Only Murders In The Building Heads to Hollywood in New Season 4 Teaser - Main Image
Disney has dropped the first teaser trailer of the Emmy-winning mystery comedy series Only Murders in the Building:
The trailer confirms what we already know: Season 4 will see our amateur true crime podcasters Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) hit the streets of Los Angeles, as they find a studio interested in bringing Only Murders to the big screen.
In the cliffhanger finale of Season 3, our amateur sleuths join an after-party to celebrate the triumphant opening night of Oliver’s murder mystery musical Death Razzle Dazzle. Not long after they close the case of Ben Glenroy’s elevator accident, they will be confronted soon by the “hot, fresh, dead body” of Charles’s friend and long-time stunt double Sazz Pataki (played by Jane Lynch).

The stars of Only Murders In The Building are hard at work on the Hulu show’s next season!
Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and Martin Short were also seen running out of their apartment building known as the Arconia on the show while filming a scene on Wednesday (April 24) in New York City.
The trio were seen with their luggage in hand and getting into Steve‘s character’s car before driving off.
Them filming a scene where they leave the Arconia makes sense as it was previously reported that the show’s setting would move to Los Angeles, where they were seen filming in early March.
Also spotted on set that day was their co-star Michael Cyril Creighton, who plays another Arconia resident, Howard Morris.
The night before, Selena stepped out as a speaker for the Time100 Summit. Check out the pics!

Cozy murder mystery “Only Murders in the Building” has another case to solve in its third season. Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) thought they had taken care of all the haunts of the Arconia building where they live as neighbors, but as teased in Season 2, yet another mysterious death clouds their lives. Oliver finally gets to put on a big play, starring none other than Paul Rudd as famous actor Ben Glenroy. But a shocking death on opening night puts everything in jeopardy.
Rudd is not the only big star to join “Only Murders in the Building” Season 3. Others include the one and only Meryl Streep, Jesse Williams and Ashley Park.

The end of “Only Murders in the Building” Season 2 featured a flash forward to a year after the series’ true-crime podcasting trio — Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) — solved the murder of their curmudgeon of a neighbor Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell). Set on opening night of Oliver’s latest Broadway play, with Charles and Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd) as the show’s feuding stars, the epilogue served as the series’ way of saying, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.” Or, more specifically, as Mabel herself said to close out the episode and season: “You’ve got to be f–g kidding me.” Because, naturally Ben ended up dying right there on the Broadway stage, most definitely not from natural causes.

There’s a new murder to solve in Only Murders in the Building season three — and Selena Gomez’s Mabel, Steve Martin‘s Charles and Martin Short’s Oliver are on the case.
In the final moments of season two, the gang reunited one year after they went their separate ways. Charles goes back to starring in a reboot of the series that made him a star, Brazzos; Mabel continues renovating her apartment with Alice (Cara Delevingne); and Oliver gets offered a director role in a Broadway play.
Charles stars in Oliver’s play alongside none other than Paul Rudd as series newcomer Ben Glenroy. Right before the curtain rises, Ben and Charles are seen bickering and Charles utters, “I know what you did.” As soon as Ben steps onto the stage and recites his first line, he collapses and dies.

“Only Murders in the Building” will officially be returning to The Arconia on August 8. The Season 3 date announcement for the beloved Hulu comedy-drama was confirmed during Disney’s upfront presentation on Tuesday.
This end-of-summer premiere is especially exciting considering Season 3’s cast. In addition to “Only Murder’s” detecting regulars — Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez — this upcoming installment will star Paul Rudd as Ben Glenroy, a theater actor who dies onstage, and Meryl Streep in an undisclosed role. And, yes, before you ask, Rudd’s character is the murder at center stage this season. This season will also star “Emily in Paris” actor and Tony-nominee Ashley Park as a Broadway ingenue named Kimber. Additionally, Michael Cyril Creighton, who played the recurring and cat-loving Howard Morris for the past two seasons, has been bumped up to series regular this time around.

