- Silverio Pérez was born on November 20, 1915 in Puebla, Puebla, Mexico. He was an actor, known for De Nueva York a Huipanguillo (1943), Arruza (1972) and Aplausos (2005). He died on September 2, 2006 in Pentecostés, Texcoco, Mexico.

- One of the greatest bullfighters of Mexico's "Golden Age of Toreros". He started his career in 1931 after a bull killed his brother, the renowned Carmelo Perez, during a bout in Spain. He retired in 1953. In the 1960s, Mexican singer-songwriter Agustin Lara wrote a song, "Silverio" in his honor. A statue of Perez stands along one of Mexico City's main avenues.
