A scene from Helen”S Dead. Courtesy of Screen Media
If you’re in the mood for a gory little dark comedy, Helen’S Dead might allay your craving. The tale plays out in one arduous night (apart from a few flashbacks) at a small, rather fancy dinner party. The host (Brian Huskey) is an uptight foodie; his wife (Annabelle Dexter-Jones) is an even more uptight “influencer.” Guests include her sister, Helen (Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz), their cousin Addie (Dylan Gelula), a jerk (Emile Hirsch) who’d been involved with both, a writer (Beth Dover) and a couple of unexpected visitors. The film opens with one of them announcing she’s just found Helen dead in another room, then brings us up to and beyond that point, with further casualties, motives and suspects in play.
Unlike most flicks in which the members of a small isolated group of victims-in-waiting are bumped off one-by-one,...

We’re just eleven days away from the actual day of Halloween – but distribution company Buffalo8 is looking to extend the Halloween season by a few weeks this year, as they’ve revealed they’ll be bringing the zombie horror comedy As We Know It to theatres across the United States throughout the month of November. A trailer for the film can be seen in the embed above.
Josh Monkarsh directed As We Know It and wrote the screenplay with Brandon DePaolo and Christopher Francis. Here’s the short synopsis: When a zombie outbreak occurs, a group of friends must try to reconcile their relationships and enjoy what little time they have left… before the end of the world.
Here’s some more information: Set in Los Angeles in the late 1990s, struggling writer James Bishop grapples with the emotional shrapnel of a recent breakup with his longtime girlfriend, Emily.

"All ya'll are suspects!!" Screen Media has unveiled an official trailer for Helen's Dead, a strange murder mystery whodunit comedy directed by the producer K. Asher Levin. This looks like something everyone will avoid before even looking at the footage. Red Box trash. Helen's Dead follows the story of Addie, played by Dylan Gelula. After a terrible breakup with her boyfriend, Addie goes to confront her friend about cheating allegations and accidentally steps into a murder scene. For some random reason, now it's up to Addie to find Helen's killer before it's too late. Too late for what? They'll kill again? Get away with it? Who knows. It also stars Emile Hirsch, Tyrese Gibson, Dylan Gelula, Oliver Cooper, Matilda Lutz (as dead Helen), & Annabelle Dexter-Jones. Reminds me of the series "The Afterparty", but with junk characters and no actual humor. // Continue Reading ›...

From Zeph in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Frank Castle in The Punisher to David Drayton in The Mist (based on the Stephen King novella of the same name) and Baxley in The Predator, Thomas Jane is no stranger to bringing compelling characters to life on screen in multiple genres. His role in the recent horror comedy Slayers is certainly no exception, as he plays Elliot Jones, a modern vampire hunter who lives in an Rv, researches bloodsucker conspiracy theories, and eventually teams up with video game influencer Flynn (Kara Hayward) to help take down a nefarious vampire empire.
With Slayers now on Digital and On Demand, we recently caught up with Thomas Jane to discuss acting in and executive producing the new vampire movie, and he also reflected on filming his memorable fight scene with Kevin Nash in The Punisher and being a part of the gut-punch ending of The Mist.

Photo: ‘Slayers’ For anyone needing to lower their blood pressure from their horror movie binge this spooky season, ‘Slayers’ is the unserious horror-comedy that'll provide you some respite. Directed by K. Asher Levin, who has producer credits on ‘Cougars Inc.’ and ‘Dig’, ‘Slayers’ entertains with its exaggerated interpretation of how the media-obsessed today would handle a spontaneous battle for their lives against a vampire syndicate. Although the film’s humor strikes as a long-running “dad-joke” attempting a little too hard to blend with gen-z culture, the film offers some amusing beats and a talented cast that were notably having fun with their roles. My suggestion in digesting this film would be to grab some friends, maybe some drinks, and go into this expecting a witty slasher. I was lucky enough to chat with both Thomas Jane and Malin Akerman about their upcoming Vampire comedy, Slayers. In this day and age, vampire stories have been told time and time again and rarely do they have any kind of originality. Thankfully, Slayers has a new take on them that makes the rules around them much more interesting. Then there’s Thomas Jane’s Elliot Jones character who may just be my favorite vampire hunter of the last decade and we’ve got the recipe for a fun time at the movies. So join me for my fun conversation with the two actors where we dive into the film.

