor to the DGA, Shea encouraged the merger of the Rtdg with the Screen Directors Guild in 1960 to form the DGA. In 1992, Shea was awarded the DGA’s Robert Aldrich Award for “40 years of extraordinary service.” His 40-year television directing and producing career included episodes of The Jeffersons, Silver Spoons, The Ropers, Sanford & Son and Designing Women for which he received an Emmy nomination.

ABC has cut the episode order for its forthcoming remake of the UK comedy White Van Man. Family Tools - starring Kyle Bornheimer as handyman Jack Shea - was originally picked up for a run of 13 episodes in May. However, the network has now cut back its order to just ten episodes, Deadline reports. Family Tools will air alongside new Sarah Chalke sitcom How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life) for the 10-week period. The Chalke (more)...

ABC is already shortening one of their new comedy series.
"Family Tools," which is slated to premiere in January 2013 during the 8:30 p.m. slot on Tuesday nights, has been cut down from 13 to 10 episodes after conflicts appeared with scheduling, Deadline.com reports. The midseason comedy is meant to air on Tuesday nights until the return of "Dancing With The Stars," which will premiere its 16th season following Sean Lowe's run on "The Bachelor."
ABC estimated they only need "Family Tools" for 10 weeks before "DWTS" comes back, meaning they will somehow have to find a way to revamp the show, which has already completed its 13 episode-order. The show's companion in the Tuesday 8 p.m. hour will be fellow midseason comedy "How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life)."

Exclusive: ABC has cut the order of midseason comedy series Family Tools from 13 to 10 episodes. Sources close to the network say that the decision was made for scheduling reasons as Family Tools in slated to premiere in January and air Tuesdays at 8:30 Pm, bridging the two cycles of Dancing With the Stars. ABC brass estimated they only need the comedy for 10 weeks before Dancing comes back. Family Tools‘ companion in the Tuesday 8 Pm hour will be fellow midseason comedy How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life). The 20th TV series started production early and has already completed its 13-episode order. It is unclear what ABC will do with the 3 extra episodes. Exclusive: There has been a change at the helm of the upcoming ABC comedy series The Family Tools. Bobby Bowman, who developed the adaptation of the British comedy White Van Man and wrote the pilot, has stepped down as executive producer/showrunner of the series. Veterans Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimiglia (That ’70s Show) have come in as executive producers and new showrunners. I hear the change stems from ABC and ABC Studios’ desire to have someone with showrunner experience steering the series. This is Bowman’s first series as a creator and/or showrunner. He previously worked as a key writer-producer on Greg Garcia’s three comedy series: Yes, Dear, My Name Is Earl and Raising Hope. I hear the network and the studio valued Bowman’s voice on the show and offered him to stay on staff but he chose to step aside and give the new showrunners a clean slate.

ABC‘s slate of new shows for fall has a strange flavor to it, and it’s going to be a bumpy ride. The network has about as many new shows as returning ones (if you count all the midseasons), and a good percentage of the returning offerings are a year old or less, making this look a bit like a rebuilding year.
Not only is it a rebuilding year, but it’s the year of bringing back every actor and actress who ever had a decent run on a show before. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a network’s new season slate that was so crammed with people returning from something else. If you can’t make it good, I suppose, make sure viewers recognize the faces.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the third one announced. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on ABC.
An odd year for the once mighty juggernaut which can still pack 'em in. It had surprise success stories with "Once Upon a Time" and "Revenge", the latter becoming an unexpected international hit, and several shows have gotten renewals despite more modest numbers. Still, with it battling with NBC for the third and fourth position overall, the network has to introduce ten shows over the course of the season in the hope of getting a few stickers.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't be seen include the fashion label dynasty soap "Americana", ABC's update of the 90's "Beauty and the Beast" TV series, the Roland Emmerich-produced thriller "Dark Horse", the...

According to the Official ABC Description: 500 feet beneath the ocean’s surface, the U.S. ballistic missile submarine Colorado receive their orders. Over a radio channel, designed only to be used if their homeland has been wiped out, they’re told to fire nuclear weapons at Pakistan.
Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) demands confirmation of the orders only to be unceremoniously relieved of duty by the White House. Xo Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman) finds himself suddenly in charge of the submarine and facing the same difficult decision. When he also refuses to fire without confirmation of the orders, the Colorado is targeted, fired upon, and hit. The submarine and its crew find themselves crippled on the ocean floor, declared rogue enemies of their own country. Now, with nowhere left to turn, Chaplin and Kendal take the sub on the run and bring the men and women of the Colorado to an exotic island.

ABC is shaking things up for its 2012-2013 schedule.
"Revenge" is heading over to Sunday nights at 9 p.m. Et, the slot the now dead "Desperate Housewives" occupied up until last week. Old standby "Grey's Anatomy" is staying put, as is "Scandal," but they're paired with newcomer "Last Resort."
In a press conference call right after the schedule announcement, ABC Entertainment President nm2712251 autoPaul Lee[/link] said he's not concerned about launching a big action show at 8 p.m. -- especially not "Last Resort," from "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan.
"I have so much faith in Shawn. You get a sense in this job of the showrunners who really know how to drive the train. Don't forget -- we've opened strong action shows at that hour, and certainly there's an audience for it. We believe strongly in the strength of this show. We think it's a big, broad tent show, we believe in it,...
