Back in 1998, the world saw the first season of That '70s Show, the Fox sitcom that became definitive for the whole generation of back-then teens. Following the tricky lives of a group of six teenage friends of the fictional Point Place, Wisconsin, it attracted millions of viewers until it concluded with the eighth season in 2008.
The sitcom was so successful that its showrunners came up with the idea of the sequel That '90s Show, 10 episodes of which were released on Netflix last January, focusing on the children of the original characters. Thus, the main characters of the follow-up were Leia Forman, the daughter of Eric and Donna, and Jay Kelso, Michael and Jackie’s son.
The parents’ actors reprised their iconic roles, making small appearances in the show. When That '90s Show was renewed for a second season, fans started to hope they will see their favorite characters one more time,...

Mila Kunis is shutting down the possibility of returning to That ’90s Show Season 2, including Ashton Kutcher.
In a new interview, the actress revealed that she and Kutcher would not be reprising their That ’70s Show characters when the sequel series returns to Netflix.
“No,” Kunis told Et when asked if she and her husband Kutcher would return to the sitcom. “I mean, we did our thing, and they introduced our son in the show.”
Kunis, who was on the red carpet of the PaleyFest in L.A. to celebrate Family Guy, where she voices Meg Griffin, was alongside her co-star Seth Green, who interjected to say he would guest star on That ’90s Show.
“I’ve already done an episode of it, and I’m going back to do another one,” Green said.
Green had a recurring role on That ’70s Show, playing Mitch Miller, the nemesis of Topher Grace’s Eric Forman.

That ’70s Show has been a popular favorite since it debuted in 1998. While the sitcom aired, another teen-focused drama ran alongside it — Buffy the Vampire Slayer. While the series didn’t have a lot in common, both were very popular with the target audience. And they even featured a few of the same actors.

In the Season Four finale of Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Tony Bennett managed to be arguably the episode’s biggest star without having to show his face or sing a note.
The episode — “How Do You Get to Carnegie Hall?,” written and directed by the streaming comedy’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino — took place immediately before and after famously risqué comedian Lenny Bruce (played by Luke Kirby) performed his historic Feb. 2, 1961 gig at Carnegie Hall, with the show’s title character and Bruce having a conversation that wraps around Bennett, portrayed as the epitome of class and the pinnacle of what an artist should be.
The star’s son and longtime manager, Danny Bennett, says that no one in the production came to him to ask any permissions, and only used Tony’s likeness on a newspaper ad relating to the gig at the Copa. “That show’s so great,...

It’s a new deluxe Limited Edition of Sam Peckinpah’s mangled masterpiece, the third fancy boxed set in as many years. Arrow’s presentation is certainly got the edge in graphic elegance. They’ve also strived to include as many earlier extras as possible, plus new analytical-critical takes on the picture, and an excellent (and wickedly funny) visual essay from David Cairns. The disc has both of my commentaries, including the comprehensive one that details the missing scenes with information taken directly from Sam Peckinpah and Oscar Saul’s screenplay. And hey, you never know: this could be the year that Mitch Miller’s Singalong Gang makes an incredible comeback, and we can All fall in behind the Major.

Stephen Colbert broke down all the sniping, griping and ramblings of the third Democratic primary debate on a live edition of The Late Show Thursday.
Airing immediately after the debate wrapped, Colbert spent his monologue showing highlights and slinging one-liners. He touched on Kamala Harris’ slow turn-around on certain criminal justice issues (“Are you a cop, you have to tell me if you’re a cop?”), Beto O’Rourke’s no-nonsense gun control plan (“That takes courage, and not just political courage — people in Texas have a lot of guns!

It’s difficult to find an aspect of popular culture that Hugh Hefner didn’t influence during his long, remarkable life. Spanning journalism, television, film, fashion and, of course, sexuality, his impact on music is one of the least heralded aspects of his legacy. Over the course of two seasons, Hefner used his weekly syndicated variety show, Playboy After Dark, as a platform for a broad spectrum of artists.

