A doc from Oscar-winner Steve McQueen and a Vr experience about Banksy are two of the projects selected for this year’s Venice Film Festival Gap-Financing Market. The three-day event (September 4-6) is planning to take place in a physical form, as per the rest of the festival, despite the ongoing disruption from the coronavirus. McQueen’s project is Occupied City, which is based on the illustrated history book ‘Atlas of an Occupied City, Amsterdam 1940-1945’, written by his wife Bianca Stigter. The Banksy project is a Vr experience about the artist’s Walled Off Hotel, which was built opposite the Israeli West Bank Barrier. In total, 22 fiction features will take part in the Venice market this year, alongside six docs and 12 Vr projects.

A Red Band trailer was released for Dan Pringle's film K-Shop in February. Now, more promotional material is coming this way, via three stills. Bulldog Film Distributors will release the film in July. And, the film involves a lone kebab shop owner, who loses his father to a group of drunk louts. He takes revenge in a horrifying way. The film centrally stars Ziad Abaza, with Ewen MacIntosh, Lucinda Rhodes and Darren Morfitt co-starring. Mem Ferda and Adam Merrifield are producing this thrilling feature. K-Shop takes a look at English drinking culture. Pringle has written a unique story, which incorporates drunken clubbers, vandals and other assorted hooligans. Ferda says of the film's central topic and its relevancy: "it's high time a socially relevant film like this was made highlighting the significant problems of drink culture that is prevalent amongst our teen society, today. A film we first heard about toward the end of last year, Gary Meyer's The Winedancers, is now edited and ready for its finishing touches so the production team has unveiled the first official trailer. Check it out, and look for more soon.
The international cast includes Lucinda Rhodes, Kim Sønderholm, Kasia Koleczek, Miglen Mirtchev, Edmund Digby-Jones, Kyle Calderwood, Mariana Peñalva, J.C. Montes-Roldan, Antoine Martin, Andrea Catozzi, Jonathan Christopher Duncan, Marina De Salis, and Callie Roberts.
Writer/director/producer Meyer describes the film as "a mixture of horror comedy and theatre, a roller coaster of emotions. For some reason I came up with a transvestite cowboy line dancer as the main character wearing stiletto heals and tapping to the beat of 'Cotton-Eye Joe'... The inspiration: Robin Hardy's The Wicker Man, Tony Scott's The Hunger, and life here in Provence with its deep-rooted French way of life resisting...

The exclusive pics from the UK vampire movie Dead Cert just keep coming; producer Jonathan Sothcott sent over some more, which you can check out below. He also gave us a few words and the first poster for another upcoming project: a remake of the 1972 cult chiller The Asphyx.
“We are just going into our fourth week of production on Dead Cert, and are now based in a studio in Essex,” Sothcott tells Fango. “Next week we start all the wirework for the mother of all vampire battles. Our gang of vamps looks amazing—Billy Murray as Dante has this amazing, dangerous stillness and so much dignity. Dave Legeno [the villain from The Cottage] is an absolute powerhouse, and Andy Tiernan is just hypnotic on screen.”
Dead Cert, which we last covered here, is being directed by Steven Lawson and also stars Craig Fairbrass and Steven Berkoff. “We have some incredibly gorgeous girls in this film too: Lisa McAllister,...

Producer Jonathan Sothcott sent along an exclusive batch of first photos (see ’em below) from his vampire movie Dead Cert, currently lensing in the UK under the direction of Steven Lawson. “We have been filming on location in East London and Essex since Saturday—tough night shoots, but the shots Steve is getting are amazing,” Sothcott tells us.
Dead Cert, which we last covered here, stars “Craig Fairbrass and Lisa McAllister as Freddie Frankham and Jen Christian, a couple whose world is torn apart by vampires,” Sothcott continues. “Craig and Lisa have an amazing chemistry; they work brilliantly on screen as a couple and are giving powerhouse performances.”
Also starring is veteran actor Steven Berkoff as vampire hunter Kenneth Mason. “Steven is an absolute legend, and I’m thrilled he’s doing the film,” the producer says. “I called him and asked him, and he said yes immediately. We were all amazed and so excited.
