Peacock has revealed the Season 3 cast of “The Traitors.”
Set in a remote castle in the Scottish Highlands, Alan Cumming “plays host to 21 larger-than-life personalities who come together to compete in a series of missions with the objective of earning a cash prize of up to $250,000. The catch? Hidden amongst the Faithful contestants are the Traitors, whose goal is to eliminate the Faithful and claim the prize for themselves. Under the cover of darkness, the Traitors ‘murder’ contestants one by one, but if the Faithful can banish all the Traitors before the end of the game, they’ll split the incredible prize,” the synopsis reads.
The Season 3 cast consists of reality TV personalities, top competitors and other notable figures, including actor, model and Britney Spears’ ex-husband Sam Asghari, controversial “Vanderpump Rules” star Tom Sandoval and “Selling Sunset’s” Chrishell Stause. Other notable competitors are Bob the Drag Queen from “RuPaul’s Drag Race”; Dorinda Medley,...

Prime Video continues to expand its game show output, announcing two more new shows on Tuesday at Amazon’s upfronts presentation: “Buy It Now,” hosted by Jb Smoove (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and the holiday-themed event “Wish List Games” hosted by Nick Cannon (“The Masked Singer”). Both feature tie ins to Amazon’s shopping portals.
“Buy It Now” and “Wish List Games” comes on top of “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” (also announced on Tuesday) and the upcoming “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” hosted by Travis Kelce. Prime Video also has “Beast Games,” “The Goat” (from Elon Gale and Lee Eisenberg) and “The 1% Club.”

Amazon is stacking up its unscripted orders.
The streaming service has ordered two new nonscripted series; it has ordered a U.S. version of British format Buy It Now hosted by Curb Your Enthusiasm star Jb Smoove and Nick Cannon is hosting holiday event Wish List Games.
Elsewhere, it has added names to Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, hosted by Travis Kelce.
This comes after the streamer ordered Pop Culture Jeopardy!, a spinoff of the iconic gameshow.
Amazon has largely struggled in the unscripted world and has had few breakouts so is evidently trying to bolster its slate.
Buy It Now comes from The Traitors producer Studio Lambert and is based on a Channel 4 daytime format that seasoned and budding entrepreneurs try to win a place in the Buy It Now store featured on both Amazon.com and within the Prime app.

If you were eagerly salivating over last week’s banishment showdown that never happened, you certainly were not alone.
In last Thursday’s episode of The Traitors (read a full recap here), a brewing Parvati vs. Peter battle was unfortunately put on hold when Alan announced a middle-of-the-night twist that banished what surely would’ve been a season’s-best roundtable. With a traitor (Parvati) and a faithful (Peter) at each other’s throats, the host brought the group out to the forest for a torch ceremony that not only cancelled the week’s banishment, but also narrowed down the traitors’ murder options for the night.

Squid Game released a successful reality spinoff titled Squid Game: The Challenge. The series’ creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, was very much aware of the reality show’s development. But how much did he support the series?
‘Squid Game’ creator Hwang Dong-hyuk on ‘The Challenge’ Squid Game | Roy Rochlin/Getty Images
Squid Game showrunner Hwang was very sympathetic toward critics of the reality show The Challenge. Fans felt one of the reasons for Squid Game’s success was its commentary on subjects such as classism and wealth disparity. The concern was that a lot of these themes would’ve been lost on The Challenge just based on its nature as reality television. But Hwang felt taking the entertainment aspect of Squid Game too seriously might’ve been a mistake.

Channel 4 entertainment format Rise and Fall has been canceled after one season following months of fevered industry speculation.
Rise and Fall aired just under a year ago across three weeks but couldn’t match the hype or ratings success of its BBC rival The Traitors, both of which are produced by Studio Lambert, which also makes Gogglebox for Channel 4.
According to The Sun, the show hosted by Radio 1’s Greg James has been scrapped, and a Channel 4 spokeswoman confirmed the news to Deadline.
In Rise and Fall, one group of contestants took part in challenges in the basement of a high-rise while another group at the top dictated events, with players frequently eliminated and some moving up and down the building as they chased a cash prize.
The show has become somewhat reflective of a difficult few months for Channel 4, which has been grappling with the ad recession.

