- At the age of 15, Deborah met director Elia Kazan at The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mr. Kazan urged Deborah to come to Hollywood.
- Studied acting with Jeff Corey from 1973-1975.
- Mentored as a screenwriter by the late Blake Edwards.
- Directed her first feature film at the age of 31.
- Optioned the first screenplay she ever wrote at the age of 28.
- In the middle of a successful writing career, Deborah stopped pursuing studio writer-for-hire assignments or "development hell" as they call it to study the art of writing and hone her craft as a screenwriter. She has never regretted the decision.
- Published Vincent the Artist - Book One - Vincent leaves Home, a children's book based on her feature film screenplay.
- Created United Angels, a nonprofit Initiative aimed at healing the planet.
