Matt Piedmont was born in Walnut Creek, California and grew up in the
Spokane, Washington
At 25, he was hired as a writer for Saturday Night Live, where he
worked for six years, earning an Emmy for Outstanding Writing in the process.
He wrote and directed the popular web series "Carpet Brothers", which
was later aired on HBO.
Piedmont also directs commercials with the production company
Prettybird and has directed spots for Pepsi, 7up, Lincoln, Budweiser, Orbit, HBO, Microsoft, Gillette, ATT, Verizon and others.
His short film "Brick Novax's Diary" won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize for
Short Filmmaking at the Sundance Film Festival.
He directed the live stage presentation of the 60th Anniversary of Allen Ginseberg's Howl Produced by Hal Willner, featuring among others, Nick Cave, Beth Orton, Van Dyke Parks, Will Forte, Amy Poehler, Chris Parnell, Courtney Love, Chloe Webb and Tin Robbins.
He lives in Venice with his wife Jyll, and can usually be found in
thrift shops augmenting his ever expanding collection of vinyl records.
