Lesli Klainberg, president of Film at Lincoln Center for a decade, will be stepping down this fall after the upcoming New York Film Festival, which runs Sept. 27- Oct. 13.
Flc’s board will form a search committee to recruit a new leader, the nonprofit film organization said. It’s tapped Matt Bolish as deputy director to work with Klainberg during a transition period. Bolish is VP, Operations at Flc and managing director of the New York Film Festival.
“My tenure at Film at Lincoln Center has been one of the most rewarding periods in my professional life,” said Klainberg. “After over a decade as President and 14 New York Film Festivals come September, I am proud of how the organization has transformed and what we have accomplished. I’m leaving with a passionate and committed team in place.”

We checked out the official novelization of the movie Predator. It was clearly written from an early draft of the script...
Predator is a classic of the sci-fi genre, featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger at the peak of his powers, John McTiernan’s taut direction, a killer concept and a record number of quality one-liners. It’s a seamless fusion of action and horror, providing viewers with a squad of badass, muscley dudes with big guns – who are ultimately helpless in the face of a literally out of this world threat.
It’s a testament to McTiernan’s skill that a potentially cheesy concept still holds up today, but it didn’t always seem like a slam-dunk. Scholars of Predator have undoubtedly seen the pictures of the original creature, where an unknown Jean-Claude Van Damme donned a costume to play a ridiculous looking monster that wouldn’t cut the...

Hello all, Manuel here with a number of Lgbt-related news to kick off your Monday.
- Let’s start with the pretty. Love these images of the Looking boys for their OUT100 spread. The magazine named the HBO series TV show of the year. HBO's been busy hosting their Artists Series where they invited some select lucky few to visit the set, keeping social media abreast of what the boys are up to. Check it out: #LookingForPatrick #LookingForAgustin #LookingForDom
Oh and look, a teaser trailer for season 2!
- Speaking of HBO (1), they’re going ahead on the provocatively titled series Bros Before Hos which centers on a queer black man and well, his brothers. The show is from the team behind Red Tails and, more recently, Dear White People. The show, they state, aims to "reflect the growing diversity of the American experience." You can check out a rough cut...

Kill Your Darlings made a splash at Sundance for first-time director John Krokidas, and not just because it starred Daniel Radcliffe as a budding collegiate writer named Allen Ginsberg. It presented a stylish, yet un-romanticized vision of Columbia University in the ’40s, a handful of recognizable stars as young literary icons (including Jack Huston as Jack Kerouac and Ben Foster as William S. Burroughs), and a largely unknown story of the murder that brought the Beat Generation together. It’s also a distinctly gay narrative during an awards season that has left us largely bereft of Lgbt characters, with the exception of Dallas Buyers Club and Blue is the Warmest Color. Kill Your Darlings is historical in scope but modern in its depiction of intellectual gay men and their gorgeous muse Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan in a breakout role).

Q: On last week’s episode of The Amazing Race, both Sam and Dan’s groin areas were pixelated during their mudflats volleyball game in Tallinn, Estonia – but no one else was. Upon arrival at the mudflats volleyball court, Sam, after a thorough survey of their male competitors, remarked how gorgeous and good-looking they all were in their black trunks. Could it be a case of uncontrolled standing ovation or just attire malfunction? – Anonymous

A: What are you suggesting – that they both had uncontrolled standing ovations? That makes me wonder what’s in the water back in Liberty, Missouri.
But it’s true: plenty of viewers were perplexed by the curious case of the pixilation of the underwear of Amazing Race’s hot gay brothers.

The Ifp has just released the ten projects selected for their Independent Filmmaker Lab, hosted by Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn. For five days this week the filmmaking teams will participate in workshops in which they receive advice on technical, creative, and post-production issues. There are two tiers of mentorship support: via the program’s Lab Leaders who lead each of the five-day-long intensive sessions, and workshop leaders who provide technical, creative and strategic support to help bring films to completion. The 2009 Documentary Lab leaders are producer Lori Cheatle (51 Birch Street) and producer Lesli Klainberg (Paul Monette: The Brink of Summer’s End, IFC’s Indie Sex). Workshop leaders include, amongst others: composer T....
