- Nikos Psacharopoulos was born on January 18, 1928 in Athens, Greece. He was a director and art director, known for Play of the Week (1959), Great Performances (1971) and Standing Room Only (1976). He died on January 12, 1989 in U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Claimed to have founded his own theater troupe at age 15 in Nazi-occupied Greece.
- Emigrated to the United States in 1947, to study at Oberlin College, where he directed productions by the Oberlin Mummers.
- In 1954, received an MFA in directing from the Yale School of Drama.
- In 1955, the Williamstown Summer Theater of Massachusetts invited Psacharopoulos to to be its Associate Director. One year later, he was the Artistic and Executive Director, a position he flourished in for the next 44 years.
- His colleagues referred to him as "the irrepressible Nikos.".