When word got out that HBO Max was working on a Velma origin story, fan responses were all over the place. It's not that "Scooby-Doo" fans dislike the four-eyed, orange-clad investigator who's been integral to Mystery Inc. since it first began in 1969. Rather, the hesitant responses to "Velma" were related to other aspects of the Mindy Kaling-led show, including its adult humor and violence, changes in animation style and characterization, and a conspicuous lack of the crime-solving Great Dane himself.
But if you look closely at the history of the long-running franchise, it's clear that for as long as Scooby and the gang have been on the air in some form or another, the shows have been repeatedly reinventing. And while that constant reinvention has often caused cyclical, ahistorical outrage from picky viewers, it's also the key to what makes "Scooby-Doo" so satisfying after all these years.

For four seasons between 1950 and 1954, a collection of trailblazing performers and writers shaped the future of television comedy on NBC's 90-minute variety series "Your Show of Shows." The wildly versatile trio of Sid Caesar, Imogen Coco, and Howard Morris, abetted by straight-man supreme Carl Reiner, had America's living rooms roaring with laughter once a week, and they couldn't have done it without the brilliant contributions of an all-time writers room that included Mel Tolkin, brothers Neil and Danny Simon, Selma Diamond, and Mel Brooks.
That last fella was 24 years old when he joined the staff and quickly struck up a dazzling creative rapport with the thirty-year-old Reiner. The two reteamed for "Caesar's Hour" for a few years before hitting upon an improvisatory premise that would launch their careers into the comedic stratosphere. In "The 2,000-Year-Old Man," Reiner deadpans as an interviewer asking after the exploits of a guy who...

What a perfectly executed finale (pun intended)!
Only Murders In the Building Season 2 Episode 10 ties two seasons of mystery and murder together with so many twists and turns that there was hardly room to breathe!
How many times did you gasp? When Mabel steered away from Cinda and accused Alice? When Alice "confessed"? When she "stabbed" Charles? When Poppy started laying into Cinda? It was a roller coaster!
God! This is really not feeling like a finale yet, is it?
Oliver Putnam Permalink: God! This is really not feeling like a finale yet, is it? Added: August 20, 2022
I'm still recovering from how fantastic this finale was. It was so funny, clever, and expertly paced. The reveals were doled out crumb by crumb until we finally had a delicious cake.
Let's dish it up!
Must you poop on every party, Charles?

On Only Murders In the Building Season 2 Episode 8, a blackout engulfs the entire tri-state area.
This episode has it all, folks -- romance, suspense, thrills, a Simon and Garfunkel singalong (complete with yodeling), and a cliffhanger reveal that will lead into the final two episodes.
There’s a thin line between civilization and chaos, and that line is electricity.

Only Murders In The Building Season 1 Episode 8 introduced us to the Arconiacs -- Sam (who narrated), Paulette, Marv, and Grant. In yet another parallel, this episode was narrated by Marv, the oldest of the fans.
Who wants to bet Season 3 Episode 8 will focus on Paulette, played by the delightful but currently underused Tony winner Ali Stroker?
Could there be any weight to Marv's theory about the 6th Avenue Slasher?...

Roughly 50 years after the first episode of “The Jetsons” premiered, fans are gearing up to celebrate the birth of George Jetson, which according to lore, is July 31, 2022. But is that really his birthday?
On Thursday, a hawk-eyed fan pointed out that “someone is about to give birth” to the show’s main character, via a fan site listing the family patriarch’s exact birthdate.
The animated sitcom created by William Hannah and Joseph Barbera took place in the 21st century. Although no mention to a specific year was ever made in the show, promotional materials and articles from the time explained that it was set exactly 100 years in the future, according to MeTV.
Further evidence can be found in the episode “Test Pilot,” which aired Dec. 30, 1962. When Jetson’s doctor tells him he “should live to be 150,” he replies, “I’ve got 110 good years ahead of me!” – making him 40 years old.

If there was any doubt that the future is here (for better or worse), just remember that you are now living in George Jetson’s lifetime. Animation fans are celebrating an important milestone this weekend, as several savvy Twitter users noticed that the Spacely Sprockets employee, husband to Jane, and father of June and Elroy, is said to be born on July 31, 2022. That still gives us 40 years before the events of the show begin, so there’s no need to feel bad about not having flying cars yet.

