- Stereoscopic Imaging Consultant John A. Rupkalvis is currently CEO of StereoScope International, which he founded in 1972, and Vice President of StereoMed, Inc., which he co-founded in 1978. He has served numerous clients in the motion picture and television industries, offering extremely experienced consultation on stereoscopic (three dimensional, or "3-D") imaging acquisition and display for producers and exhibitors.
One of his first professional projects was an interactive 3-D television virtual reality system built for the University of Minnesota in 1972.
His StereoScope special effects cinematography system (both 35mm & 70mm), the StereoScope SD, HD, and Super HD television systems, the StereoScope animation and title production system, the StereoScope 2-D to 3-D conversion system, the StereoScope computer graphics system, the StereoScope autostereoscopic system, as well as several proprietary systems were all designed and developed.
