If there is one thing viewers can count on when they tune in to Elsbeth, it's that the show wastes no time getting to the meat of the story.
Sadly, there is no meet-cute in Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 4, despite the presence of a matchmaker.
First and foremost, audiences are treated to the uniquely hilarious presence of matchmaker Margo, played by comedian and actress Retta.
She brings her always perfectly timed comedic chops from Parks and Recreations and Good Girls right over to Elsbeth.
I will continue searching, but you've gotta understand finding a man who spends his free time protecting the coral reef, has good teeth, and flies private takes time.

The formulaic approach of Elsbeth to cast episodic murderers with well-known faces is becoming a staple of the show that I fully support.

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has officially announced its first permanent exhibit, one dedicated to the Jewish history of the film industry.
The museum presents “Hollywoodland: Jewish Founders and the Making of a Movie Capital,” which will be on view beginning May 19, 2024. Presented in English and Spanish, the exhibit tells the origin story of filmmaking in early 20th-century Los Angeles, spotlighting the impact of the predominately Jewish filmmakers whose establishment of the American film studio system transformed Los Angeles into a global epicenter of cinema.
“The American film industry began developing amid an influx of immigration to the United States by Jewish émigrés escaping European pogroms and poverty,” curator Dara Jaffe said in a press statement. “Most of Hollywood’s founders were among this wave of Jewish immigrants and recognized that the infant movie business presented an opportunity to raise their marginalized status in an industry that didn’t...

Was this Easter or Halloween?
Chicago Med Season 9 Episode 8 featured several strange or scary events, including one that could get Zola fired.
The stories were so strange that it felt like they had originally been intended for Halloween and had been reworked for Easter. Some of the twists were predictable, yet the entire episode was bizarre.
The most rational story was Pawel's usual nonsense. Pawel is almost always annoying, but his attempt to get pain meds or money felt more like the hospital show tropes we're used to than most of the other plots.
Pawel is always up to no good and has never gotten along with Daniel, so his latest scheme wasn't a surprise -- if anything, it was predictable.
What Exactly Was Pawel Up To?
His scheme was somewhat confusing, though. It seemed obvious that he was trying to score pain meds. He repeatedly asked for them...

It's great to have Chicago Med back, but Marcel's conflict with Washington was a lot of nothing.
On Chicago Med Season 9 Episode 7, Marcel accused Goodwin of siding with her boyfriend instead of with medical science. Then, everything changed for the patient, and the conflict evaporated.
Will this rear its ugly head some other time? It moved so quickly that it felt pointless despite some great performances.
Marcel and Washington's argument was a classic medical drama trope. TV hospitals are full of medical personnel who think surgery is too risky and surgeons who think the patient's prognosis will be poor if they don't go under the knife right away.
In this case, it was complicated by Sharon's relationship with Dr. Washington, which made Marcel believe she was not being objective in her decision about who to listen to.
Washington's plan initially made a lot of sense. If radiation could shrink the tumor,...

It’s natural that, while you may want to stay on the cutting edge of prestige TV drama and join in all those “How great is Shogun?!” conversations of the moment, there are also times when the world makes you want to shrink down to the size of a Subbuteo player, step into a book illustration from a copy of Thumbelina you owned as a child, and go to sleep underneath a single feather inside a walnut shell.
Those walnut shell moments demand a TV accompaniment that isn’t noisy or confrontational. There should be no difficult thoughts there, just a gentle tide of ‘everything’s okay-ness’ lapping at your brain’s shore. These British TV shows all provide exactly that sense of comfort. Please recommend your own picks below.

Let me give you my thoughts about love. I tend to side with famous Irish poet Oscar Wilde, when he says, “Never love anyone who treats you like you’re ordinary.” This is the basis for any successful relationship between lovers, most importantly during the honeymoon phase. Love sure makes us do crazy things for the people we care for most. But what is that limitation of crazy? And how far can it get before the significant others realizes this and wants to cut the cord for good? Sadly, cutting the cord may mean dire consequences for those that wish to end it. Let’s put that to the test and revisit two star-crossed lovers which is something out of any teenage girl’s dreams. But what if that dream soon warps into a twisted tale of horrific obsession, stalking, and manipulation? We’re talking about 1996’s Fear which is...