Tonight, we were treated to Team Rita and Team Will, and there was no hanging about as we sped through the performances and then got the all important decisions. The Voice UK has been accused of plagiarism over Mitch Miller's audition on Saturday night's show.
Miller became the final member of coach Rita Ora's team at the weekend after a swing arrangement of Iggy Azalea's 'Fancy', but the group Postmodern Jukebox has now complained that the cover was copied from them.
Writing on Facebook yesterday, Postmodern Jukebox member Scott Bradlee posted the video and added: "Last night, [The Voice UK] played a note for note copy of our 1920s arrangement of Iggy Azalea's 'Fancy' (ft. the multitalented Ash Stroud on vocals & tap dance) without permission and without giving us any credit.

The Voice UK contestant Mitch Miller has joked that his coach Rita Ora was just as nervous as him when he completed her team in this weekend's show.
Miller, who won over Ora with his swing rendition of Iggy Azalea's 'Fancy', admitted that he can't remember his audition as it was so "surreal".

Golly, they left that to the last minute, didn't they? The coaches on The Voice UK have now completed their teams after the last episode of blind auditions - but for a while we weren't sure if they'd manage it, as Sir Tom and will.i.am left it to the final two acts. Talk about cutting it fine.
We don't actually know how they found time to turn for the six final acts in between all the confetti cannon hiding (will.i.am being sheepish is the best), dancing and singing to S Club's 'Reach', and general Ricky Wilson silliness (including, er, a striptease), but they did! Read on as we assess those lucky six (and the poor eight who didn't make it...)

The coaches all now have their teams of 12, which was good news for the six acts who made it through tonight - Vanessa Hunt, Autumn Sharif, Mitch Miller, Roisin Geraghty-McDonagh, Lisa Ward and Andrew Marc.
Yep, they all managed to bag a coveted spot on one of the coaches' teams, but with the battles fast approaching, we want to know who you're looking forward to seeing.
Which acts are you backing to go further in the competition? Let us know by voting in our poll...

The Voice UK coaches completed their teams tonight - but will.i.am left it to the very last minute.
Ricky Wilson was the first star to get a full group of contestants after picking up Autumn Sharif. He was followed by Rita Ora, who added Vanessa Hunt and Mitch Miller to her team to reach 12 acts.
Once Sir Tom Jones had picked up country singer Roisin Geraghty-McDonagh, both he and will.i.am had just one spot left.
However, both of them failed to turn for a number of acts until it reached the point where there were just two singers left waiting to audition - meaning that both Sir Tom and will.i.am had to turn for the penultimate singer, Lisa Ward from the Shetland Islands.
She chose to join Sir Tom's team, giving will.i.am no option but to turn for the very last auditionee...

As Cinema Retro gets inundated with DVDs to review during the course of any given year, it's virtually impossible to keep up with all of them in a timely manner. Here are some notable titles you should be aware of:
Cabaret Blu-ray (Warner Home Video): Warner Home Video has inherited the rights to Bob Fosse's classic 1972 film adaptation of the stage production that, in turn, was based on Christopher Isherwood's Berlin Stories. The Blu-ray comes packaged in one of those irresistible hardback book formats that is loaded with wonderful photos from the movie. The movie itself holds up superbly even after 40 years. The decline of Germany's Weimar Republic amidst the rise of National Socialism in the 1930s is seen through the eyes of nightclub singer Sally Bowles (Liza Minnelli) and her constant companions (Michael York, Helmut Griem) . Fosse's decision to emphasize the sleaze elements...

Twilight Time has released the 2005 restored version of Sam Peckinpah's Major Dundee as on Blu-ray, providing both the "improved" version of the film along with the controversial original cut. Peckinpah had won respect as a fine director of TV Westerns and his 1962 feature film, Ride the High Country, earned critical praise, particularly in Europe. Columbia hired Peckinpah to direct his first big budget film, Major Dundee, which top-lined two big stars: Charlton Heston and Richard Harris. As would prove to be the case throughout his career, Peckinpah's fiercely independent nature, combined with his propensity for snaring defeat from the jaws of victory, found him over his head on the production even before shooting started. Filmed in some inhospitable areas of Mexico, Peckinpah began shooting before the script was finalized (always a recipe for disaster). Midway through the film, Columbia was going to fire him for going...

