- Fritz Pollard was born on January 27, 1894 in Rogers Park, Illinois, USA. He was an actor and producer, known for Rockin' the Blues (1956). He died on May 11, 1986 in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA.
- Became the first black coach in the NFL when he and Elgie Tobin were co-coaches of the Akron Pros for the 1921 season.
- Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2005. Others inducted in 2005 were Steve Young, Dan Marino, and Benny Friedman.
- Wingback/tailback/blocking back with the National Football League's Akron Pros, Milwaukee Badgers, Hammond Pros, and Providence Steam Roller (1920-1923, 1925-1926).
