- Margaret Phillips was born on July 6, 1923 in Cwmgwrach, South Wales, UK. She was an actress, known for Masterpiece Playhouse (1950), Fireside Theatre (1949) and A Life of Her Own (1950). She died on September 9, 1984 in New York City, New York, USA.
- Left her native Wales in 1939 to settle in the United States. First acted at the Woodstock Theater in New York, going on to a distinguished stage career in the 1940's and 50's. Her crowning success was winning the Clarence Derwent Award for her performance as Birdie Bagtry in a Lillian Hellman Broadway play, "Another Part of the Forest" in 1947. She appeared in other classic plays on Broadway, including "Cry Havoc","The Late George Apley" and "The Heiress".
- Became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1950.