Artificial intelligence is doing incredible things these days. It's providing lucrative work for some lawyers, and getting other lawyers into big trouble. AI can generate an image of just about anything you can imagine ... though the results are sometimes disturbing on account of the AI not knowing how many teeth people should have in their mouth, or how many fingers they should have on their hand, or how humans eat food.
That's the subject of the Super Bowl spot for "Despicable Me 4," which reveals that all of these AI images are secretly the work of the Minions, Gru's army of little yellow henchmen, who are prized for their loyalty if not necessarily for their intelligence. The pull-out reveal of countless Minions sitting at banks of computers responding to the requests of bored and/or stoned people around the world brings to mind the infinite monkey theorem: that a...

It's been 14 years since Illumination entered the movie scene with "Despicable Me," and in that time, the film series has become the highest-grossing animated franchise ever. It has done so on the back of catchy tunes, memorable characters, a fun story of a villain accidentally (and reluctantly) finding redemption, and also the cultural phenomenon that is the Minions.
After the second movie in the franchise, we've also seen a new spin-off movie in between each new "Despicable Me" film that's centered on the Minions and their adventures before they met their best friend and overlord Gru. Now, after a seven-year absence, Gru is finally back -- and this time, he encounters an even greater challenge than when he tried to steal the moon. Now, he's a father.
That's right, following the monumental success of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," Illumination is taking the "Shrek" route with Gru and the Minions by giving Gru a family.

Reformed supervillain Felonius Gru (Steve Carell) has come a long way since "Despicable Me" released back in 2010 -- the billion-dollar box office hit that put brand new animation studio Illumination on the map. In the first film, Gru adopted three orphan girls as part of a plot to steal the Moon, intending to discard them when they were no long of any use to him. But Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier), and Agnes (Elsie Fisher) melted Gru's villainous heart and he ended up keeping them.
In "Despicable Me 2," Gru turned away from his former life of crime and began working as an agent for the Anti-Villain League. Gru's family grew a little bigger when Felonius married fellow Avl agent Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig) at the end of the sequel. Now, the trailer for "Despicable Me 4" has introduced Gru and Lucy's baby son, Gru Jr., who seems unimpressed by his infamous father.

Every now and then an esteemed actor from the posh theater world decides to make the move over to movies and television to slum it with us nerds. When Carrie Coon did so in 2014 with dual TV/movie roles in Gone Girl and The Leftovers, the unwashed entertainment masses all had the same reaction: “Now where have you been all our lives?!?”
After a successful career treading the boards on Broadway, Coon is now a pop culture mainstay and we couldn’t be happier about it. The Copley, Ohio-native absolutely shines in any role she takes, no matter how prominent or minor. From Nora Durst on The Leftovers to Gloria Burgle on Fargo season 3 and beyond, Coon quite simply goes hard in the paint.
Next up, Coon will be introduced to an even wider audience than ever before with the announcement that she’ll be headlining season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus.

This article contains spoilers for "For All Mankind" season 4.
Apple TV+ has quickly become the home of sci-fi on TV. Between "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" delivering kaiju action on the small screen, "Foundation" giving us an epic adaptation of Asimov's iconic book series, and "For All Mankind," it's an exciting time to look to the stars.
That last one, in particular, is doing something unique, presenting an uplifting and optimistic show of what humans can achieve when working together to explore outer space. "For All Mankind" began as an alt-history drama about a timeline where the Soviet Union got to the moon before NASA, causing a ripple effect with changes to the culture. Since then, it has become more and more of a proper science fiction show (one with as much love for science and technology as "Dr. Stone").
In its fourth season, "For All Mankind" is now set in...

Emmy and Golden Globe winner Julia Garner has set her next role, signing on to star in Leigh Whannell’s “Wolf Man.”
The movie reunites Garner — playing a mother whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator — with Christopher Abbott, with whom she starred in 2011’s “Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene,” her first professional acting role.
Since then, Garner has gone on to become a major player in both film and television, winning three Emmy awards for her standout performance as Ruth Langmore in “Ozark,” and garnering multiple nominations for her portrayal of real-life con artist Anna Delvey in Shonda Rhimes’ limited series “Inventing Anna.”
In film, Garner earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her impressive lead turn in Kitty Green’s “The Assistant.” Last year, the pair teamed up again for another critically acclaimed feature, “The Royal Hotel,” which Garner also produced through her Alma Margo production banner.
