The “Nurse Jackie” sequel series is now in development at Amazon Prime Video with original star Edie Falco set to return, Variety has learned exclusively.
It was first reported in 2023 that a “Nurse Jackie” followup was in the works at Showtime from Lionsgate Television, but the project has now moved to Amazon.
The official logline states, “10 years after we left Jackie Peyton (Falco) clinging to life in the series finale, we find her back on her feet in spite of having lost her nursing license. The continuation of her story will find her facing new dilemmas in trying to be good in a world where being bad is often not only easier, but a lot more fun.”
Liz Flahive and Abe Sylvia serve as writers and executive producers on the sequel series, with both having worked as producers and writers on the original series. Sylvia is also attached to direct.

David Chase's "The Sopranos" absolutely blew audiences' minds when it hit the small screen in 1999. The series followed New Jersey mafioso Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) and his associates as they tried to reconcile their old-world mafia lifestyle with suburban life at the turn of the millennium. The series was often at its best when it put mundanity and mobster business in contrast, and few episodes did it better than "College" from season 1. In the episode, Tony's daughter Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) wants to go look at colleges and her dear old dad takes her. She asks him point blank about his mob life, and he's surprisingly honest with her, though he turns around and lies to her when he's forced to kill a former associate during their little Maine road trip. The episode beautifully sets up Tony's double life, and the cinematography in the episode ended up setting a visual...

Warning: contains spoilers for The Expanse season 4
At the beginning of The Expanse season four, the show’s characters stood at the crossroads of a brave and expansive new world, as did the cast and crew in their new home at Amazon. It was a marriage made in heaven. The Expanse was bigger, slicker, bolder, and grittier, but just as gloriously deep, rich and complex as ever. As season five gets ready to drop, let’s remind ourselves of the ups, downs, ins, outs, fights, smites and subterfuge of season four. We’ll start with the set-up and then look at each of the main locations/groups in turn, leading up to the season’s denouement and planet-busting cliffhanger. Major spoilers, obviously, ahead.

Season three ended with the opening of the mysterious ring gates, and the 1300 habitable systems beyond them. Holden feared the beginning of ‘a blood-soaked...

When asked to diagnose himself early in “Inside the Rain,” Benjamin Glass, a college film student played by Aaron Fisher, cheerfully runs down a checklist: “I’m bipolar, Adhd, Ocd, borderline personality disorder… You name it, I’ve got it.” It’s a moment that is at once both amusing and unsettling — even more so if you’re aware that Fisher, who also wrote, directed and co-edited this offbeat indie dramedy, is describing his own real-life medical condition.
Indeed, knowing all that inevitably influences your response to the entire film, much of which plays like an engagingly freewheeling mix of autobiography and wish-fulfillment. Fisher, an ingratiatingly ordinary-looking fellow who could be plausibly cast as Jason Biggs’ taller and beefier kid brother, commendably refrains from making his cinematic doppelganger easily likable. Especially but not exclusively during Benjamin’s frequent manic episodes, he comes off as almost unbearably obnoxious, if not downright scary.

For more than a decade, superheroes have been a staple of cinema and television. Audiences are thrilled and inspired by an everyman donning spandex to overcome great difficulties and save the day. Nevertheless the majority of superhero films are plagued by one persistent stumbling block: a villain problem. In the McU only the charismatic Loki (Tom Hiddleston), merciless Hela (Cate Blanchett), resentful Vulture (Michael Keaton), and rage-filled Killmonger (Michael B Jordan) were more than thinly defined enigmas of evil. Whilst the DC film universe has opted to embrace CGI ‘Big Bads’ that appear out of nowhere during the third act. It’s fair to say that neither universe has succeeded in creating villains as complex or endearing as their heroic counterparts.

When this catches the attention of Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) Castle finds himself once again hunting down the people behind his family’s death, as it seems his vengeance was ended a little prematurely.

The latest Marvel-based Netflix series came out this week, continuing the adventures of gun-toting vigilante Frank Castle, Aka the Punisher. The character was popular when he appeared in Daredevil. Does the Punisher fare as well in his own series? (Spoilers below.)
The Punisher is the sixth Marvel Netflix series (Following Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Defenders) and it’s probably the most controversial, since it deals not only with Ptsd and the treatment of war veterans, it also touches on the gun control debate. Beyond all that, this is an action shoot-em-up. It’s surprisingly dark and violent for a Marvel comics adaptation, but the Netflix shows are quite different from what you’ll see in Thor: Ragnarok.
The Punisher is once again seeking answers to day of the shooting that led to the death of his family. This was dealt with in Daredevil season 2, but it’s expanded upon here,...

With The Punisher finally about to drop on Netflix next month, a few more promo images for the upcoming Marvel series have appeared online today – which we’ve put together in the gallery below for your viewing pleasure. They’re an interesting collection, too, as the stills highlight Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) at various different stages in his life.
For instance, one image sees him looking pretty down while chatting with Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, who we recently learned wasn’t always set to appear in the show. In this particular scene, Frank’s sporting shaggy hair and a beard. Whatever Karen says to him seems to do the trick, though – or makes him worse, depending on your viewpoint – as other images see a clean-shaven Frank back in business as the Punisher.

