In Showtime’s new docuseries “Gossip” a recording of Donald Trump pretending to be his own publicist is played; a story about Tom Cruise’s front teeth falling out during a dinner with former New York Post editor-in-chief Col Allen is told; and 91-year-old Cindy Adams defends her past and present friendships with Roy Cohn, Imelda Marcos, John Gotti, Gen. Manuel Noriega and, of course, Trump.
But beyond salacious Page Six stories and Adams’ questionable friendships, “Gossip,” is at its core an examination of power and how Rupert Murdoch fundamentally shifted the foundation of the news industry via the New York Post and its tabloid journalism.
The four-part docuseries explores how New York City’s most prominent gossip columnists – Liz Smith, George Rush, Richard Johnson and Adams – built their careers and used their power.
“Gossip” director-producer Jenny Carchman is no stranger to covering media outlets, having received an Emmy nomination...

The New York Post often runs stories filled with grit, color and melodrama – just the kind of stuff that seems right for TV. Now some of those stories will find their way to a TV network.
Investigation Discovery, the Discovery-owned true-crime TV network, will partner with News Corp.’s New York Post on two new projects. “Torn From The Headlines: The New York Post Reports,” will take viewers behind the headlines of some of New York City’s darkest crimes. “New York Post Reports: Off The Record” will focus on more recent crimes and scandals, and appear on Idgo, the network’s mobile app. It will be hosted by Page Six’s Carlos Greer.
“Torn From The Headlines” will debut on Investigation Discovery on Monday, March 16 at 10 p.m. eastern. “Off The Record” will be available on Idgo on March 30.

The New York Post has launched a new entertainment division focused on scripted and unscripted television.
Veteran TV producer Troy Searer has joined the news organization as president of New York Post Entertainment. He will oversee efforts to develop projects for cable, streaming, broadcast and emerging platforms, tapping into the Post’s store of intellectual property and its newsroom resources.
“It’s a real opportunity,” Jesse Angelo, CEO and publisher of the Post, told Variety. “There is so much hunger for original television content for differentiated IP, for storytellers that have voice, and we have those things. We were able to show some success with ‘Page Six TV’ and show that we could swim in these waters, and we wanted to take it to the next level. We have a couple other deals in development, a couple other projects that we’re working on, and I just realized the time...

Exclusive: One of the most famous personal feuds in the business world — between flamboyant developers Donald Trump and Steve Wynn — is the subject of The War At The Shore, an event series in development at Spike TV from Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti’s Trigger Street Productions. Based on the 2012 book of the same name, the project centers on one of the most intense chapters in the decade-long rivalry, chronicling the five-year multibillion-dollar, bare-knuckled battle between Trump and Wynn over the future of Atlantic City. From 1995-2000, Trump embarked on a all-out legal and propaganda war to prevent Wynn from developing a new resort complex in the New Jersey city. It comes from the perspective of The War At The Shore author Richard D. “Skip” Bronson, who was Wynn’s right-hand man during the fight. The Spike project comes from Trigger Street and Giant Pirates Entertainment. Brunetti, whose producing credits...
