Now that we’ve seen the first teaser for Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel fans everywhere are gearing up for the arrival of the long awaited team-up movie next May. The cast and crew of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though, are still knee-deep in production on Infinity War‘s follow up, the currently untitled Avengers 4.
To remind us of this, two of the movie’s stars have recently taken to their Instagram accounts to share some behind-the-scenes sneak peeks at how their characters are realized on screen. First up, Mark Ruffalo posted a shot of himself in the motion capture “pajamas” that are used to track his physical on set performance as the Hulk, allowing the visual effects team to replace him with the Jade Giant in the finished piece.
Even though he’s a veteran at this process by now, Ruffalo still can’t get his head around the way that it works,...

On Tuesday's America's Got Talent, the show paid tribute to Brandon Rogers, who died in a car accident on June 11, after already having filmed his audition.
Agt explained that, at the request of Rogers' family, they were honoring the 29-year-old singer's memory by sharing his audition.
Rogers, who was a doctor of family medicine, was interviewed before his performance, and opened up about his ideal life. "If I could find a way to combine being a doctor and medicine with singing, that would be a dream come true," he shared.
In his audition, Rogers performed a soulful, touching cover of Stevie Wonder's 1982 classic "Ribbon in the Sky," that had Mel B singing along from the judges' table.

In the Franken home, there’s at least one point of contention.
“Stuart Smalley is in heaven,” says Franni Franken. “He was such a sweet man, he died peacefully in his sleep.”
“No!” protests her husband, Al Franken. “He’s not dead.”
In an interview with People for this week’s issue, Al, the U.S. senator from Minnesota who earlier spent 15 years as a writer, a performer and, yes, as Stuart Smalley on Saturday Night Live, explains that his most iconic character from the show is aging gracefully—out of sight.

Kino Lorber has released a Blu-ray edition of the 1963 action adventure film "Kings of the Sun", a movie that has largely faded into relative obscurity. In viewing for the first time since its initial release I was pleasantly surprised at how impressive the film is on any number of levels. For one, it takes place during a period that has been largely untouched by Hollywood in that it is set in the era of the ancient Mayans. One must deal with the fact that the historical aspects of the screenplay are largely hokum. The story opens with the Mayan people mourning the death of its king in battle against a rival tribe led by the blood-thirsty Hunac Ceel (Leo Gordon). The new heir apparent is Balam (George Chakiris), a young man who must instantly assume his father's throne and responsibilities. These include the practice of human sacrifice to appease the gods.

From Wonder Woman to Red Sonja, here are the female comic book projects that we’ve missed out on…
Although Supergirl, Catwoman and Elektra are movies that exist, there are times when we wish they didn’t. To be honest, the ‘perfect’ female-headlined superhero movie is still the stuff of our cinematic dreams. Saying that, TV’s Agent Carter provided us with a brilliant example of bringing a female comic book character to the small screen earlier this year, which hopefully Hollywood will learn a lot from going forward.
Of course, Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel will be joining their respective cinematic universes soon, with Supergirl getting a pop at small screen success too. It looks like female comic book heroes will be getting the attention they deserve in the live action realm, finally.
This isn’t the first time the powers-that-be in Hollywood have tried to launch a slate of female superheroes,...

In her intro to an in-depth interview, Anne Thompson writes: "After a decade, screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, who first met in the 1980s at USC film school, thought their Margaret Keane biopic 'Big Eyes' would never get made. They were used to their delightfully idiosyncratic outsider tales not being deemed commercial by the studios. Filmmakers Tim Burton did embrace 'Ed Wood,' and Milos Forman championed both 'The People vs. Larry Flynt' and Andy Kaufman portrait 'Man on the Moon.' But many other scripts sat on the shelf, from 'Ripley's Believe It or Not' to biopics about the Marx Brothers, The Village People, Sid and Marty Krofft and Rollen Stewart a.k.a. 'Rainbow Man.' This time Alexander and Karaszewski were hoping to direct 'Big Eyes' themselves. But when suddenly Christoph Waltz offered an opportunity to get the film made, they grabbed that chance.

