- Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992.
- Played right wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs (1973-1980), Colorado Rockies (1979-1981) and Calgary Flames (1981-1989).
- Played for the Calgary Centennials and the Medicine Hat (Alberta) Tigers of the Western Canada Hockey League (Now Western Hockey League) from 1970-1973 .
- Shortly after winning the Stanley Cup with the Calgary Fames in 1989, he announced his retirement as a player.
- Wore #8 when he played for the Medicine Hat Tigers. The team retired his number on January 12, 1991.
- Inducted into the International Mustache Hall of Fame in 2015 (inaugural class) in the category Sports.
