Plenty of groups give out awards for excellence in film and television at the end of every year, but no set of nominations is watched more carefully by Oscar predictors than the picks from the Producers Guild. That’s because year after year their choices end up being a fairly good indicator of which films will also be granted Best Picture nominations when the Academy makes their selections.
The Guild has announced their 2014 nominations today and there aren’t really any major surprises here. All the expected films are present, including 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Her and The Wolf Of Wall Street. Animated films that nabbed nominations are The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Epic, Frozen and Monsters University. Included in the documentary nominations are A Place at the Table, Far Out Isn’t Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story, Life According to Sam, We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks...

The Producers Guild of America has accurately forecast the last six Best Picture Oscar winners, so it was good news for 10 films that were nominated today for the PGA’s Darryl F. Zanuck Award. While Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, and American Hustle were among the films that made the cut, Inside Llewyn Davis, The Butler, and Fruitvale Station did not. Last year, eight of the 10 movies that received nods from the PGA went on to earn Oscar nominations for Best Picture.

No formal green light yet, but the show, from executive producers Lawrence Bender, Kevin Brown and John Melfi and creator/exec producer Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad), has been actively casting, locking in four accomplished dancers for supporting roles. Additionally, Ethan Stiefel, star of the movies Center Stage and Center Stage: Turn It Up, has joined the project as consultant and choreographer. He is the artistic director of the Royal New Zealand Ballet and was a principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre from 1997-2012. Nurse Jackie, starring Edie Falco (The Sopranos) as the complicated, sweet-and-sour title character, has been a surprise hit for Showtime. With its strong female characters and gay-inclusive storylines — one of the lead characters, Mo-Mo (Haaz Slieman), is gay and the show recently featured a lesbian couple played by Swoosie Kurtz and Blythe Danner — the drama has become a favorite with Lgbt viewers as well.
A big part of Nurse Jackie’s progressive recipe for success are its co-creators and co-show runners, Linda Wallem and Liz Brixius — who also just happen to be out lesbians.

Rumor has it, Victoria Adams is interested in making a cameo appearance on "Sex and the City 2" as it is suggested that she has started taking acting lessons. Said hoping to star alongside leading lady Sarah Jessica Parker, the wife of David Beckham reportedly has been approached to portray a fashionable woman.
Victoria allegedly is determined to land a cameo in this sequel because she once had turned down a walk-on role for "Sex and the City" due to her commitment for the Spice Girls' reunion tour in 2007. "She really wanted to be in the last movie but wasn't able to take part because of her commitments with the Spice Girls," a source told Britain's Mail on its Sunday edition, before adding "This time she's keen to take part."
