- Cory Osceola was born on January 15, 1893 in Florida, USA. He was an actor, known for Wind Across the Everglades (1958). He died on October 28, 1978 in Naples, Florida, USA.
- A direct descendant of Seminole Indian Chief Osceola and leader of the Independent Seminole Nation until just before his death. He lost his right arm in a railroad accident in Fort Lauderdale in 1922.
- In December 1929, six members of the Seminole Nation were given a ride in a dirigible when the Goodyear Zeppelin Corporation's baby blimp Defender took them over the Everglades in a gesture meant to help bridge the cultural gap between the Seminoles and modern society. Unfortunately, Cory was banned by tribal law from the trip as he was forbidden, as chief, to take any chances with his life or do anything out of the ordinary routine of living until his infant son, only six months old at the time, was able to walk.
