John Miller-Monzon aka JMM is a veteran story and fact driven creative producer for film & tv.
In the documentary arena, JMM's first notable projects were two Emmy-nominated miniseries, A Decade Under the Influence and Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues: A Musical Journey. His feature & television documentary credits include Oscar winner The Cove, Indie Spirit Award winner Crazy Love, Peabody Award winner Black Magic and the popular Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.
Additional credits include Emmy winner Mission Blue, PGA Award nominee A Place at the Table, Imagen Award winner Viva Baseball!, critical favorite Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened, and Fangoria Chainsaw nominee Amityville: An Origin Story. Most recently, JMM produced The Vow Part Two for HBO and co-produced the feature documentaries Gloria: I Will Survive and Men of War.
JMM launched his freelance producing career with Comedy Central's cult sitcom, Strangers With Candy, starring Stephen Colbert & Amy Sedaris. Additional scripted comedy credits include IFC TV's The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman, starring Laura Kightlinger & Nicholle Tom, and CMT's Still the King, starring Billy Ray Cyrus & Joey Lauren Adams.
As a development executive, JMM first worked for Independent Film Channel & IFC Films, subsequently returning to IFC TV as interim Director of Development, before becoming Director of Development for News & Documentaries for Viacom's CMT network where he launched the CMT Docs banner. Credits include reality series Gainesville, documentary miniseries NASCAR: The Rise of American Speed and the acclaimed theatrical features The Bandit, Chicken People, and If I Leave Here Tomorrow: A Film About Lynyrd Skynyrd.
A graduate of Columbia University's prestigious M.F.A. program in screenwriting & filmmaking, Miller-Monzon's thesis film, Things We Said Today, was released in the U.S. by Frameline Distribution and Wolfe Video, and widely programmed at festivals worldwide, followed by another international festival hit, Some of These Days.