From rock operas to Wes Craven to Dazzler, here's some Marvel movies that never quite made it...
Recently, we looked at the DC movies that never got the greenlight. We saw hordes of Superman movies which didn’t make it to screen, along with Batman film ideas and whole hosts of other DC heroes whose movies plummeted out of production (You can read that piece here).
On the other side of the superhero cinema fence, we have the seemingly all-encompassing, game-changing Marvel Cinematic Universe at the height of its powers, the X-Men franchise in rude health and the still-fresh memory of Spider-Man’s hasty reboot. You could be forgiven for thinking that not as many Marvel movies have struggled to get made as their DC counterparts.
However, having delved once more into the ancient scrolls of cinema history (still better known as extensive Googling), we can confirm there’s plenty...

This news is tearing me apart! Apparently James Franco is set to produce a movie based on Greg Sestero‘s book The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside the Room, a memoir about Sestero’s acting gig in the 2003 cult classic — and touted “worst movie of all time” — The Room. Franco will star in the project too, presumably as The Room‘s director and star Tommy Wiseau, and he’ll be camping it up alongside Seth Rogen and his brother Dave Franco, who will probably play Sestero. Sigh, Dave Franco. Nudity is always a good option for him!

It’s a place that celebrates a very simple notion: that no matter what your story is – this is your city. Our strength is derived from you. Working together, we will make this One City. While Justin Timberlake has been churning out gold and platinum records this year with his two-part album The 20/20 Experience (it's incredible by the way), the singer turned actor will go behind the scenes of the music industry for a gestating film called Spinning Gold. As we learned a couple years ago, the film would see Timberlake playing record producer Neil Bogart, the co-founder of Casablanca Records and pillar of the 70's music scene. Now THR has word that Spike Lee is in early talks to direct the project that Timberlake is also producing along with the subject's son Timothy Scott Bogart, who also wrote the script. The film will tell the story of Bogart's life as a poor Jewish kid from Brooklyn who would grow up to launch the careers of such iconic recording artists as Kiss, Donna Summer, Gladys Knight, Bill Withers, The Village People and plenty of other disco stars.

Bogart launched the careers of a number of stars including Gladys Knight, Bill Withers, Donna Summer, The Village People and Kiss.
Speaking to WENN about playing the bi-lingual head of Casablanca records, Timberlake said: "I can barely speak English but I do have a pretty good ear, so I'm good at mimicking things that are told to me in Spanish.
"If it was an all-Spanish speaking movie I feel it would be my responsibility to learn the language, but, as it turned out I play a guy from Princeton who has to learn a little Spanish. I know a little bit from travelling."
The film, set to be called Spinning Gold, is currently still in development.

It was first announced around eighteen months ago, but the needle now seems to be firmly in the groove for Spinning Gold. The biopic of famous music exec Neil Bogart will star Justin Timberlake, with studio Foresight backing the project. RCA are also aboard to deal with the soundtrack. The gold in the title refers to the classic pop choons of the 1970s, while the spinning refers to "records", which older readers will recall as a medium in which people bought and played music in the days before you could steal buy it from the internet. Neil Bogart was the famous American record executive behind Kiss, T. Rex, Donna Summer and The Village People, and was widely credited with the rise of bubblegum pop. He was no relation to Humphrey (his real name was Bogatz) but named the label he founded Casablanca because hey, why not? He worked in tandem with Peter Guber,...

Once upon a time I wrote a column called "Bad Movies We Love," and I feel close enough to you to admit that -- actually? -- I don't love bad movies. I would rather watch something good, weirdly. I'm sensitive when it comes to reserving time for woefully bad cinema, and that's why I want to help kick off your summer with the essential gay stinkbombs. Summer is the best time to gather your friends at 11 a.m. on a Saturday, gather around the thespian sorcery of Elizabeth Berkley, and cry, cry, and laugh until you're whole. Let's celebrate the worst of the best of the worst!