But thanks to the show’s official Twitter account, which has channeled Castle’s raw, world-weary attitude close to perfection, today brings forth four all-new images for The Punisher, teasing old friends (Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen) and new enemies (Paul Schulze’s William Rawlins). A new trailer for Marvel/Netflix's latest superhero series, The Punisher, has dropped! While we never get tired of seeing Frank Castle on the warpath, this trailer shows us something we hadn't seen yet, a release date.
Netflix has graced us with yet another bloody trailer for Marvel's The Punisher series. The previous few gave us a good idea at how brutal the series was going to be, but today's gave us two things we hadn't had yet. A little bit of exposition and an official release date.
November 17, while great that it's close, feels like a missed opportunity on Netflix's part. If they had released the series a week earlier, on the 10th, they'd have released it on the Marine Corp. birthday. Considering Frank Castle was a former Marine, this would've been very timely.
Nevertheless, the Marine Corp. will get to eat their cake on 10th and have it...

Marvel’s sixth Netflix series, “The Punisher,” has been scheduled to premiere on November 17. The series is based on the Marvel Comics character, whose Mo for vigilante justice involves an intense amount of guns and plenty of vendettas.
A New York Comic-Con event featuring “The Punisher” was originally planned for earlier in the month before being canceled following the tragic mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday, October 1.
“The Punisher,” a spin-off from Season 2 of “Daredevil,” “The Punisher” details the life of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), a former U.S. Marine Captain who came out blazing after the murder of his wife and child. Then, Castle emblazoned the symbol of a death’s head on his body armor and waged a one-man war upon crime as the Punisher.

Netflix has just released the full trailer for Marvel's The Punisher, and holy freakin' shit! This series looks insanely great! This first trailer is powerful, brutal, and awesome. I can't wait to see this series! It looks like it could be the best of the Netflix Marvel series so far. Just wait until you watch this trailer! There's no way Marvel and Disney would have given us a film that is as hardcore as this series looks. This is going to be the proper adaptation that The Punisher deserves.

Netflix has released a collection of photos from Marvel's upcoming series The Punisher featuring Frank Castle, Karen Page, and several other characters. I also included a new promo spot that was released that highlights a major cover up. It came along with the caption, "How deep does the cover up go?"

Empire has released a new photo from Marvel’s upcoming series The Punisher. It gives us a look at Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) as a U.S. Marine in a time prior to him becoming the vengeful vigilante. What we are seeing here is a glimpse of a flashback scene in which we will learn more about Frank's past and the traumatic events that helped to shape his turn into The Punisher.
When talking about the killing spree that Frank Castle will go on in the solo series, Bernthal explains:
“It’s the only thing that silences the demons, temporarily. There’s going to be an attempt to move beyond the Punisher, but that’s something he can’t shake. There’s part of me that’s hungry to get back into the darkness, that’s excited to see it fall apart.”

Marvel has released a new teaser trailer for The Punisher and it offers us a look at the supporting cast of the series. It comes with the caption:
"Friends. Enemies. Frank Castle. 'Marvel's The Punisher' is coming soon."
So, we still don't know when exactly The Punisher series will be released, but it's been rumored that it could premiere in November, which would be soon. The official Twitter account for the series also sent out thirteen mysterious messages in Morse code, which EW has translated and it seems like they are the titles of the episodes:
1: “3 Am”
2: “Two Dead Men”
3: “Kandahar”
4: “Resupply”
5: “Gunner”
6: “The Judas Goat”
7: “Crosshairs”
8: “Cold Steel”
9: “Front Toward Enemy”

This new photo of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher is the best image yet of him in the role. It's the most Punisher looking image of Bernthal as The Punisher that I've seen! Damn! He looks badass!
Marvel released the first trailer for the upcoming Punisher solo series last week, that you can watch here in case you missed it. I can't wait to see see this character back in action!
Bernthal is joined by Ben Barnes as Billy Russo a.k.a. Jigsaw, who is Castle’s best friend from his days in the Special Forces. He runs a successful private military corporation called “Anvil”. The series also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Micro, a former Nsa analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle and everyone around them; and Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, a highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent who is vexed by the Punisher.

Following the premiere of Marvel's The Defenders, Netflix has released the teaser trailer for The Punisher. This gives us an intense first look at the highly-anticipated series, which sees Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle take his frustrations out on a concrete floor with a sledge hammer. The trailer also features brief clips giving us a glimpse into Castle's past involving his family and his time in the military. One this that the trailer makes clear is that "he's coming to collect."
I love Bernthal's version of The Punisher and I can't wait to see this series that will put the focus on him and tell his story.

There's an excitement for Marvel's upcoming new Netflix series The Punisher. We recently shared a poster for the series, and now today we know when it's going to premiere! According to one of the director's of the series Dearbhla Walsh, The Punisher will be released in November! During an interview with THR, Walsh said:
“[I’ve directed] one other time that hasn't been aired yet, which was an episode for the new Marvel series The Punisher, which I did just before Christmas, but it's not airing until November.“I directed that in New York and edited in L.A., but this was my first directing experience in lovely Canada.”
Sounds like this is a bit of information that she may have let slip on accident. Marvel hasn't released an official release date yet, but it's looking like November in the month fans will get to see Frank Castle go ballistic and destroy people in his solo series.

Perhaps one of the greatest and indeed surprising encounters in Daredevil season 2 was the moment when Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle was thrown in jail, only to strike up an unlikely alliance with Kingpin, the criminal overlord played close to perfection by Vincent D’Onofrio.
That nail-biting tension culminated in a good old-fashioned brawl between the two villains, leading to The Punisher escaping back onto the streets of Hell’s Kitchen. It’s here that we expect Netflix’s planned solo series to kick into gear, but given the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Frank Castle’s clash with Kingpin, one might assume that the Powers That Be at Marvel and Netflix would find a workaround to ensure Vincent D’Onofrio reprises as the mob boss later this year. Sadly, that’s not the case, with D’Onofrio debunking those rumors via Twitter.