Editor’s Note: This article will discuss spoilers for the first six episodes of “Only Murders in the Building” Season 2.
The arrival of “Only Murders in the Building” Episode 6 brings us over halfway through the season. And while there are three more episodes to make an argument for a killer, odds are you have your theories. Like last season, some characters seem like obvious red herrings (Alice?). Maybe it’s a character we’ve known for years, like cat-lover Howard Morris. It can’t be Amy Schumer playing herself, could it?
Let’s look back at the season so far and see where we stand on who killed Arconia owner Bunny Folger.

On Only Murders In the Building Season 2 Episode 4, Charles gets another pass at fatherhood, several prominent characters from Only Murders in the Building Season 1 make a comeback, and Nina is not as wild a card as she used to be.

It's the Lucy episode!
Back when we first found out about Charles's almost-stepdaughter in Only Murders In The Building Season 1 Episode 4, we could understand the depth of his loss and why he has lived such a lonely existence.
The relationship between Lucy and Charles is lovely. Family comes in all forms. He was like a dad to her, so why shouldn't they stay in touch? He was her main father figure for six years.
The way they speak about Emma suggests that Charles's ex/Lucy's mother may have some instability issues.

One of Mel Brooks’ comedic masterworks is 1974’s “Young Frankenstein” starring Gene Wilder as Dr. F and Peter Boyle as the Monster. So, it seems apropos that the first movie the 95-year-old Egot ever saw was James Whale’s 1931 “Frankenstein” starring Boris Karloff as the Monster. During a recent Zoom conversation with Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning writer/producer Larry Karaszewski for his autobiography “All About Me: My Remarkable Life in Show Business,” Brooks admitted the film terrified him.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary on October 3, “The Andy Griffith Show” is one of the most charming comedies in the history of American television. The CBS program was never outside of the top seven in TV ratings throughout its eight-year run and continues a strong six-decade domination in syndication.
Starting with the 1960 debut as a spinoff from “The Danny Thomas Show,” the series starred comedian Andy Griffith as Andy Taylor, sheriff of small-town Mayberry in North Carolina. One of the keys to the popularity was casting Don Knotts as bumbling but well-meaning deputy Barney Fife. Audiences got to know the young Ron Howard as Andy’s son Opie, long before his successful time on “Happy Days” and decades before his Oscar-winning career as a film director and producer.

When it comes to displaying the warmth and California style of the characters on Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, Devorah Herbert continually finds inspiration around her, whether she’s driving around LA, or at a friend’s home.
“That authenticity in the sets is a huge part in my mind of the success of a show,” says the two-time Emmy nominated production designer, “You want people to feel that it’s really real, so that they can relate to it.”
Starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in the title roles, the Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston co-starring comedy from Skydance has been an international success for Netflix since its debut in 2015. The word rang out this morning in the world of laughter. A member of comedy royalty had taken his last well-deserved bow.
Here’s how the AP news service spread the word:
New York (AP) — Carl Reiner, the ingenious and versatile writer, actor and director who broke through as a “second banana” to Sid Caesar and rose to comedy’s front ranks as creator of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and straight man to Mel Brooks’ “2000 Year Old Man,” has died. He was 98.
Reiner’s assistant Judy Nagy said he died Monday night of natural causes at his home in Beverly Hills, California.
While he made significant contributions to the worlds of live theatre, television, recordings, and literature, we at Wamg would like to applaud his body of work in motion pictures: acting, writing and directing. But in order to begin, lets’ double back to TV. Carl first achieved worldwide...

Carl Reiner, the comedian, writer, director and actor whose contributions to the development of television comedy are rivaled by few others, died Monday night of natural causes at his home in Beverly Hills. He was 98.
Just three days before his passing, Reiner — the father of actor and director Rob Reiner — tweeted what now seems his public goodbye: “Nothing pleases me more than knowing that I have lived the best life possible by having met & marrying the gifted Estelle (Stella) Lebost – who partnered with me in bringing Rob, Annie & Lucas Reiner into this needy & evolving world.”
Reiner was among the pioneering comedic minds — along with Mel Brooks, Neil Simon, Woody Allen, Larry Gelbart, among others, who, in the 1950s, co-wrote and appeared on the Sid Caesar programs Caesar’s Hour and Your Show of Shows, setting the template for sketch comedy that endures today in Saturday Night Live and late-night talk show humor.

