Exclusive, Update, writethru with comment from Zach McGowan reps: In May 2017, Deadline broke the news that Zach McGowan had been cast as the lead in Gabriel Robertson’s historical drama Ni’ihau, based on the true story of a WWII confrontation on the titular Hawaiian island. Almost immediately, there was strong reaction to the fact that the role of real-life Hawaii native Ben Kanahele had gone to a Caucasian actor, amid calls of whitewashing and what Ni’ihau producer Ken Petrie says was “a tidal wave of backlash.” The role was ultimately recast with Joseph Naufahu, and the film is now finished. So how did a first-time producer and filmmaker fumble, then navigate the deep waters in which they suddenly found themselves on Ni’ihau?
The original casting turn seems pretty surprising, particularly after public outcries surrounding Emma Stone playing...

"It won't stop until they control everyone." Opening in theaters everywhere worldwide this weekend is the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie, based on the popular manga/anime, starring Scarlett Johansson as the human-cyborg Major. To give the movie one final push, Paramount has released this final trailer, featuring tons of VFX-polished futuristic footage. The sci-fi action movie also stars Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, Michael Wincott, Rila Fukushima, Chin Han, plus Takeshi Kitano, Joseph Naufahu, with Pilou Asbæk as Batou. I'm glad to hear the original music in this trailer, and see new footage of her fighting the tank robot. I'm planning to watch this movie this week, still hopeful it's actually good after all. Here's the final official trailer (+ posters) for Rupert Sanders' Ghost in the Shell, direct from YouTube: You can still see the first trailer or second trailer for Ghost in the Shell, plus the Mamoru Oshii featurette.

"They created her, but they cannot control her." Paramount has just debuted the second official trailer for Rupert Sanders' live-action Ghost in the Shell movie, based on the original manga series. We've already seen one trailer and the Super Bowl spot, but this new one is even better. Scarlett Johansson stars as "The Major", a "one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid" who leads an elite task force as part of Section 9. She goes on an epic search to find a hacker criminal who wants to destroy all the technology at Hanka Robotics. Also starring Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, Michael Wincott, Rila Fukushima, Chin Han, plus filmmaker Takeshi Kitano, Joseph Naufahu, with Pilou Asbæk as Batou. It looks like they're polishing the VFX and it looks great so far. Plus it's awesome to see they're including the tank fight in this. Fire it up. Here's the second official trailer for Rupert Sanders' Ghost in the Shell movie,...

In Et’s exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the filming of Game of Thrones season six, the mood is far from the serious tone seen on HBO.
The featurette clip shows Emilia Clarke (our very own Daenerys Targaryen) giving audiences a backstage tour of the Meereen set, where her character makes her triumphant return after disappearing at the end of season five. “Getting ready for a badass entrance,” Clarke says before turning to the women behind Daenerys’ iconic onscreen looks.
While introducing her makeup and hair team, co-star Peter Dinklage (aka Tyrion Lannister) crashes the tour. “Just fixing the tele,” Dinklage jokes as he attempts to hide behind a monitor before running off.

Still thinking about Game of Thrones after that action-packed premiere last Sunday? Us too.
The good news is that despite the many questions left mostly unanswered and plotlines upended, we are just two days away from more answers (we hope).
One point of issue we're told will be addressed in the upcoming episode entitled "Home," is, just who is this new Khal and what the heck is going to happen to our Mother of Dragons (Emilia Clarke)? Here are five things to know about Khal Moro and the New Zealand-born actor who plays him, Joseph Naufahu.
1. "He's loyal," Naufahu tells People.

According to Deadline, Joe Naufahu (Spartacus: Vengeance, The Last Saint, The Kick, Go Girls) has booked a recurring gig on season 6 of Game O Thrones. The site doesn't have any specifics on who he'll be playing, but there's a decent chance he's been cast in one of the new Dothraki roles. In the season 5 finale, Dany find herself surrounded by a khalasar so there's bound to be a few characters from that group emerging as more prominent players. Could Naufahu be Khal Jhaqo, perhaps? We'll update as soon as we know more. Game Of Thrones will return next April. ...
