- André Mattoni was born on February 23, 1900 in Karlsbad, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary [now Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic]. He was an actor and assistant director, known for Ein Sommernachtstraum (1925), Land der Sehnsucht (1950) and Waltz Melodies (1938). He died on January 11, 1985 in Vienna, Austria.
- Was the original actor chosen to play Freder in Fritz Lang's Metropolis, working on the film for three or four weeks before deciding--for whatever reason--to leave the production for good.
- After the war he only appeared for the movie "Wiener Mädeln" (1949) in front of the camera.
- He was able to continue his career in the 30's but his roles became smaller and also the number of movies he took part reduced.
- He lived and worked in Rome from 1938 till 1942. End 1942 he moved back to Austria and lived in Vienna.
- The actor André Mattoni became established in the German silent movie era from the middle of the 20's.
