"What are your plans for the summer?" Good Deed Entertainment has released a teaser trailer for an indie romantic comedy called Love... Reconsidered, opening in theaters in February. Another indie romance film they're trying to get out in time for Valentine's Day, if anyone will watch it then. Ruby is a thirty and flirty (but definitely not thriving) New Yorker whose life is transferred to the Hamptons right after a chance meeting with a wealthy consignment store owner. She learns all kinds of crazy things about love when she moves out to Long Island to run this store. In the end, it is through her resiliency of spirit, a flavorful local community, and rejection of the seemingly rich and powerful that she finds the true prize: herself. Starring Sophie Von Haselberg as Ruby, Colton Haynes, Luke Gulbranson, Jill Kargman, Jon Lemmon, Javier Muñoz, and Marisa Ryan. Yet another extra short...

I have never been the biggest fan of the original ‘Wet Hot American Summer‘. Although it has attained cult status over the years, I never found the film to be memorable as others do. In fact, when Netflix revived the franchise a little over two years ago with an eight episode prequel series titled “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp“, I pretty much had the same feeling. With the latest entry in the revival, “Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later“, we finally get a true sequel to the original. And the premise is simple: the campers and counsels of camp firewood reunite a decade later to fulfill their promise made in the first film. Hilarity ensues. But the question still remains; does it follow the aforementioned trend of it’s predecessors? Well, the simple answer is no–but the more complicated answer, is inevitably yes.

Wet Hot American Summer was a 2001 comedy from David Wain (Role Models, The State, Stella) set in 1981 and starring Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Showalter, Marguerite Moreau, Paul Rudd, Zack Orth, Christoper Meloni, A.D. Miles, Molly Shannon, Ken Marino, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Jon H. Benjamin and Amy Poehler. If that sounds like an A-List cast, that's because many of the current stars in the group were not so famous or in demand at the time. The film focused on these counselors on the last day of camp at Camp Firewood, one of the jokes being that all the actors were playing well under their age range.
Then, fourteen years later in 2015, Netflix released a prequel in the form of a TV series, making the ages of the cast even more ridiculous, in typical Wain fashion. Joining the original, now star-studded cast in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp...

Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper and roughly a million other stars go back to Camp Firewood in Netflix's latest comedy series...
It’s been a long road back to Camp Firewood.
It seems that ever since the release of the original Wet Hot American Summer movie back in 2001, writers David Wain and Michael Showalter have been teasing the idea of a reunion. However, given that the film featured a cast which included Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd - each only a fraction as famous at the time as they are now - the idea fast became a dangled carrot which seemed to get further and further from anyone’s grasp. It was going to take a Goliath to make it happen.
Enter Netflix, who in January announced (following a long period of speculation) that it would be stumping up the cash to get the band back together.

The incredible news came out this week that Netflix picked up a Wet Hot American Summer TV series. "After months of deal-making and prep work, I've learned that filming has started this week on an 8-episode limited series," Deadline Hollywood reported, "with virtually its entire ensemble cast returning."
After the initial shock and excitement faded, some basic questions have come up. They began filming this week? It was famously cold when they filmed the original, but if they're back at Camp Towanda in Honesdale, Pennsylvania it's about 10 degrees Fahrenheit and probably covered in snow.

Netflix made lots of Wet Hot American Summer fans very happy when it announced it would revive the camp counselor film by David Wain as a miniseries. Now, the streaming video-on-demand service has reportedly started production with most of the film’s original cast on board.
If a report from Deadline is to be believed, Wain and Wet Hot film co-writer Michael Showalter have managed to re-unite the ensemble cast to reprise their original roles. In an interview with Crave back in June 2014, Showalter said he and Wain “wouldn’t have wanted to [bring back Wet Hot American Summer] if we couldn’t get everybody.”
Apparently, Showalter and Wain “did their due diligence” and managed to align the schedules of most of the cast from the 2001 film. Netflix’s 8-episode limited series will see fan favorites grace the (albeit more digital) screen, such as Elizabeth Banks, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Michael Ian Black, Judah Friedlander,...