Instead of a deadly knife fight, the two final contestants, Player 451 Phill Cain and Player 287 Mai Whelan, played the child’s game Rock, Paper, Scissors to determine the winner of the $4.56 million prize. Whelan, who bragged that the hand game was a personal favorite, was ultimately crowned.

A British solicitors is threatening to sue Netflix over alleged injuries sustained by contestants during filming of Squid Game: The Challenge.
Leaving aside the question of whether Squid Game: The Challenge entirely misses the darkly satirical point of the show on which it’s based, it sounds as though Netflix may one day come to regret commissioning the show in the first place.
A story at The Hollywood Reporter reveals that a British firm of solicitors – which specialises in injury claims – is on the cusp of filing a lawsuit against the streaming giant. Express Solicitors claims that several contestants on the game show have sustained injuries during filming, and that its producers “pushed the boundaries of safety in the name of entertainment.”
Those injuries are said to include “hypothermia and nerve damage” which, the lawyers say, arose as a “result of poor health and safety standards on set.”

Netflix isn’t gonna be thankful about this: A legal firm in the U.K. is threatening a lawsuit over injuries sustained by contestants while filming Squid Game: The Challenge.
The British personal injury firm Express Solicitors announced on Thanksgiving Day that it is representing contestants from the show who are seeking compensation for their experience on the reality competition based on the hit drama series.
“We have sent letters of claim on behalf of contestants injured in this show,” CEO Daniel Slade said in a statement. “From what we’ve been told, they pushed the boundaries of safety in the name of entertainment. Production companies need to ensure that health and safety standards on their shows don’t leave people at risk of harm.” The letters of claim are the initial step being taken, and the firm says they are gathering further evidence and will then file a lawsuit if necessary.

‘Squid Game: The Challenge’: Contestants Called Filming Conditions ‘Ridiculous’ and Like a ‘Warzone’
The real-life Squid Game might not be as deadly as its fictional counterpart, but filming wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience, according to some participants. Squid Game: The Challenge — Netflix’s reality show version of the mega-popular Korean scripted series – debuted on Nov. 22. The show features hundreds of participants competing for a $4.56 million prize, the largest in reality show history. While there are no grisly eliminations, some contestants say their experience on the show was far more intense than they expected.
‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ contestants described ‘inhumane’ filming conditions
In January 2023, 456 people converged on an airplane hangar north of London to film Squid Game: The Challenge. The contestants were participating in a version of the Squid Game’s Red Light, Green Light game. Filming took place during a cold snap, and at first, contestants were allowed to wear coats and had hand warmers. But eventually, they had to shed...

From the very moment Squid Game: The Challenge was announced, there’s been a recurring criticism of the show’s very existence. The reality competition is based on Netflix’s hit drama series and has 456 players competing in dystopian kids games for a record-breaking $4.56 million prize. The show is arguably the most cinematic reality series ever shot (trailer below), and hugely ambitious — it looks and plays just like the original drama series that captivated viewers around the globe in 2021. The competition’s 10 episodes drop on the streamer today.
As stated in The Hollywood Reporter’s recent review: “The original Squid Game, the competition stood as an extreme example of the dehumanization of capitalism … The Challenge builds on the most superficial aspects of Squid Game while ditching — or, really, undermining — the most profound.”
But in a new interview with THR, Studio Lambert executive producers Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt and John Hay respond to that claim.

