Veteran Teamsters official Leo Reed has been re-elected secretary-treasurer of the union's Hollywood Local 399, winning 81% of 1,961 ballots cast.
Set to begin an unprecedented eighth term leading the local, Reed defeated rival candidate Mitch Masoner by a vote of 1,551 to 374. Reed's slate of officers also were returned, including president Tony Cousimano, vp Randy Peterson, recording secretary Rose Falcon and trustees Ed Duffy, Jack Fisher and Jon Hopton.
"I would like to thank my executive board, my business agents and office staff for a job well done and especially the members for their continued support over the last 21 years," Reed said. "It has been an honor to lead my fellow Teamsters in pursuit of good contracts, quality medical benefits and a pension that rewards years of hard work. I look forward to a united effort with the members that addresses the tough challenges ahead."

The union blinked -- but for the right reasons.
In a surprising reversal, Teamsters members agreed Sunday morning to the "last, best and final" offer from studios, averting a strike by Hollywood transportation workers and others.
Teamsters head Leo Reed, in a standing-room-only membership meeting in Burbank, asked the members present to vote for the deal, conceding on a major wage point in exchange for relatively minor enhancements that were achieved in backchannel negotiations Saturday afternoon.
Upon Reed's recommendation, the union membership voted 97.3% in favor of the deal, about 840-20.
Talks between the union and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers, representing the studios and independent producers, ended Friday night with no movement and no new negotiating sessions scheduled.
"It's a good contract," Reed told THR. "I'm very happy."
Members at the meeting appeared happy as well, repeatedly applauding most deal points and thanking Reed and his team. Only one person,...

Talks between the studios and Hollywood Teamsters Local 399 ended late Friday night with no movement and no new negotiating sessions scheduled.
The union meets in Burbank early Sunday morning, where the leadership is expected to seek -- and obtain -- a strike authorization vote from members.
That authorization would, in turn, allow union leaders to call a strike at any time after the July 31 expiration of the contract between the union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, representing the studios and independent producers.
The talks between the AMPTP and the union -- which lasted 12 hours -- had begun Friday morning at the AMPTP's Sherman Oaks offices without much optimism.
As THR has reported, the parties are hung up on a single issue: will the Teamsters' annual raise be 2% or 3%? For a variety of reasons -- not all of which are simply economic -- the parties are dug in,...
