With Covid resurgence meaning that only the naughty are likely to risk large gatherings this holiday season, there will be even more reliance on home-viewing comfort food in the vein of “The Princess Switch: Switched Again.” Bringing back the same director, writers and lead actors from Netflix’s original 2018 success, this pleasant sequel provides the updated “Prince and the Pauper” conceit a new wrinkle in giving star Vanessa Hudgens yet a third lookalike character to play.
Though inevitably the formula wears a little thinner in spots this time, it’s a frothy fantasy that should satisfy viewers’ itch for confectionary-looking Christmas fluff. Netflix premieres the feature worldwide Nov. 19, and it should provide them with a year-end programming staple for some time to come.
As erstwhile Chicago baker Stacy (Hudgens) reminds us in opening-credits voiceover, when last seen she’d wound up a princess by catching the eye of Prince Edward...

Vanessa Hudgens is a triple threat in the new trailer for Netflix’s “The Princess Switch 2: Switched Again,” set to premiere on Nov. 19.
In “The Princess Switch” sequel, Hudgens will not only reprise her lead roles of Duchess Margaret and Princess Stacy, but also portray a third doppelganger, Margaret’s cousin Fiona. When Margaret unexpectedly inherits the throne to Montenaro, she also finds trouble in her long-distance relationship with her boyfriend, Kevin. Princess Stacy of Belgravia comes to the rescue, stepping in to help save the Duchess’ relationship.
“After I read it I thought, ‘Ooh man, this is going to be a lot of work,'” Hudgens told Entertainment Weekly. “Three of me? Me, myself, and I! I was very excited to create yet another character and had such a blast doing so. I was told they wrote in a new character but I had no idea how much fun it would actually be.

Netflix dropped the trailer for “The Princess Switch 2” on Monday, revealing not one, not two, but three royally fantastic roles for Vanessa Hudgens in the follow-up to the streaming service’s 2018 holiday movie. And with triple the fun what could go wrong? Well, a lot, apparently.
In the trailer for “The Princess Switch: Switched Again,” which you can view via the video above, Stacy (Hudgens) is determined to get Margaret (also Hudgens) back together with her former lover Kevin by pulling yet another switch. It looks like the plan might actually be working until Margaret’s cousin Fiona (the third Hudgens) shows up and begins plotting to steal her crown.

"I think we were destined to run into each other." Netflix has released an official trailer for another switch-places cute comedy titled The Princess Switch, starring Vanessa Hudgens in the two main roles. The romantic comedy is about Margaret, the gorgeous Duchess of Montenaro, who switches with a "commoner" from Chicago. With the assistance of a magical Santa's helper, Margaret falls in love with Stacy's handsome co-worker, while Stacy falls in love with Margaret's fiance, the dashing Prince. This reminds me a bit of the concept for the holiday romance The Holiday, also about people who switch then fall in love. Gibson drew on this experience to star in Summer of Dreams, a TV movie that will premiere on the Hallmark Channel on Aug. 27.

With Major Balleseros left for dead, and Dr. Farragut discovering that Doreen was murdered, last week’s events proved more clearly than ever that the Cdc could not rely on anyone telling them the truth. The discovery of Dr. Hvit proved that the facility had a lot of secrets that went beyond the nature of the virus. This week’s episode delves into some darker secrets being hidden, in a strong episode that brings Dr. Farragut and Dr. Jordan up to speed while introducing new elements into the mix.
The presence of Anana is an intriguing new wrinkle, particularly in its implications. While other scientists have expressed a fear of Dr. Hatake and the facility before, there’s never been any indication that the people at...

Eureka, Season 5, Episode 4, “Friendly Fire”
Written by Amy Berg
Directed by Mike Rohl
Airs Mondays at 9pm Et on SyFy
Things mostly get back to normal on Eureka as the main characters work together to resolve the case-of-the-week. “Friendly Fire” has the perfect mix of sci-fi, drama, and comedy that has kept Eureka a consistently entertaining show for several years.
This week’s major issue involves a fiery element created by minor character Dr. Parrish (Wil Wheaton) that escapes the labs and attacks heat-emitting sources throughout town. It turns out all of the characters who were tapped into the Matrix in the previous few episodes are continuing to emit “zeta waves” in their brain which are having negative effects on things like the fiery element and Carter’s house S.A.R.A.H. It is unclear at this point whether these residual zeta waves are internally dangerous, but they...

