Gus Lesnevich was born on February 22, 1915 in Cliffside, New Jersey, USA. He was an actor, known for Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962) and We, the People (1948). He died on February 28, 1964 in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, USA.

Upon his death, he became the youngest (i.e. most recent born) light heavyweight champion to die, succeeding Bob Olin. In 1965 that status passed to Freddie Mills.
