German character actor, trained at the Max Reinhardt school at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. On stage from 1928, he was equally adept at youthful romantic leads or in character roles. Nicklisch continued on in the post-war period as a busy supporting player and even busier voice-over artist, dubbing for such stars as Charles Bronson, William Holden and John Wayne.
