Some audiences search out the most disgusting and depraved films that they can find. Movies have the ability to leave their mark on a psychological level or a more visceral one that seeks to leave you feeling queasy and dirty. Here’s a look at 10 movies that are sure to scar you for life.
10. ‘Grotesque’ (2009) L-r: Hiroaki Kawatsure as Kazuo Kojima and Shigeo Ôsako as The Doctor | Media Blasters
A mysterious man identified only as “the doctor” kidnaps a young couple (Hiroaki Kawatsure and Kotoha Hiroyama) and begins to perform extreme torture on them. He puts them through a game for survival designed to slowly destroy their hopes of making it out with their lives.
Kôji Shiraishi’s Grotesque falls into the “torture porn” sub-genre that James Wan’s Saw and Eli Roth’s Hostel popularized in the 2000s. However, this Japanese exploitation horror flick pushes all boundaries, introducing...

Happily ever after isn’t a concept often found in horror, which makes for a perfect antidote to the saccharine sentimentality of Valentine’s Day. Since love is in the air this week, this week’s streaming picks highlight the downside to romance: the brutal heartbreaks.
Because it’s horror, it’s never as straightforward as a breakup. Psychosis, body horror transformations, and death are some of the causes behind this week’s doomed romance titles.
Here’s where you can stream them this week.

The Fly – HBO Max
The Fly remains one of horror’s most tragic love stories. The initial sparks between journalist Veronica and quirky scientist Seth give way to a full-blown relationship. But Seth harbors some insecurity toward Veronica’s relationship with her editor Stathis Borans, a former lover who still has feelings for her. That insecurity...

After the Arrow Film release of Nekromantik it was only a matter of time before Nekromantik 2 made its way onto Blu-ray. Another banned movie featuring people with an infatuation with the dead, this one takes things a little more extreme, if that was even possible.
When Monika (Monika M.) meets Mark (Mark Reeder) they soon become lovers, but this causes problems for the nurse. While Mark is handsome and trustworthy, the corpse is a better lover. How can she decide between the two?
Nekromantik 2 feels very much like the first film but with a bigger budget. This time though there is a satirical edge to the film which makes fun of the art film style with which it actually embraces at the same time.

What is it about foreign horror films that makes them more interesting than so many English language horror films? You would have to think that the language barrier makes it more terrifying; people screaming is already difficult, but speaking a language you don’t understand can only make it worse. So, why are the remakes typically so bad? On this portion of the list, we are treated to a few of the more upsetting films in the canon – one movie I wouldn’t wish for anyone to see, a few that blazed the trail for many more, and one that I would elevate above the horror genre into its own little super-genre.

Some films are created to convey a message. They aren’t made to be loved, and may not actually be that good but they still get a cult following because of what they represent to the audience they are aimed at. Nekromantik is a film that has a certain infamy about it, especially in the United Kingdom as it first made its way into cinemas during the age of the Video Nasty and was never officially released. Attempts to get it into the country could even get you a not so nice letter warning you that you’d been very naughty for even trying to obtain a copy. Now finally released uncut, which is quite a shocking pass by the BBFC, Arrow Video have released it on Blu-ray for all to see.
Nekromantik is the story of Rob Schamdtke (Daktari Lorenz) a cleaner who deals with the aftermath of grisly accidents.

Earlier this year, you may have heard about the notorious film Nekromantik hitting Blu-Ray via Cult Epics. We have just received word on the details of the release including artwork.
Press Release
This controversial horror film shocked the world in 1987, when it was banned in Germany, censored in Japan, and simultaneously became a huge underground hit in the Us (now long out of print).
Nekromantik tells the story of Rob (Daktari Lorenz), who works at a street-cleaning agency, visiting roadside accidents to clean up the scene. Incidentally, Rob collects the body parts and shares them with his girlfriend, Betty (Beatrice M.)
When Rob presents a complete corpse taken out of a swamp, their undying love reaches its peak, but soon after Betty gets a more liking towards the corpse and leaves Rob, which takes him to the sick end of his destruction.

Sometimes I think to myself, why can’t I watch a love story about having a threesome with a corpse in HD. Well, thanks to Cult Epic, on October 7th, I can do just that. Even if you aren’t familiar with the film Nekromantik, I’m willing to bet that if you actually “grew up at the video store” like most of you claim, you’ll have seen the VHS cover sitting on the shelf, and probably contemplated taking it home with you a dozen times. Personally, I couldn’t turn it down, so I have seen the film several times. Cult Epics are finally bringing Nekromantik to Blu-ray on October 7th, also releasing a new, 2-disc Special Edition DVD. Check out the press release below, and click here to pre-order a copy for yourself.