Housing scheme became a byword for urban decay, but literature, photography and film flourished there
The demolition of a tower block on the Red Road estate in Glasgow on 10 June will mark the beginning of the end of one of Britain's most controversial housing developments.
Yet though the imposing high-rises became a byword for violence, alienation and crime, they will be missed by the many artists, writers and filmmakers who made it the subject of their work.
The most spectacular was a 2007 project organised by Artangel, in which artist Catherine Yass filmed and photographed tightrope walker Didier Pasquette attempting to cross the 45-metre (150ft) gap between the two tower blocks, which are 89m tall. High winds meant Pasquette had to turn back soon after starting his attempt.
The year before, director Andrea Arnold made her feature film debut with Red Road, a thriller about a female CCTV security operator who...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas on the Billboard 200 album chart, thanks to Justin Bieber.
Bieber's holiday album "Under the Mistletoe" debuts at No. 1 on the latest chart, having sold 210,000 copies in its first week. The chart-topping debut for the album also gives the 17-year-old Bieber a couple more lines in the record books.
He's the first male artist ever to debut at No. 1 with a Christmas album, according to Billboard. He also becomes the first solo artist to have three No. 1 albums before turning 18 -- "My World 2.0" and "Never Say Never: The Remixes" also topped the charts.
"Under the Mistletoe" is just the eighth holiday album to top the Billboard 200 chart, joining sets by Susan Boyle, Josh Groban, Kenny G, Mitch Miller (twice), Bing Crosby and Elvis Presley.
About the only thing missing for Bieber is a TV special to celebrate the season/promote his album. Somehow...

Recording artist and TV host Mitch Miller has passed away. He died on Saturday at the Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. He was 99 years old.
Miller was an accomplished oboe player and recording artist when he came up with the idea for his "sing-along" records. The Sing Along with Mitch albums debuted in 1958 and became an immediate success. Featuring old standards that were sung by two dozen male voices, the albums included song lyrics and invited listeners to sing along to the old standards.
The concept was soon adapted to television, with song lyrics appearing at the bottom of the screen with a bouncing ball to help audiences follow. Sing Along with Mitch began as a TV special and was successful enough to return as a biweekly and then weekly TV series. First-run episodes were produced until 1964. Reruns were played during...

Mitch Miller immortalized in a painting by Norman Rockwell
By Lee Pfeiffer
Mitch Miller, who became a pop culture icon in the 1960s, has died at age 99. Miller was a record producer whose 1960s weekly TV show Sing Along With Mitch made him instantly recognizable throughout the world. The thin man with the Don Quixote look would conduct in a virtually immobile style as his all-male choir sang popular standards. A key novelty of the show was a bouncing ball that allowed audience members to sing along. The concept actually began with a series of records that included lyrics sheets. When transformed to TV, the show proved to be a hit, despite the fact that Miller was on the air when rock 'n roll was booming. Miller had some career mishaps including a notorious flop novelty record he produced for Frank Sinatra, one of the few embarrassments of the great singer's career.

Mitch Miller, the musical maven of middle-of-the-road pop who died in Manhattan Saturday at 99, became a household name via his early-'60s TV show Sing Along With Mitch. Long before that, he -- along with Frank Sinatra and a guy named Al Cernick -- provided my dad, songwriter Carl Sigman, with the flukiest hit of his career. in 1950, Carl and composer/orchestra leader Percy Faith -- perhaps most famous for his1960 recording of Theme From a Summer Place -- were good friends and often went to the racetrack ("the trotters") at Long Island's Roosevelt Field to blow off some steam. An old French tune that played repeatedly on the track's Pa haunted Percy. One day, he jokingly asked Carl if he thought they could write a hit song in 10 minutes using that melodic phrase. They did just that, and...
