Eurimages president Gianni Massaro resigned in protest from his post Thursday, claiming that the future of the European Union's film production fund is being jeopardized by an internecine power struggle. At a Rome press conference, Massaro, also president of Italy's motion picture association ANICA, lashed out against the fund's executive secretary, Renate Roginas, claiming that her power to screen projects and decide "sometimes arbitrarily" whether they are eligible for consideration has reduced the Eurimages board to having "a secondary role." "I don't think Eurimages will last very long unless its power structure is changed," Massaro said.
