Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series expanded upon the titular conflict in the space opera franchise that largely went untapped in the prequels era. It followed the Galactic Republic’s tussle with the Separatists through the eyes of the Jedi, the Clone Troopers, and the Senators while also enriching the franchise’s lore.

The series also features the highly entertaining but drastically less sophisticated B1 battle droids. The Separatists primarily used them in their battle against the Jedi. However, the droids also had a fun and sardonic side that goes underappreciated. Some fans recently took to social media to discuss the humor of the B1 droids and made a compelling case for them to get their own show.

Spoilers for "Andor" and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" follow.
Droids are an essential part of the "Star Wars" universe. They help sell the idea that this is not just fantasy in space, but an epic space opera. Two of the very first characters we ever see in the franchise are droids — C-3Po and R2-D2 — and they are instrumental to the story, to the war effort, and to the victories of the Rebel Alliance. But while droids have always been present, they haven't really been at the center of the story, instead serving as comic relief or as a faceless army most of the time. We laughed at 3Po's self-righteousness, at his bickering with R2, the way he was disassembled and put back together backward. We laughed at the "Roger Roger" battle droids in the prequels, and at the weird relationship between L3-37 and Lando Calrissian...

Thirty six hours or so after he finished his stint as the Academy Awards’ first DJ-as-orchestra, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, the show’s musical director, has posted a 144-track playlist including every single song he played during the three-plus-hour-long Oscars ceremony this year. Unfortunately, it does not include the music that he and the Roots recorded paying homage to great Hollywood composers (which he described to Variety in an interview last week), but it’s an amazing 10-hour-plus jam nonetheless. It begins with James Brown’s “The Boss,” concludes with three songs from Prince, and hits everything from Donna Summer to the “Super Mario” theme, from Bohannon to the Human League, from Louis Prima to Toto, from Johnny Cash to Bjork, from the Fatback Band to Ronnie Laws, along the way.
Of course, in his two day jobs, Quest is both the drummer and founder of the Roots and the musical...

"Roger Roger". Those two words probably make people who hate the film "The Phantom Menace" wince each and every time they hear them now. After all, that was the phrase that would come out of the most ineffectual weapons ever utilized by the bad guys in a "Star Wars" film… the Battle Droid. It's funny that I'd be thinking of Battle Droids this weekend, after completely sitting out what was referred to as "Force Friday." I remember the equivalent day in '99 when all of the "Phantom Menace" merchandise went on sale. I was working at the time as a closed-captioner, and one of the many thing I bought for myself at that midnight sale was a Battle Droid onboard his little flying scooter thingy. It sat on my desk for months, and I would look at it and imagine what we might get from the actual film. As with many things in the prequels,...

Universally loved television and big screen actor Peter Graves passed away on Sunday from a heart attack. He was 83 years old. The Minnesota native spent 2 years in the Us Air Force before moving to Hollywood and making his name with small supporting roles.
He appeared in a handful of westerns as well as the Billy Wilder directed film Stalag 17. In 1955 he appeared in one of my favourite movies of all time, The Night Of The Hunter with Robert Mitchum. An entire generation will always remember him for his role as James Phelps in the classic American TV show Mission Impossible. He played the role for 7 years and enjoyed tremendous success.
He gained millions of new fans when in 1980 he played Captain Ouver in Airplane! “Roger Roger, What’s our vector Victor?”
The role spoofed his leading man qualities and turned him into a comic icon. In the 90s the...
