IMAX has inked a deal with Vox Cinemas, the Middle East’s largest exhibitor, for a minimum of four new theatres in Saudi Arabia. Four theatres will be added to new multiplexes in Riyadh. The first IMAX theatre has opened at Vox Cinemas’ Riyadh Park Mall venue. Vox Cinemas was awarded its licence to operate cinemas in the Kingdom and plans to invest SAR2B (Us$533.3M) to open 600 screens in Saudi Arabia over the next five years. Today’s agreement brings the IMAX contracted network in Saudi Arabia to at least five, with two currently open.

Exclusive: The scripted series Dtla – which was created, directed and executive produced by The L Word‘s Larry Kennar — has landed at Logo. The network will premiere the ensemble drama Wednesday, October 24 at 11 Pm and will follow it with seven 30-minute episodes. Dtla revolves around the relationships and sex lives of eight friends with varied ethnic, cultural, and sexual orientations who work and live in downtown Los Angeles. Darryl Stephens (Noah’s Arc) stars with a supporting cast that includes Melanie Griffith, Sandra Bernhard and Jeremy Jackson. Stephens, Michael Andres Palmieri and Helene Shaw also executive produce. The series will also have its international premiere on Out TV Canada, marking the first time a Kickstarter-funded TV series has landed domestic and foreign distribution. (Check out the trailer below.) The deal marks the latest scripted acquisition for the network, which include Misfits and Bewitched (currently on the air). It also will premiere Will & Grace next year.

The Producers Guild of America notified its members Monday of upcoming election nominations for open national officer and delegate seats.
The producers council and joint-council nominating committees have nominated Mark Gordon and Hawk Koch for national co-presidents; Gary Lucchesi for vp motion pictures; Hayma "Screech" Washington for vp television; and R.J. Hume, Rachel Klein, Stephen Marinaccio, Michael Palmieri and Lauren Shuler Donner for treasurer.
The deadline for nominating candidates by petition and for all candidates to submit final candidate statements is May 6. Ballots will be made available online to all active members in good standing May 10.
Balloting closes June 3, and the election results will be announced at the annual general membership meeting the following night at Culver Studios.
