Taylor Sheridan’s expanding Yellowstone universe is in constant need of actors willing to dive straight into the narrative and diligently play their individual parts in the progression of the larger story. As such, it may not come as a surprise when actors who already had a role in one Sheridan series suddenly pop up in another spin-off series taking place entirely in another timeline.

Sheridan-verse, as fans have come to call it, has witnessed a total of 6 actors returning to the Yellowstone universe in one form or another. Among them also lies the innately talented Dawn Olivieri, whose reassignment into the Yellowstone series makes for quite an interesting story in and of itself.

Speaking at a Yellowstone panel on Saturday night, Keith Cox, president of development and production at Paramount Network, addressed the elephant in the room concerning star Kevin Costner’s future with the show.
“What I can say is our star, the face of our show and the executive producer, are very confident he’s going to continue with our show,” Cox told the crowd at the Dolby Theatre, in front of hundreds of fans who delivered an enthusiastic response.
In February, it was reported that the network may seek to end Yellowstone sooner rather than later due to scheduling battles with Costner, who plays patriarch John Dutton and reportedly demanded to only work for a single week on the second half of season five. The first half of the season aired its midseason finale Jan. 1 and is set to return for the second half this summer. The episode set up...

This interview contains spoilers for Yellowstone season 5 and 1883.
The Taylor Sheridan family, much like the television empire the Academy Award nominated writer is building, has grown extensively over the last couple of years. The creator has brought in some amazing talent to his shows, including icons such as Jeremy Renner (Mayor of Kingstown), Sam Elliott (1883), Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren (1923), and Sylvester Stalone (Tulsa King). Yet any fan of Sheridan’s work knows that these stars are not necessarily the face of their respective series. In reality, it’s all about the pool of experienced and diverse actors that populate them.
Dawn Olivieri, best known for her stint on House of Lies as Monica Talbot, is the kind of actor who has proven herself to come into a show and make a major impact, regardless of how much time she is given on screen. Her filmography includes recurring roles on The Vampire Diaries,...

Dawn Olivieri can’t ignore the signs that led her to joining Taylor Sheridan’s universe.
The House of Lies actress, who has appeared in roles on the big (American Hustle, Bright) and small screens (The Vampire Diaries, Heroes, Seal Team) decided to leave city life behind and adopted a rural life in Arkansas back when the pandemic hit.
“It’s a little bit woo-woo,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter of life ultimately imitating art. “The second I moved here, I got all of this Western world work, which I had never gotten before. No period pieces, none of that. So, it’s pretty trippy.”
Soon after her lifestyle change (“I run a goat herd and goat babies, horse and mules. I’m picking up hay bales,” she describes), she got cast in the second season of Nat Geo’s anthology hit The Hot Zone. “I got a call, and they offered that to me.

Yellowstone is nowhere near an expiration date but that doesn’t mean co-creator/EP Taylor Sheridan doesn’t already know how his addictive drama should end. At a panel for the series at the Screen Actors Guild headquarters in Los Angeles Friday, star Wes Bentley (Jamie Dutton) acknowledged that Sheridan already has a series finale in mind for the popular Paramount Network drama.
“He has said to me, he knows how he wants to end it,” says Bentley, who was joined on the panel by Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater), Kelsey Asbille (Monica Dutton) and Dawn Olivieri (Sarah Atwood). “That was a while ago. I’m sure he didn’t know how we were going to get there but he knows how.”
When asked if he feels like a Dutton (or two) will have to die by the time the show ends, Bentley said simply, “I’m not a Dutton.”

[This story contains spoilers to the midseason finale of Yellowstone season five, “A Knife and No Coin.”]
Jamie Dutton has been simmering on Yellowstone.
The adopted son has always had a complicated relationship with his father, Yellowstone patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner). But after the explosive Jan. 1 midseason finale of the hit Paramount Network series, Wes Bentley’s Jamie nearly reached his boiling point, and he made a move that will ready him for a war.
“It feels like he’s found his spine,” Bentley tells The Hollywood Reporter of Jamie’s transformative moment. “We really are at a 50-50 clash right now, and it’s really hard to tell who comes out on top, if anyone, from this part of the story.”
After opening the fifth season of the Taylor Sheridan neo-Western with Jamie under the thumb of his sister Beth (Kelly Reilly) and father amid John’s swearing-in as Montana governor, the shunned Dutton son attempted to...

This Yellowstone review contains spoilers.
Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 6
Last week it finally became clear what this rather aimless and slow-paced season of Yellowstone has been all about. Taylor Sheridan, who has written every word this season so far, is preparing a eulogy to read when the cowboy way of life is dead and gone. Don’t be fooled either, the death rattle is already being heard, it’s simply that Sheridan wants to put a megaphone in front of it so it quakes anyone within earshot.
The problem being, most of his audience has already heard the rattle, at least five times already this season.
“Cigarettes, Whiskey, a Meadow and You” begins as you’d expect, with the Montana skyline as a section of the Dutton family including John (Kevin Costner), Beth (Kelly Reilly), and Rip (Cole Hauser) catch the sunrise over the mountains preparing for the round up and eventual branding of their cattle.

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Sunday’s Yellowstone. If you’ve yet to watch, you may want to put off reading this interview until you have.
It hardly came as a surprise to Yellowstone fans that mantrap Sarah Atwood was able to so quickly entangle Jamie in her web; she was offering not only hot sex but the governorship to boot! But what did come as a shock in Sunday’s episode (recapped in full here) was the threat that was implied when her lover pointed out that dad John would be hard to beat in a fair fight.