The recent release of television shows like Let the Right One In and Interview with the Vampire, as well as movies like Day Shift and The Invitation, prove that stories about vampires will always be in style. Our obsession with social media like Instagram and TikTok has made it possible for almost anyone with a camera and a platform to become a celebrity, so Influencer culture is also very much in style right now. When you take a group of influencers and force them to battle a vampire syndicate, you have the recipe for a modern horror comedy.
Written by Zack Imbrogno (The Shadow Diaries) and K. Asher Levin, and directed by Levin, Slayers tells the story of a self-proclaimed vampire hunter named Elliot Jones, played by Thomas Jane, who teams up with a clueless, spoiled group of YouTube celebrities who are being targeted by what Elliot describes as the vampire illuminati.

Plot: A vampire slayer targets billionaire bloodsuckers who have lured a group of social media influencers to their remote compound.
Review: Just one month after the theatrical and VOD release of the thriller Dig, which was directed by K. Asher Levin and starred Thomas Jane, we’re getting the theatrical and VOD release of another Levin / Jane collaboration… and this one is quite different from their previous one. The new(er) movie is a horror comedy called Slayers, which finds Jane taking on the role of experienced vampire slayer Elliot Jones. The narration from Jones informs us that vampires have existed since the dawn of time – and humans have been secretly warring against them for thousands of centuries. While Jones has been in the slayer game for a couple decades at this point, he’s just one of the latest slayers in a long line of them, including some major historical figures.

Plot: A homicidal couple holds a home salvager and his deaf teenage daughter hostage, forcing them to dig up something they buried beneath a patio.
Review: Thomas Jane once played the Marvel Comics character The Punisher, but in the opening scenes of director K. Asher Levin’s thriller Dig his character Scott Brennan is more reminiscent of Thor, making a spectacle of himself by threatening people with a hammer. He first wields the hammer when he wades into a party to retrieve his teenage daughter Jane. Then when he sees that someone who cut him off on the road is at the next pump over at a gas station, he grabs his hammer again. This is when Brennan learns the folly of bringing a hammer to a gunfight, as his tough guy act at the gas station results in his wife being shot dead and his daughter being deafened by the sound of the shot.

Exclusive: Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix franchise), Isabelle Fuhrman (The Novice) and Liana Liberato (To the Bone) have signed on to star in Justine Bateman’s upcoming feature Face, based on her 2021 bestseller, Face: One Square Foot of Skin.
The film penned by Bateman consists of 14 vignettes, both comedic and dramatic, which look at women’s faces getting older, and why that makes people angry. While much of society appears to assume that women’s faces are somehow broken and need to be fixed, Face reveals some of the many ways in which women, and those around them, allow this idea to take root at all.
Parker will play Tanya, an actress balancing her need to use her face for her job and the pressure to not move it at all, with Moss as Mrs. Foster, a kindergarten teacher whose young students remind her of the magical functionality of the face.

"Now that everybody's wide awake, we dig!" Saban Films has unveiled the trailer for an indie thriller titled Dig, from filmmaker K. Asher Levin who usually works as a producer in TV. Not to be confused with the other Netflix film called The Dig, this is a whole different story. A widowed father and his daughter whose house is up for demolition, are taken hostage by a dangerous couple, who won't stop until they retrieve what lies beneath the property. The father and daughter must work together to outsmart their captors and escape. Starring Thomas Jane, Emile Hirsch, Liana Liberato, Harlow Jane, and Makana David. The film "promises to be heart-stopping and action-packed, and is sure to showcase some great fight sequences from the" small cast. Doesn't look that bad, surprisingly, but it doesn't look that good either. Take a look below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for K.
