They fall in with the Fremen, the nomadic natives of Arrakis, and Paul will grow to become their leader. Thanks to some manipulation from Jessica, Paul will also come to be considered the Fremen Messiah. When they first fled, Jessica was pregnant. In her years with the Fremen, Jessica will give birth to a girl named Alia. She will grow to be a toddler with eerie powers, granted to her by the Water of Life, a semi-poisonous worm excretion that Jessica drank while pregnant.

This Dune article contains spoilers.
If the shocking ending of Dune: Part Two left you wanting more, you can actually watch Dune: Part Three right now. Kind of. Although Denis Villeneuve hasn’t fully committed to a movie adaptation of Dune Messiah, there is an often overlooked filmed version of this Dune sequel out there right now. This isn’t a bootleg or a fan film either, but The Sci-Fi Channel’s excellent Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune miniseries. This very real adaptation of Dune Messiah even stars several major Hollywood stars, including James McAvoy and Susan Sarandon, as well as Star Trek legend Alice “The Borg Queen” Krige.
If you’ve slept on this particular Dune sequel, now is possibly the best time to watch it. Here’s what to know about Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune, why it’s great, and how to watch it.

This article contains potential spoilers for Dune 2.
For longtime fans of Frank Herbert‘s most famous novels, the new Denis Villeneuve films are a kind of gift. As he made clear in 2021, Villeneuve is a Dune fan first, and a filmmaker second. “To me, reading Dune is like a paradise,” he said two years ago just before the launch of Dune: Part One. “The book stayed with me all these years.” Now, with Dune: Part Two just around the corner, we’ve been given a tantalizing new trailer for the film, one that showcases just how much of Herbert’s original work Villeneuve has managed to get into the second part of his sci-fi epic.
But if it’s been a while since you’ve read the original novel, it might feel like this trailer is almost giving too much away.

When producer Robert Lantos began developing the big-budget historical drama series “Rise of the Raven,” adapting Hungarian author Bán Mór’s series of bestselling novels presented obvious challenges. “It’s an 11-volume novel, each volume being 500-600 pages long,” says Lantos. It took several writers and the better part of a decade to find a way forward, something the producer describes as “finding a creative solution to a jigsaw puzzle.”
With a budget that Lantos describes as “competitive with English-language productions of that scope and that size,” financing the series was the second challenge, with the producer determined to secure the majority of the show’s financing from the host country. “It’s ambitious. It’s certainly by far the biggest thing done in that part of the world, not just in Hungary,” he says. The last puzzle piece finally fell into place when Hungary’s National Film Institute (Nfi...

Only those so eager for a happy romantic ending they're willing to overlook the tedium leading there will warm to "Venus & Mars," a wannabe "Cinderella" for grown-ups.
This tale of twentysomethings manages to feel false every step of the way, beginning with its setting, a village in Germany apparently populated by Americans and Brits with varying degrees of German accents. None of the actors transcends the material. As an intended vehicle for Daniela Amavia ("Children of Dune"), who also exec produces, this U.S.-German co-production scores no points.
The film's title refers to the predictions of Tarot-reading Emily (Lynn Redgrave, surrendering to the forced quirkiness of her "kook" character), who sees love in the stars for daughter Kay (Amavia) when she returns home from her unfulfilling life in Frankfurt. The occasion for Kay's visit is the death of her high school soccer coach, which also brings back pal Lisa (Julie Bowen) from San Francisco. But there's no sense of what the departed Frank meant to either of them or why they'd make the trip; his passing is a transparent dramatic excuse for the reunion of four friends. Rounding out the quartet are Celeste (Fay Masterson) and Marie (Julia Sawalha of "Absolutely Fabulous", utterly wasted here), both married and still living in the area.
Although the characters endlessly explain themselves in flat, on-the-nose dialogue, relationships remain unclear far too long. Ben Taylor's script offers wan stereotypes, the four friends supposedly representing the range of women, from the adamantly single to the perpetually pregnant, each as complex as a cardboard cut-out -- though there is an unconvincing attempt to provide Kay with a back story.
Director Harry Mastrogeorge moves the uninspired action along at a decent pace. But with such tired observations as "Did you know men have sexual thoughts every 20 seconds?" passing for edgy repartee, the proceedings can't help but drag.
The supposed chemistry between Kay and a hitchhiking American (Michael Weatherly) never comes alive as the story gets where it's obviously going, devoid of tension but boasting its fair share of clumsy humor, not to mention the unintended laughs at such moments as an attempted rape.