“Squid Game: The Challenge” will premiere next week with a prize worth millions on the line. And no one can be trusted in this competition series that was inspired by the hit South Korean thriller “Squid Game.”
“Squid Game: The Challenge” was first ordered in June 2022, less than a year after the premiere of “Squid Game.” The 10-episode show is a co-production between Studio Lambert and The Garden, which is part of ITV Studios. Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt, and Toni Ireland from Studio Lambert and John Hay, Nicola Hill, and Nicola Brown from The Garden serve as executive producers.
The show is a spin-off reality competition inspired by the streamer’s successful title, “Squid Game.” That nine-episode Korean language series is centered on financially broken contestants who are invited to play children’s games for a cash prize — but not only are the stakes high, they’re deadly. The show debuted on Netflix Sept.

Studio Lambert has introduced the world to Gogglebox, Race Across the World and The Circle but the indie has faced its greatest test in Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge, and the road has been a bit of a bumpy one.
Stephen Lambert’s 15-year-old British production house, which its founder says is having its busiest year following a strategic shift to “go big” on premium unscripted, took on its grandest undertaking when Netflix gave it the weighty reins to the Squid Game competition series.
Alongside fellow UK indie The Garden, Studio Lambert has subsequently overseen a competition with 456 contestants – about 20 times that of the average reality show – with the largest prize fund in history.

The Traitors has been renewed for a third season by the BBC in the UK before the second has even aired.
Studio Lambert’s smash format hosted by Claudia Winkleman has already opened up casting for Season 3 and will likely air towards the backend of next year or early the following one. Season 2 will air soon, with scheduling coming in due course.
The BAFTA-winning guessing game format sees 22 strangers aim to win up to £120,000. Three ‘traitors’ are given the opportunity to ‘murder’ contestants, while remaining ‘faithfuls’ have to smoke them out, and the group compete in daily challenges to keep the prize fund steady.

You’d think that volunteering to go on a reality TV series based on a show about a deadly competition would mean you were prepared to at least fake die — but based on the new trailer for “Squid Game: The Challenge,” that thought didn’t occur to every contestant.
In the new promo for the unscripted show, which debuts Nov. 22 on Netflix and will roll out new episodes through Dec. 6, 456 people are competing for the $4.56 million prize being offered, just like it was in the first season of the streamer’s Korean-language hit “Squid Game.” Of course, in this game, people’s lives aren’t actually on the line — but they still get fake “shot” during a game of “Squid Game’s” most iconic activity, Red Light, Green Light, and go tumbling to their “death” off a bridge in a later challenge. And being fake-killed is still shocking, as the first one “hit” goes “Oh,...

What would you do for $4.56 million? The teaser trailer for Squad Game: The Challenge, the competition series based on the critically acclaimed, award-winning (and incredibly violent) Squad Game, asks that question. And for hundreds of people, the answer is apparently just about anything.
The competition begins on Netflix on November 22, 2023. The original Squid Game aired in September 2021 and has been renewed for season two. A date hasn’t been set for its debut.
“Squid Game took the world by storm with director Hwang’s captivating story and iconic imagery. We’re grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment,” stated Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Unscripted and Documentary Series, in June 2022 when the competition spinoff was announced. “Fans of the drama series are in for a fascinating and unpredictable journey as our 456 real-world contestants navigate the biggest competition series ever,...

“Squid Game: The Challenge” is ready for the green light.
The Netflix reality series, which pits 456 real players in competition over a $4.56 million reward, is based on the harrowing Emmy-winning fictional show created by Hwang Dong-hyuk. The series makes history as the largest cash prize for a reality competition.
Per the official “The Challenge” synopsis, as players compete through a series of games inspired by the original show — plus surprising new additions — their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.
Medics were called to the reality competition series set in January 2023 as contestants were filming in freezing weather conditions, playing a game of “Red Light, Green Light,” also known as “Statues,” in minus 3 degrees Celsius weather, roughly 26 degrees Fahrenheit. Only 288 contestants moved forward after the competition.
In February 2023, former contestants told Rolling Stone that they believed the series had unsafe working conditions and a rigged reward.
