With a love of cinema woven into its DNA, The Monster Squad helped indoctrinate ’80s kids to the classic monsters. The generation that grew up watching it on home video and HBO look back on the 1987 film with the same reverence director Fred Dekker had for the Universal monster movies, and now they’re passing it down in a similar fashion. There’s no better way to introduce the next generation than with the new 4K edition.
Conceived as “The Little Rascals meets the Universal Monsters,” the cleverly-plotted film clocks in at a tight 82 minutes. The punchy script by Dekker and Shane Black doesn’t have an ounce of fat on it, save for the casual homophobia, misogyny, and body shaming of the time. Drawing inspiration from Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, human characters offer well-placed levity and a bevy of memorable one-liners, but the monsters are played straight.

Sometimes it seems like Stephen King has done literally everything a person could do. As of this publication he has written over 70 books and over 200 short stories. He directed a movie where the Green Goblin was a killer truck possessed by a comet. He wrote an episode of "The X-Files." He did a cameo on "The Simpsons." Twice. He even did an "X-Men" comic book once.
So it probably comes as no surprise that Stephen King's work has been adapted into an episode of "The Twilight Zone." Indeed, the only things that are surprising about it is that it only happened once, and that hardly anyone has heard of it nowadays. But it's real. It's based on Stephen King's short story "Gramma," it was adapted by sci-fi luminary Harlan Ellison, it co-stars Piper Laurie from "Carrie," and it's part of the H.P. Lovecraft Cthulhu mythos.

When Sam Raimi directed the original Darkman back in 1990, it was an impressive feat, especially for the time: he created a big-screen superhero out of whole cloth—part comic book, part Universal monster, part Gaston Leroux, part ’80s action movie. It’s the kind of movie that should have launched a host of sequels—or, even better, a weekly series—but because of Sam Raimi’s own difficulties in making the film and because of the box office climate of the time, it didn’t happen. Not right away, at least.
Unwilling to let a potentially lucrative property disappear, Universal did put a pair of direct-to-video sequels into production in 1995. Though Raimi did not return to direct, he did remain on board as an executive producer, with directing duties on both movies turned over to Bradford May. Sundance is overcrowding Main Street already early Friday, and it didn’t take long for the deal-making to begin. Survivor Review, Season 27, Episode 3
“Opening Pandora’s Box”
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
Last season, the Survivor producers made the inexplicable decision to cast Brandon Hantz for a second time. He was clearly unstable during his first appearance, and it was only a matter of time before he exploded. The choice to bring back Colton is different because he controlled the game on One World before exiting. Even so, there are definite similarities. Colton is a nasty player who thrives on making others miserable. That strategy may work with newbies, but he’s found no traction with the returnees. Luckily for him, they’ve been rolling through the immunity challenges. He might coast for a while and find a way to reach the merge. Instead, Colton’s frustration leads to the lamest quit in the show’s history. Players do everything to play and avoid the vote, and...

Perhaps nobody knows the innerworkings of The Bachelor better than Chris Harrison. Sure the producers knowthe nuts and bolts of how to put the show together, but it is the affable hostwho crouches beside the lovelorn in the trenches, rooting for them to findlove. In a recent conference call interview, we spoke with Chris aboutBachelorette emotions, over the top dates and the modern day soap opera.
Harrison related that it’s thepurity of the concept that allows the show to consistently deliver high drama. He acknowledged, “You have to give that credit to Mike Fleiss, the creator ofthe show and Martin Hilton, the executive producer now for creating whatthey’ve created. And that is, [that] this obviously is this environment and itsformat that works. Every year, season in and season out, it just works. And Ithink the fact that it's not a game show. There is...

Angelina Jolie premiered The Tourist in NYC last night, but before she and Brad brought their twins to the city, she graciously promoted the movie overseas. Angelina gave an in-depth interview about her family life, Brad's political aspirations, and her thoughts on plastic surgery. She says she and Brad will work together again "one day," but for now she's all about praising her costar Johnny Depp as well as their wonderful experience on location in Venice. The film hits theaters on Friday, and here are highlights from Angelina: Angelina on rumors about her relationship with Brad Pitt: "Really, all that stuff that goes on, it’s nothing to do with us. We ignore it because it’s nonsense. We can laugh about things that are said about us because we’re Ok." On rumors Brad may be running for president: "Well, that’s news to me. He’d green...

Angie responds to reports that she and Brad have presidential ambitions and opens up about what is keeping her from political office!
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have both become just as known for their humanitarian work as they have their acting these days, but do the two have any political ambitions? Angelina sat down with the Daily Mail and told the paper, “I’m not sure that I would be taken seriously and get stuff done.” But what about the rumors Brad may take office?
“Well, that’s news to me,” the actress responded. “He’d green up the White House pretty quickly. But I think he’s a little busy for that.”
As for her controversial past being a reason to avoid office, Angelina thinks it’s something that every politician could learn from. “I would rather have somebody who has experienced a lot of life-making...

Brad Does Not Deserve A Second Chance! He blew it the first time around, so what makes ABC think that he will find his “true love” this time?
Though it has yet to be officially confirmed, rumor has it that season 11 Bachelor Brad Womack is returning for a second round on the all new season 15. My take: this is a Bad, Bad idea!
While Brad may have originally stolen the hearts of every female patron to the show the first time he appeared on television, if he returns for a second go, fans (including myself) are going to have some major bones to pick with ABC.
For those of you who don’t remember, Brad was the good looking Bachelor from Texas who embarked on season 11 in the hopes of finding “true love.” But when it came down to giving the final rose to one of the...

hollywoodnews.com: David James Elliott took his wife, son and daughter to the jungles of Ecuador this spring on the invitation of Amazon Watch — and has come back a changed man.
“I’m going out there again, longer this time, because I want to become more
active with the cause of getting clean water into tribal areas. These giant
corporations go in with their mega-projects and toss their crap into the water.
It’s terrible, shameful. With this going on, and what’s happening with the Bp
catastrophe in the Gulf — the day of reckoning seems to have arrived. It’s here. Do it now or we’re done. Hopefully, we’re not too late.”
He’s been talking to Trudie Styler, aka the wife of rock star Sting and

While Sherlock Holmes won't appear in theaters for another three months, Warner Bros. is counting on it to be a hit — so much so that the studio is already moving ahead with plans for a sequel. Word coming from The Hollywood Reporter says they've already hired writers Kieran and Michele Mulroney, and get this: "Brad Pitt has had discussions with producers to star as Holmes' nemesis Moriarty."
We figure this must be more than a rumor because, truth be told, this isn't the first report that Pitt has been connected to the movie. There is some evidence that Brad may actually have a small cameo in this first film to set up the next. It wouldn't surprise us, as that's the way they are doing it in Hollywood these days.
In any case, we hope this one is true because we are intrigued by the thought of a battle of...
