Rise of the Planet of the Apes will be an origin story set in modern time that shows how the apes came to be, and how they began their rise to power. It’s directed by Rupert Wyatt and stars James Franco (127 Hours), Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings), James Lithgow (Dexter, Third Rock From the Sun) and Tom Felton (Harry Potter). I’m a sucker for Science Run Amok movies, so this origin tale has gone from a movie I’d rather skip — I’m still having horrible Ape-braham Lincoln flashbacks from the insipid Planet of the Apes rehash — to one that could be a piece of summer blockbuster heaven.
