Things that I love about "Dancing with the Stars." Tom Bergeron's dry wit. Bruno Tonioli's exuberance. The 10 Commandments of Len. Melanie Mills' Emmy award-winning team of makeup artists (Zena, Angela, Nadege, Patti and Barbi) and their trailer o'glamour gurl fun. Pretty Brooke Burke as Tom's wingwoman. Last but not least, the mesmerizing footwork of the pro dancers who elevate their star charges in weekly boot camps, as we watch them grow and get better. Tonight saw pro dancers Mark Ballas and Val Chemerkovskiy ( Maks' brother) performed a string instrument duel: Ballas played guitar, Chemerkovskiy played violin, doing very physical dances in a duel described by Tom Bergeron as "High Noon in spandex." Unfortunately tonight, "Drop Dead...

When we watched the "Dancing with the Stars" premiere earlier this week, we were struck by a few things: The Situation was always roughly two beats behind, Rick Fox was super-handsome and, most importantly, Brandy's makeup stayed flawless throughout her entire dance! We tracked down the 'Dwts' on-set makeup artist, Melanie Mills, who revealed that she perfected Brandy's skin with Smart Cover makeup. Formulated to camouflage skin imperfections like acne scars, blemishes, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, Smart Cover makeup creates the illusion of complexion perfection and it lasts for hours -- even through a marathon dance routine! To score this gorgeous look at home, try the Smart Cover-up Kit ($27.95, smartcover.com).

Monsters and Critics' Smallscreen editor April MacIntyre spent the entire day yesterday inside the makeup trailer sitting amongst all the stars and pros. Every year I am invited to report on the entire arsenal of beauty products that the Emmy award winning team uses for the cast of "Dancing with the Stars." It is a full day affair. Last night on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," actress Shannen Doherty and Mark Ballas were voted off in a shock bottom two that included a visibly distraught Pamela Anderson, who was made up to perfection by Melanie Mills, the Emmy winning makeup artist who heads up a team of makeup maestros. Shannen and Pamela Anderson had higher scores than the annoying Kate Gosselin and perpetually Space program promoting Buzz Aldrin, but the people voted for these laggards based on popularity. Doherty, who decided to participate in the competition at the request of her father, who suffered a stroke in December, said the experience was gratifying despite her early departure. .I did what I set out to do,. she...

Natalie Coughlin should not have been eliminated last night. The tall, muscular Olympian swimmer was a natural on the dance floor, and head and shoulders better than Osbourne, Hart, and Vito, who should have been shunted off. Coughlin and professional dance partner Alec Mazo were eliminated Tuesday after judges and viewers gave them a mediocre grade for their Paso Doble. Monsters and Critics visited the set of Dwts Monday and spoke to Natalie, who was very excited about being there and loved the experience and the challenge. It's a good day for funny people, especially if your name is Tina Fey or Seth MacFarlane.
Fey's series, 30 Rock, was handed 22 Emmy nominations this morning, which stands as a record for a comedy series. She and Alec Baldwin were also nominated for acting awards. Plus, for the first time some of the other actors on NBC's laffer were recognized. Jane Krakowski, Jack McBrayer and Tracy Morgan all picked up supporting nominations.
MacFarlane's Family Guy was also nominated for best comedy series, the first time an animated show has cracked that category since The Flintstones in 1961. Two years ago MacFarlane decided to pull his show from contention in the animated series category to have it considered for best comedy.
Mad Men, the drama about the advertising world in the sixties, picked up 16 nominations in the drama categories, including a best actor nod for Jon Hamm. Hamm is also nominated as...

"Dancing with the Stars' is ramping up now, and the really good dancers (I would have traded Dag for Lawrence Taylor, sorry), are left and they are kicking their heels up and going for it. Melissa has proven she is a gifted hoofer, and Melanie Mills's makeup artist team and hair department turned her into an Argentine vamp, perfect wardrobe too that allowed the Texan to snap those legs of hers all around Tony Dovolani. Their dance made Bruno practically re-enact the orgasm scene from "When Harry Met Sally." Bruno must never leave this show. Carrie Ann called their routine the best Argentine tango of the season Melissa Rycroft and Tony scored 29 out of possible 30.
