Phoenix transplant, writer/producer. Jean was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Pullman area, near the Al Capone mansion. He attended Morgan Park HS, where he was an athletic standout, and got his start on his stage as a lead singer in the chorus. He took his talents to Phoenix in 2007 to focus on his career. In 2013 he participated in the Marcus Graham Project, a private multicultural advertising cohort in Dallas. Here is where he found himself surrounded by creatives, which inspired him to begin writing. After a short stint in NY, he returned to PHX, but not before receiving the Bill Sharp Award for advertising, and being recognized as an AdColor future in 2014. He received his MFA in creative writing in 2018 and began working on his unreleased feature television script. In early 2022, his script awarded him the Black Boy Writes/Black Girl Writes Fellowship. His first film as an Executive Producer, "The Unhitch King", was released in late 2022. He resides in Phoenix with his wife and three children.