Democracy is a flawed concept. Here are 50 films that the IMDb voters would unfairly have you believe are worth no more than 5.9/10…
Six out of ten isn’t a very good score, really. It’s barely over half marks. 60 per cent. It’s alright, but it’s not great. You wouldn’t be proud of getting six out of ten on most kinds of tests, would you? So you might assume that any film that scores under six stars out of ten on the IMDb isn’t very good – possibly even terrible.
But that’s not always the case. Averages don’t tell the whole story; anything that’s potentially controversial or divisive will end up with a score that suggests most people weren’t that bothered about it, since high and low scores will be averaged – and IMDb users often exaggerate their scores anyway, giving a film one star...

More than 200 artists have performed on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve since it debuted 40 years ago, and in tonight’s countdown of the Top 40 performances, Jennifer Lopez (and her bedazzled bodysuit) took the crown. See the full list below. Things we learned watching Fergie and Jenny McCarthy host tonight’s live two-hour countdown special: The crowd dancing in the ’80s was so much better than today, Rick Springfield actually pulled off that pink suit (which is, we assume, why his name and “Jessie’s Girl” trended on Twitter), and meeting McCarthy was one loud man’s life dream.

Ever since the music charts started 50 years ago, musicians have been consistently blighted by the nation’s inexplicable penchant for “novelty” tracks such as Bob the Builder and Mr Blobby, or for the past several years, the X Factor beating them to one of the most coveted accolades of the year – the Chistmas Number One. To document the greatest songs which never quite made it, we’ve compiled this Top 10 highlighting the most memorable Christmas Number 2’s.
Songs include lounge singer Mike Flowers’ spoof cover of Wonderwall by Oasis, beaten by Michael Jackson’s saccharine Earth Song (1995), Bachman Turner Overdrive’s rock classic You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet which fell at the last hurdle to Mud’s Lonely This Christmas in (1974) and Take That’s Patience, robbed of its glory by Leona Lewis’s A Moment Like This (2006). There are also a few surprises in the form of pop classic Last Christmas by Wham!

Queen have topped a list naming the catchiest songs in music history. Scientists have researched what variables in a song inspire people to sing along in public, the Daily Record reports. Experts found that the impromptu urge to sing along to a song can be credited to four different elements. These are a long and detailed musical phrase, multiple pitch changes in a song's hook, the song being led by a male vocalist and the male vocal being in a higher key. Queen's 'We Are The Champions' came out on top, while The Village People's 'Y.M.C.A.' and Sum 41's 'Fat Lip' came in second and third respectively. 'The Final Countdown' by Europe and 'Monster' by The Automatic completed the top five. Music psychologist Dr Daniel Mullensiefen explained: "Every musical hit is reliant (more)...

Remember when Justin Timberlake was a musician?
The pop-star-turned-actor's music career might seem like a far-off memory, but an upcoming project might form a nice bridge between Timberlake past and present.
According to Deadline, Timberlake has agreed to star in a biopic about '70s record producer Neil Bogart, who launched the careers of Kiss and disco icons Parliament, Donna Summer, and The Village People, among others on his Casablanca Records label. Titled "Spinning Gold," the project will also mark Timberlake's debut as a movie producer.
The film is written by Bogart's son, writer/producer Tim Bogart, and will chronicle the record producer's path from poor Brooklyn kid to multimillionaire music mogul. Bogart was 39 when he died of cancer in 1982, so Timberlake seems age-appropriate for the role.
"We needed an young actor who can carry this picture," said Tim Bogart of casting Timberlake as a younger version of his father.

Justin Timberlake has been letting the music side of his career cool for a bit, but now he's set to bridge acting and music by jumping into a music-industry biopic. He's signed for a film called Spinning Gold, in which he'll play '70s producer/mogul Neil Bogart, who co-founded big-time '70s label Casablanca Records. The label was known by many as a disco and funk house, thanks to artists like Donna Summer, The Village People, and Parliament. But Casablanca was launched when Bogart signed Kiss, and the label released all the band's records until 1982, when Bogart died. Casablanca was absorbed into Mercury Records in '83.