Welcome to this week’s All Elite Wrestling: Dark review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and I’m watching this “I’m Not Your Negro” documentary. I like it, but Samuel L. Jackson’s overly-performed narration highlighted why writers and artists tend to be the wrong people to deliver any kind of important message. Hell, look at this bull-shit paragraph I just wrote. Never fully trust a writer unless it’s a confession of guilt (and even then…). Okay, the sermon’s over and Dark has Robert Anthony fighting Jon Moxley in the main event.

The Annihilators is a Spring 1985-lensed action film with lots of action and zero excitement. Coming on the heels of Ted Kotcheff’s masterful 1982 Vietnam-themed film version of David Morrell’s 1972 novel, First Blood, which itself spawned several lifeless sequels including the latest and critically reviled Rambo: Last Blood a mere 37 years after the superior original.. The admittedly low-budget and bargain-basement Annihilators uses a familiar theme to string together several long-winded and ultimately soporific action set pieces that consist primarily of master shots with very little intercutting and close-ups, but not before we get a credit sequence which sets the appearance of onscreen names to the sound of machine gun fire. Clever! The 1980s were a time of teen sex comedies, Freddy Krueger nightmares, and action films. The superior examples of the latter, Mad Max 2/The Road Warrior (1981), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), and Escape From New York...

After 94 episodes of laughs, Grace and Frankie is coming to an end.
The series will end after a seventh season which will consist of 16 episodes. The show's sixth season recently wrapped production and is slated to debut January 2020.
That means there's still a significant amount of time before the series will officially be over.
The early renewal makes the series Netflix's longest-running original to date, meaning it will be making history when it signs off the air, presumably in 2021.
Fonda, Tomlin, Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Baron Vaughn, and Ethan Embry will all return for the seventh and final season.

“It's thrilling and somehow fitting, that our show about the challenges, as well as the beauty and dignity of aging, will be the oldest show on Netflix.” said co-creators and showrunners Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris.

“Grace and Frankie” has been renewed for a seventh and final season, Netflix said Wednesday, adding that the supersize final season would have 16 episodes (three more than the previous seasons).
That additional episode order means that by the end of its run, the Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda-led comedy will be the longest-running Netflix original series ever, including both comedy and drama, with 94 episodes.
Season 6, which wrapped production earlier this year, will launch on the streaming service in January 2020 and star Fonda, Tomlin, Sam Waterston, Martin Sheen, June Diane Raphael, Brooklyn Decker, Baron Vaughn and Ethan Embry, who will all return to reprise their roles in the final season.

Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris will return as showrunners and executive producers of the final season, alongside executive producers Paula Weinstein, Robbie Tollin, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross.

TV writer Greg Garcia grew up obsessing over sitcoms and comedy — which is why it’s fitting that he wound up in the profession, creating such memorable hits as “My Name Is Earl,” “Raising Hope,” “Yes, Dear,” and his current TBS anthology series, “The Guest Book.”
But he’s still a fan first and foremost, which is why he couldn’t wait recently to finally meet one of his idols, Jerry Seinfeld. It didn’t go as well as he had hoped.
As a kid, Garcia would sneak a peek at “The Tonight Show,” when he was supposed to be asleep, in the hopes that he’d catch Seinfeld as a guest. “I kept watching his career going on, and felt this bond with this person whom I had never met in my life,” he told IndieWire.

At 96 years old, Carl Reiner became the oldest Emmy nominee in history this year for narrating the HBO documentary “If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast,” which he also stars in. It’s not a bad record to break, especially considering, as he reveals, the film “fell into my lap accidentally.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Reiner above.

The film didn't click with Brooks's usual audience at the time, perhaps because the film is laced with social commentary. Brooks obviously ignored the old Hollywood advice to "Leave the messages to Western Union". Nonetheless, it's precisely because of this departure from his usual productions that gives "Life Stinks" a certain poignancy that isn't found in his earlier works. Granted, Brooks always included some sentiment in his films (even Zero Mostel's Max Byalystock in "The Producers" is con man with some admirable traits.) However, "Life Stinks" makes a plea for compassion toward society's most vulnerable people, even as it concentrates on the primary purpose of any Brooks film: to make the audience laugh.

