Here's your daily dose of an indie film, web series, TV pilot, what-have-you in progress -- at the end of the week, you'll have the chance to vote for your favorite. In the meantime: Is this a project you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments. American Monster Logline: A non-fiction crime thriller, told through the eyes of those closest to a bizarre and brutal crime, "American Monster" strives to flip the script on the American culture of violence in by re-examining it as a community problem. Elevator Pitch: John Lawson grew up poor and abused in the affluent suburb of Clemmons, Nc. Rejected at home, at school and by his hometown at large, he earned his community’s respect the only way he knew how: Fear. In direct response to the fears of his community, Lawson became the boogeyman of Clemmons, taking on the persona of "Pazuzu Algarad,...

As the black door affixed with the image of a human skull and the words "Evil Will Triumph" opens, a world of filth, graffiti-covered walls and animal remains is revealed inside the home of two people accused in a pair of North Carolina murders with suspected Satanic overtones. "I don't believe any of my hoarding cases will match with this one," says code officer Ken Nelson of the Forsyth County Housing and Community Development Department from behind the camera. He's speaking in a 9½-minute video of the property shared with People by the department. (Warning: Video contains disturbing imagery.) This...

If you thought Maniac's Frank Zito was the only one who spends the majority of his time with mannequins, think again...
As we spotted on Oddity Central, artist Suzanne Heintz has spent the last 14 years of her life coming home to a mannequin husband and daughter, and the explanation for the incredibly strange lifestyle is not the chemical imbalance you might be expecting. No, Suzanne isn't crazy, she's just an artist who's expressing herself in a most unique fashion, out to confront societal pressures on women and prove that personal happiness comes from the inside, not from others.
Okay, so the whole thing is totally creepy, but hear her out, before jumping to conclusions.
Heintz says that the inspiration for the strange 'project' came from repeated questions about when she was going to get married and have kids, nagging inquiries that I'm sure every female reading this right now has been asked,...

There is a house in upstate New York known as the John Lawson House. This house's only inhabitants seem to be mannequins.
The John Lawson House (I have not been able to figure out who John Lawson is) was built in 1845. In 1871, a train crashed less than 200 feet away. All 22 passengers were killed. In 1877, a fire swept through the streets and the John Lawson House was one of the few structures to survive.
Mannequins are always seen on the front porch, having tea, but no human residents have ever been seen. Some locals think the mannequins are trying to convey a message - maybe mourn the train crash victims - but no one really knows. The mannequins might face the crash site, or may be looking towards the only other historical (and long-since abandoned) house on the street. Each day, the number of mannequins, their position, and their attire changes.

A circus has begun offering a course for people who suffer from a phobia of clowns. John Carpenter, who performs with the John Lawson Circus as Popol the Clown, is offering the sessions later this month after noticing that more and more people have developed coulrophobia, a fear of clowns. "We want to say to people, 'Give us a change'," Carpenter told BBC News. "We're not all crazed psycho killers. "We had more and more people saying to us, 'Keep away, we're scared', so we decided to do something positive about it. We try to get people to confront their fears." Carpenter claims (more)...
