Robert Perry(II)
- Composer
Skilled musician and composer Robert Perry has been working in Ireland
as a music teacher. Well known as a player of the eolian pipes in the
band Dead Can Dance, led by Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard. Formed his
own Irish music band and toured Ireland. Performed in Dead Can Dance
concerts throughout the world. His wife is a film editor. Cousin of the
actor Stephen Armourae. Also known as Stephen Armourae-Perry, the
composer who has written for short films and usually in medieval and
modal style. Has some similarities to Brendan and Roibert's music but
draws heavier on Ars Nova school of 13 century music. Similarities
being coincidental since Brendan and Robert lived outside of England
for many years. Robert has appeared on Dead Can Dance albums since the
triumphant Aeon (1990). An album largely consisting of medieval
inspired pieces. Spiritchaser 1996 was one of their most popular albums
using South American musicians. Paralleling Stephen's work on samba and
flamenco rhythms at the time. He has revived this interest in writing
recent pieces, including for the beautiful guitarist Carolina Herrera.
Robert's father is the artist Micky Perry.