Released in 1962, Boys' Night Out was considered to be a rather racy comedy that touched upon sexual infidelity in the era when June and Ward Cleaver represented the average American household. The story centers on four businessmen- James Garner, Tony Randall, Howard Duff and Howard Morris- who indulge in a weekly night out that consists of nothing more daring than having some drinks and discussing sex. In a moment of deviancy, they decide to chip in and rent a plush Manhattan apartment, with Garner- the only bachelor of the group- acting as the beard and putting the lease in his name. They then intend to hire a hot blonde to service them on different nights of the week. The plan seems to work swimmingly. The apartment is rented and the requisite blonde (Kim Novak) appears ready, willing and able to indulge. What they don't know is...

It’s tough to say goodbye to Sid Caesar. I’ve been pondering what I can possibly say about a comedy legend who has been around as long as I can remember and contributed so much to comedy, mostly on television but also many times in motion pictures.
Firstly Sid Caesar was in on the ground floor of television, his earliest programs done live in 1949 before the video switch board had even been invented. In those earliest shows the director was on the stage telling the floor managers which cameras and mikes to hook or unhook to the coax and audio cables! Consider that just for a moment!
Caesar’s wonderful book Caesar’s Hours: My Life in Comedy, with Love and Laughter, co written with Eddie Friedfeld tells all about Sid Caesar’s years in show business and the legendary live variety shows; Your Show of Shows...

Sid Caesar’s funeral service was held on Sunday afternoon, February 16 at a private ceremony in Los Angeles. Among the family and friends paying tribute was Sid’s biographer and friend, Cinema Retro’s Eddy Friedfeld, who co-authored Sid’s creative biography, Caesar’s Hours, published by Public Affairs in 2003.
What follows is the eulogy Eddy delivered before Sid's family, friends and colleagues.
Sid said that, like Isaac Newton, he stood on the shoulders of giants, his inspirations- Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Laurel and Hardy and W.C. Fields, who helped him develop his career and craft. Today, Sid, we stand on your shoulders- and celebrate your life, your art, your warmth, character, and friendship. You did things no one else could do and you inspired many others, including people in this room, to take the same artistic risks.

The death of funnyman Sid Caesar leaves precious few legends remaining from the Golden Age of American television comedy. Caesar was one of the giants of 1950s TV and his series Your Show of Shows and Caesar's Hour were considered training grounds for future legendary comedy writers such as Carl Reiner, Howard Morris, Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart Neil Simon and Woody Allen. Caesar also appeared in many feature films including a leading role in the blockbuster 1963 comedy It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. In the 1960s, however, his career was derailed due to his personal demons such as battles with alcoholism and substance abuse. By the 1980s, he had conquered these weaknesses and found a welcome audience still respectful of his talents. His other feature film appearances include The Busy Body, The Spirit is Williing, Grease and Silent Movie. Click here to read more about his remarkable career. ...

A true television legend has died. Sid Caesar, who influenced generations of comedy writers and performers, passed away earlier today in Los Angeles. He was 91 years old.
Born to immigrant parents in 1922, Caesar made his first television appearance on Milton Berle's Texaco Star Theater in the late 40's. He soon met NBC president Pat Weaver and landed his first TV series, The Admiral Broadway Revue, with Imogene Coca.
In 1950, he appeared on the first episode of Your Show of Shows, a 90-minute variety show. The series featured comedy sketches, satires, monologues, musical guests and production numbers -- an early predecessor to Saturday Night Live (which Caesar guest-hosted in 1983). On-screen talent included Caesar, Carl Reiner, Howard Morris, and Imogene Coca. Backstage, the show's legendary writing staff included Mel Brooks, Neil Simon, Mel Tolkin and Danny Simon.

An overwhelming majority of entertainers seem less important in retrospect. As the years pass, the shade of their shadows fades and fades until their individual effect on the horizon is barely noticeable at all. With Sid Caesar, however, the opposite is true. Following years in the military in which he contributed to various shows and revues, Caesar began working on movies and television shows in the late 1940s. In 1949, NBC handed him a variety hour called The Admiral Broadway Revue. That led into Your Show Of Shows, widely considered one of the greatest variety programs in TV history, as well as Caesar.s Hour and a ton of subsequent specials. Brilliant writers and actors like Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Imogene Coca, Howard Morris, Bea Arthur, Jackie Cooper, Larry Gelbart, Neil Simon and Woody Allen were all given a microphone or a typewriter to prove their talent thanks to Caesar. Collectively,...
