Marc Miller has enjoyed winning numerous awards for his work as
cinematographer and editor during his extensive career. After attending
Columbia College in Chicago during the early 70's he held staff
positions in Chicago and New York. Returning from New York in 1975,
Marc had free-lanced in Chicago until 2004. Now, after 8 years living
and working in Los Angeles, Marc is back in the greater Chicago area
eager to collaborate with a diverse range of clients. Marc's
philosophical approach to filmmaking is captured in this statement by
Russian filmmaker VI Pudovkin: "To show something as everyone sees it
is to have accomplished nothing." He strives to capture images and
construct stories that take the viewer where he cannot go. Herein lies
the power of the art of the cinema. Throughout the years his work has
been varied in project scope and subject matter. Clients have included
major corporations and entertainment companies such as: Our House
Productions (CBS Big Brother), Spike TV, The Second City, Fox Reality,
Lifetime, History Channel, Discovery, The Academy of Television Arts
and Sciences, Sea Launch, Glock, Victory Motorcycles, Tru-Spec Apparel,
Inside Edition, Sony/Columbia Pictures, American Playhouse, Warner
Brothers, Motorola, Kraft, Baxter, Abbott, Amgen, Eli Lily, Quaker
Oats, Allstate, Miller Brewing, Harley-Davidson, Firestone-Bridgestone,
Blue Cross/Blue Shield, AT&T, SC Johnson, DeVry University, Safety
Kleen, Kimberly-Clark, Joseph T. Ryerson, John Deere, Sears, and many
more. Though based in the United States, Marc's work has taken him to
most every state in the union as well as overseas to Antigua, Belgium,
Brazil, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Fiji, France, Germany, Ghana,
Greece, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Kuwait, Malaysia, Montserrat,
Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tarawa, Togo, Tobago,
Venezuela and The United Kingdom. Some recent projects include: music
video for The Shock Tarts entitled "Hollywood's Dead", theatrical
documentary entitled "Brothers At War", TV commercials, "Women Rock:
The Melissa Etheridge Story" segment second unit cameraman, and 4
seasons of CBS's Big Brother, feature film "African Gothic", an
upcoming documentary "The Lost Graves of Tarawa" and more. Heading
further into the millennium Marc is focusing on projects that will
afford more story telling opportunities through motion picture medium.
He is working as Cinematographer/Camera Operator/Editor multiple modern
formats. Member of Local 600 International Cinematographers Guild, SOC
and Digital Cinema Society.