"Hunger Games" and "Pitch Perfect" actress Elizabeth Banks is no stranger to locking lips with ladies (look no further than her unscripted kiss with Marisa Ryan in "Wet Hot American Summer"), but she's never actually played a full-on lesbian character -- or at least not one who's out and proud.
In a recent interview with Advocate, Banks joked, "I don't think I have [played a lesbian] -- although Effie Trinket in 'The Hunger Games' might be gay. My vision of the Capitol is pansexual like ancient Rome, where everybody's doing everybody."
Despite her character's outrageous Capitol attire, Banks doubts Effie is a drag queen. "I think [author] Suzanne Collins created the character to be nurturing and mothering in her own way, so she's probably a woman," she mused. "But I definitely saw a lot of drag Effies last Halloween in West Hollywood!"

Los Angeles, July 13: Actress Elizabeth Banks, who admits she has kissed female co-actors in the past, says she would love to lock lips with actress Emma Stone.
"Angelina Jolie is always super hot, and Christina Hendricks is pretty ridiculous. But I think I would have a lot of fun with Emma Stone. I've definitely made out with a few girls in my time," femalefirst.co.uk quoted Banks as saying.
The 39-year-old also said that she kissed "Wet Hot American Summer" co-star Marisa Ryan in the comedy when it wasn't even in the script.
"With Marisa in 'Wet Hot American Summer', that kiss wasn't scripted. It was the second-to-last.

Law & Order star Jeremy Sisto has wed his fiancee Addie Lane in a very low-key ceremony in New York.
The couple exchanged vows at City Hall in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday with only their four-month-old daughter Charlie and her nanny present.
The pair didn't even dress up - Sisto opted for a casual shirt and ripped jeans, while Lane donned a simple dress for the nuptials.
The newlyweds were spotted coming out of City Hall's marriage bureau by an onlooker who expressed how happy he was for the couple, prompting the bride to coo, "We are the ones who are happy."
The marriage is Sisto's second - he divorced Marisa Ryan, his wife of nine years, in 2002.

On the pilot casting front, Donal Logue, Marisa Ryan and W. Earl Brown have been tapped for HBO's drama pilot 1%, while Rosamund Pike and Marcia Gay Harden have joined CBS' drama pilot presentation The Tower.
Additionally, Amy Jo Johnson has come on board CBS' 13-episode drama Flashpoint.
"1%" is set at the Carefree, Ariz., chapter of one of the toughest motorcycle clubs in the country, the Death Rangers. Logue will play the lead, Misfit, a Silicon Valley member who is sent to the troubled chapter to bring it under control. Brown will play Sailor, a good-hearted member of the Carefree chapter. Ryan, repped by McGowan Management, will play Montana, the wife of another club member.
Logue (Ghost Rider) is repped by CAA and manager Perri Kipperman.
Tower, from CBS Par, revolves around a group of Chicago reporters who treat breaking news as cases to be investigated and solved. The British-born Pike ("Pride & Prejudice") will play the paper's political reporter. Oscar winner Harden, most recently seen in Into the Wild, will play its new owner.

