At this year's 17th Annual Stony Brook Film Festival, Peter Miller and William Hechter's documentary about blues singer and songwriter Doc Pomus, "A.K.A. Doc Pomus," took home the Festival's highest honor. The festival ran from July 19th-28th and featured 33 full length and short films from around the world. Whatever you think of Milk, there’s no denying that the Oscar-nominated biopic is putting a long-overdue spotlight on the life of Harvey Milk, allowing much of the mainstream audience to learn about his singular achievements for the very first time.
But why stop there? Now that Milk has proven that stirring gay life stories can appeal to more than just a gay audience, Hollywood should think about making movies about the following legends. We’ll even help them decide which to make first by throwing in a rating of 1-5 Harveys for each story’s eventual Oscar bait-ability. That should help land some big name stars.

Per Production Weekly actresses Susan Sarandon and Helena Bonham Carter have signed on to star in Rolf Schuebel's legal drama Eleanor and Colette. The indie project written by Marc Bruce Rosin centers on a psych ward patient (Sarandon) who seeks the help an attorney (Carter) to build a case against the drug-happy hospital that's been overmedicating her.