Eureka, Season 5, Episode 3, “Force Quit”
Written by Terri Hughes Burton and Ron Milbauer
Directed by Mike Rohl
Airs Mondays at 9pm Et on SyFy
The three-part arc that has found the Astraeus crew trapped in a virtual world comes to a predictable conclusion this week as the crew is rescued. Though the impending results are obvious, “Force Quit” is still an exciting episode that moves at a rigorous pace.
Beverly comes to Eureka to help Carter, Henry, and Lupo find the captives. Carter taps into the Matrix where he must cause a system overload that would help Henry and Lupo trace the signal and find the crew. Inside the Matrix, Carter convinces Zane, Allison, Grace, and Fargo that he is the real Carter and they are trapped in a virtual world. They work together to blow up the virtual Astraeus, causing a spike in the Matrix that crashes the system.

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 7, Episode 17 of The CW's "Supernatural," entitled "The Born-Again Identity."
Demons and angels and ghosts, oh my!
From what I've observed in our comments sections and via Twitter over the past few months, Castiel's return has been heralded with both anticipation and dread, depending on which part of fandom you occupy. But to me, "The Born-Again Identity" exemplified all the things that "Supernatural" does best: emphasizing the brotherly bond that holds the show together; highlighting the excellence of the supporting characters; showcasing the dramatic chops of its actors; and proving that an emotional through-line is all it really takes to make a story resonate. The episode didn't overtly advance the overarching leviathan plot (although it was clearly laying necessary groundwork for stories to come). It instead focused on our characters' internal struggles, reminding us that no matter how dire the circumstances,...

The clock, as well as this season, is running haywire in "Supernatural’s" latest episode, "Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie." Here, Sam and Dean have to deal with some strange magic where half the story is told in flashback. The jumping around is fine as a narrative structure, and if that is supposed to mean something, not many viewers will think it’s related to the fact that the Winchesters are still a fixed point in time even when they are miles apart.
With this episode, Sam has to face his darkest fear alone. Dean has to contend with a silent avenger—with his own set of problems—who may be lurking about in Plucky’s, a Chuck E. Cheese-style entertainment parlor.
With this episode, the emphasis is more about character development than the lackluster comedy. The brothers are obviously being prepped for the grand finale.

This week, on Supernatural: Sam has fun with clowns, Dean embraces his inner child, and as ever, childhood fears are out to kill everyone.
For the second week in a row, Supernatural embraces the standalone and benefits from doing so. There is a brief mention at the top of the previous week’s events along with a plot-necessitated pay phone (seriously- when was the last time you actually saw a pay phone booth?) and call to Frank reminding everyone of the overall thread with the Leviathans and Dick Roman in particular. After learning that Fred Savage is a Leviathan (What would Winnie say?!?), we move on to the case of the week- death by octopus. On land. This is a...

Laura Prudom: 'Supernatural' Recap: Sam Faces His Fears In 'Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie'
Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Season 7, Episode 14 of The CW's "Supernatural," entitled "Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie."
Choosing to follow a mythology-based or emotionally heavy episode with a light, frivolous one is the "Supernatural" way, and your enjoyment of said filler episode is generally dependent on whether you're a fan of the monster-of-the-week format or wish that the show could be all plot, all the time. I typically fall into the latter category, as a rule, although there are obvious exceptions: when the silly episodes are just so well-written or have such great brotherly moments that you can't help but get swept up in them.
I'd say that the alliteratively-titled "Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie" fell comfortably in the middle of the heap. It didn't have the originality of "Frontierland," but it was no "Mannequin 3," either. Writers Andrew Dabb and Daniel Loflin seem to find their groove in these quirky,...