Winner of the audience feature award at the 1999 Slamdance festival, Adam Abraham and Gibson Frazier's "Man of the Century" is a swell cinematic scoop, featuring Frazier as a peppy, fast-talking journalist who appears to have popped out of a time machine from the 1920s. Screened by the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City, Utah, in an evening showcasing Slamdance winners, "Man" looked fabulous on the big screen.
While an adventuresome distributor might enjoy limited success with the swinging black-and-white farce, cable and festival playdates are a natural for this dizzy decade-bender.
Philadelphia-native Abraham's enthusiasm for the gab and garb of the Roaring Twenties is infectious, and with Frazier he has created a winning character surrounded by believable contemporary gals and guys in a tricky gambit that works like a charm.
Johnny Twennies (Frazier) writes a column for the lowly Sun-Telegram, a New York rag with a kindly but pressured editor who reluctantly gives the lead one last chance to break a major story or lose his job. Johnny's SoHo art-dealer girlfriend (Susan Egan) also gives him several chances to seduce her, but such things as 1990's increasingly lurid journalism and recreational sex are not part of his anachronistic persona and ethics (he doesn't drink alcohol because he believes prohibition is still in effect).
One glimpse of his mother, who is a 19th-century society matron straight out of an Edith Wharton book, and no further explanation of Johnny is required. He's just Johnny, with his three-piece suit, hat and post-World War I optimism, able to handle any emergency and insult with boundless energy and snappy comebacks.
In the course of the movie, Johnny is hounded by hapless thugs who try to force him to write a favorable column about their boss, resulting in the uncovering of a scandal. Occasionally sidetracked in the ensuing zaniness, he always has time to lead an impromptu musical number, or fidget the digit in his colorful parlance.
Many memorable characters come and go on the fly, with the fine cast filled out by the likes of Bobby Short, Marisa Ryan, Anthony Rapp, Frank Gorshin, Brian Davies and Dwight Ewell.
With homages to silent cinema throughout and such icons as Harold Lloyd in imaginative sequences, "Man of the Century" is a labor of love that pays off for those who appreciate vintage clothes, music and set designs. From Zeljka Pavlinovic's slick production design and Claudia Hill's natty costumes to Matthew Jensen's excellent cinematography and Frank Reynold's sharp editing, the film is visually the equal of Abraham and Frazier's delightful screenplay.

Aside from the lead being a young woman with a questing soul and loose agenda, the upbeat "Love Always" is only fitfully involving as it reworks the road-movie genre along gender lines but is short on engaging humor or compelling drama.
Lead Marisa Ryan ("Slaves to the Underground") has plenty of energy and presence, but debut filmmaker Jude Pauline Eberhard only partly succeeds with the episodic scenario based on co-writer Sharlene Baker's novel "Finding Signs". Released by Legacy, "Love Always" needs strong word-of-mouth and good reviews to make an impact, but the forecast is not promising.
Julia Bradshaw (Ryan) has a serious boyfriend in Spokane, Wash., but she's not ready to settle down. On the loose in San Diego, she goes on acting auditions with best friend Mary Ellen Moon Zappa) and the latter's boyfriend (James Victor). Into taking chances and seeking adventure, Julia hits the trail again with the goal of seeing her lonely beau Michael Reilly Burke), who sends her a postcard and proposes.
She hitches a ride with a speed freak (Doug Hutchison) who abandons her at a rest stop, where she's helped out by a middle-aged woman (Beth Grant) who is transporting life-size ceramic cows to a farm near Spokane. Impish but guileless, Julia accidentally breaks one of the cows and reluctantly agrees to fetch a replacement in Las Vegas.
So near to her potential future, Julia is now far away when she's stranded in Vegas. She makes a few calls and learns she's to be maid of honor at Mary Ellen's wedding in Boston. As luck would have it, she makes the next leg of her journey in a van with members of an all-woman rock band, the Virgin Sluts.
After the wedding, Julia once again sets out for Spokane, but her first ride is a friend's older brother (Jerry O'Donnell), who makes a lunge for her. Julia's woes are short-lived. She's rescued by an AWOL Marine (Aaron Kuhr) and they soon get in an accident, but through this calamity she meets David (Tracy Fraim), a genuine catch who soothes her and makes love to her.
Faced with a lifetime of such adventures or the love of a good guy, Julia is a free spirit and touches the lives of those she meets, but her own transformation is barely noticeable. Ryan is equal to the overall buoyant mood of the work, although there are several overlong sequences cut to music in which she's merely along for the ride.
