When Lucasfilm announced that Mads Mikkelsen would play the main villain in "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," there was much rejoicing. Over the last 20 years, Mikkelsen has established himself as a master of menace. He's a skin-crawling masochist as Le Chiffre in "Casino Royale," a deliciously evil master of the Mystic Arts in "Doctor Strange" and a creepily seductive cannibalistic psychiatrist in the frustratingly short-lived NBC drama "Hannibal."
That Mikkelsen could put a fresh spin on a character who'd been portrayed by such thespian giants as Brian Cox and Anthony Hopkins left viewers breathless. We thought we knew Hannibal Lecter, and we were so very wrong. Mikkelsen could've become a go-to Hollywood bad guy at this point, but he kept a foot in the Danish film industry that vaulted him to international stardom and turned in what is, to date, his best performance as a milquetoast high school...

Steven Spielberg's 1984 blockbuster "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" is not a good movie. The pacing is strange, the central story is introduced rather late into the film, and the interior logic doesn't really stand up to scrutiny. Many also take issue with Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw) as she constantly whines. Also what is the true nature of the Sankara stones, and why is it bad that Mola Ram (Amrish Puri) has them? It seems that Mola Ram and Chattar Lal (Roshan Seth) are quite evil enough merely enslaving hundreds of children to work in their mines.
"Temple of Doom" is also the bloodiest and scariest of the "Indiana Jones" movies, a quality that both Spielberg and story writer/producer George Lucas have said was inspired by their respective messy breakups at the time. While many find the movie's gore to be fun and zesty -- including this...

Twenty-five years ago, I — and millions of Hindi film fans around the world — saw our first Karan Johar movie. “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” — which currently holds the top spot in IndieWire’s list of the best rom-coms on Netflix — was a superhit and instant classic, a story of love and friendship that stood the test of time and charms audiences to this day.
Johar’s latest, “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani,” (“Rocky and Rani’s Love Story”) written by Shashank Khaitan, is the kind of Bollywood bliss audiences have been craving. It’s entertaining but not dependent on action and violence. It’s star-studded but with genuinely talented actors, not just airbrushed beauty and family names. It’s modern but not Western. It’s family-oriented but not pedantic.

Bollywood star and Bjp MP from Punjab’s Gurdaspur Sunny Deol blamed “political games” for the “hatred” between India and Pakistan.
The actor made the remark during grand trailer launch of ‘Gadar 2’ on Kargil Diwas. Filmmaker Anil Sharma, stars Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma were also present on the occasion.
Sunny said, “Kuch le jane ya lene-dene ki baat nahi hoti hai. Baat hoti hai insaniyat ki. Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom (1984) sits in a weird place in the Indiana Jones franchise. It ventures into darker territory, portraying a more sinister and supernatural side, trading Nazis for the creepy Thuggee cult. Even Spielberg himself has mentioned that it is his least favorite of the series. He should re-watch Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in our opinion. He may change his mind.
Today on The Arrow In The Head Show, Lance Vlcek and John “The Arrow” Fallon aim to prove him wrong. With Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in theatres and playing to divisive audience reactions and less spectacular than expected box office, we thought now would be the time to do our definitive ranking of the Indiana Jones films. Of course, these rankings are just our opinions, so if you disagree – and many of you probably do – make sure to hit us up in the comments. Time to let er’ rip!
5 – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Some of you reading this probably think I’m crazy. Am I actually saying Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is better than Dial of Destiny? Here’s the thing – some parts of Crystal Skull are worse than anything in Dial of Destiny. There’s nothing horrifically embarrassing in this movie, but the thing is, there’s nothing terribly memorable, either. The action is bland, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge,...

The mainstream franchise filmography produced by Lucasfilm has thus far presented a number of iconic, larger-than-life villainous characters, and the Indiana Jones franchise is no exception. Even though the antagonistic characters in the series tend to lack complexity in their portrayal and are generally straight-up evil without a hint of redeeming factor or relatability, their comic-bookish villainy more than makes up for that. So far, we have had zealots, cult leaders, and Soviet scientists as some of Indy’s prime adversaries, and in Indy’s last rodeo, director James Mangold decided to go back to the roots with a Nazi scientist as the antagonist. Viewers are introduced to Jürgen Voller, the Nazi astrophysicist who sought to change the course of history by using Archimedes’ dial. To assess how he fared among the other rivals Indy has faced so far, we will first take a look at the franchise’s best antagonists.

Actor Vardhan Puri, who is awaiting the release of his horror film ‘Aseq’, has something to tell: his spine-chilling experience when he was attacked by a six and half feet tall unclothed lady in his hotel room.
Vardhan is the grandson of the late actor Amrish Puri, and will be soon seen in ‘Aseq’ which will drop on Ott.
Walking down the memory lane, Vardhan said: “I got attacked by a six and half feet tall unclothed lady in my hotel room early in the morning one day and I had to defend myself somehow before she tried to strangle me. After the experience, I could not be sure if the lady was a human being. It was extremely traumatic to say the least and a lot of people from the unit witnessed the madness. I still suffer from Ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder).”

Strangely, the most influential films are sometimes the ones that show the most age as time passes. How can you watch “Godzilla” or “Yojimbo” without thinking about the countless, often inferior, films they inspired? “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” the smash hit 1995 Hindi romcom that immediately revolutionized Indian cinema, faces those same disadvantages when being watched by a viewer today. So many subsequent Bollywood productions have borrowed from its sensibilities, and even paid direct homage to specific scenes, that elements seen as fresh in the 90s could be looked at as predictable now. It's hard to imagine a time when filmmakers were hesitant to feature Non-Resident Indians in major roles, and it's even more mind-boggling to think of Shah Rukh Khan as anything less than the global icon he's been for three decades. Yet when it was released, “Ddlj” pushed the envelope and helped to establish a new era in the Indian film industry,...

Playing a boisterous Bohemian, a debonair prince, or a cheerfully irresponsible student, who intentionally provokes his father and fiancee in a court hearing, a rustic, or a rollicking romantic lead with a swagger that Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor, and Rajesh Khanna could envy, came natural to him. Yet, in popular memory, Dilip Kumar is only synonymous with the dejected, despondent and (usually) doomed hero.
In his 57 films over his half-century-plus stint in the Hindi film industry, Dilip Kumar is chiefly remembered as the ‘Tragedy King’, battered down by unrequited love, social or political pressure, or other inexorable circumstances.
Whether it was as lush Devdas in the eponymous 1955 film, the unfortunate Prince Marcus of “Yahudi” (1958), the eventually subdued rebellious Prince Salim in “Mughal-e-Azam” (1960), the star-crossed Dilip of “Andaz” (1949), and so on, there was usually no happy ending for him.

Along with expressions and mannerisms, it is the voice that makes a successful actor. But there are times where the film may demand that the performer just use facial expressions and body language, without any words, to emote – and that can test their calibre. Blessed with a resounding baritone – and a fine singing voice too, Amitabh Bachchan was several times called to demonstrate his prowess in this respect – and never disappointed.
Manoj Kumar described his voice as “a mellow whisper, sounding like the murmurs of a thundery cloud” at their first meeting in September 1967, when Amitabh arrived in Bombay to try his luck in the film industry, the first film that he got – “Reshma aur Shera” (1971) had portrayed him as mute.
This, as per director and producer Sunil Dutt – who fulfilled his promise of giving him a break – and writer Ali Raza, was to evoke greater audience sympathy for him.

If the Indiana Jones movies had been made in chronological order, the Thuggee cult in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" might have made pretty good bad guys for our intrepid adventurer to warm up on before tackling the greater peril of the Third Reich. After all, the real-life Thugs were proper nasty bastards, posing as travelers to waylay and murder around 30,000 people in early 19th century India, strangling their victims and offering them as a sacrifice to Kali, not to mention nicking all their stuff.
"Temple of Doom" screenwriters Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz made them even worse, adding voodoo magic, enslaving children, turning people into zombies, and ripping out people's hearts to the Thuggee repertoire. And yet it still wasn't quite enough, because "Raiders of the Lost Ark" came first, and "Raiders" had the Nazis, those go-to cinematic (and real world) villains. After a whole movie beating up and melting Nazis,...

From Gabbar Singh of ‘Sholay’ to Kancha Cheena of ‘Agneepath’ and Mogambo of ‘Mr India’, Salman Khan slips into the persona of each of these Bollywood baddies in the new round of ‘Bigg Boss 16’ promos.
In the latest promo, Salman dons the look of Amrish Puri’s Mogambo by wearing a black jacket with gold detailing, and that iconic bracelet. He sits on a white throne with crystal balls, just like Mogambo was shown sitting in the 1987 movie ‘Mr India’, featuring Anil Kapoor and the late Sridevi.

Mumbai, March 9 (Ians) Bigg Boss 14 contestant Rakhi Sawant wonders who would reprise Sridevis starring role if the 1986 superhit Nagina was remade today. She posted the question with a clip from the film on Instagram.
In the clip, Rakhi's face is morphed onto Sridevi's body. While she posted her wish to relive Sridevi's evergreen avatar as the snake-woman, Rakhi got the name of the film wrong.
"I love #sridevi Ji one of my fav film is #Naagin if remade who should they cast -- see and put ur choices in comment#rakhisawant #biggboss14," Rakhi captioned the image.
In Harmesh Malhotra's Nagina, Sridevi stars as Rajni, an ‘icchhadhari naagin' who, in human form, marries a rich man (played by Rishi Kapoor) and has to protect him from an evil ‘tantrik' (Amrish Puri). The film is still recalled for Laxmikant-Pyarelal's superhit music, especially the Sridevi dance number Main naagin tu sapera sung by Lata Mangeshkar.
