Exclusive: Ahead of the Cannes market, Lionsgate has taken North American rights off the table on one of the bigger-budget new packages that’ll be on sale next week: that’s action-thriller Mutiny, which will star action evergreen Jason Statham (Fast & Furious) and be directed by Jean-François Richet (Plane).
Lionsgate, which we understand stumped up eight figures for Na rights, says it has committed to a wide theatrical release on the project which is based on a script by Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis (Plane). Principal photography is due to begin this September in the UK.
In Mutiny, after his billionaire industrialist boss is murdered in front of him, Cole Reed is set up to take the fall for the crime— leaving him on the run as he works to uncover an international conspiracy.
The film is produced by Statham and his newly minted production company Punch Palace Productions...

Exclusive: In a lucrative pact, Amazon MGM Studios has landed U.S. theatrical rights to Levon’s Trade, with Prime Video taking streaming rights in a slew of major international territories, we can reveal.
As we told you last year, the film helmed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad) will star Jason Statham (Fast & Furious franchise) and hail from producers Black Bear and BlockFilm. The screenplay was adapted by Sylvester Stallone (Creed), with revisions by Ayer, and is based on prolific comic author Chuck Dixon’s first novel in the “Levon” series.
Amazon MGM has signed a deal for a wide theatrical release in the U.S. Outside of the Prime Video international territories (where the film conceivably might go online only), Black Bear has sold Levon’s Trade independently to theatrical distributors in multiple overseas markets.

Jason Statham must have enjoyed working with David Ayer on “The Beekeeper.” He’s re-upping to headline Ayer’s next action film, “Levon’s Trade.”
Based on the novel by famed comics author (and the creator of Batman arch-foe Bane) Chuck Dixon, Sylvester Stallone will adapt the crime thriller. This marks a rare occasion whereby Stallone writes a film in which he doesn’t star. The 2013 Statham action drama “Homefront” remains an underrated gem of a genre flick.
Black Bear and BlockFilm will present the package at AFM, adapting the first of 11 best-selling novels featuring Levon Cade. Cade (Statham) is a reformed criminal currently on the straight and narrow and working construction. However, when his boss’s teenage daughter Jenny vanishes, he’s called upon to reemploy the skills that made him a legendary figure in the shadowy world of black ops. Exclusive: Christian Gudegast (Den of Thieves) has closed a deal to direct the thriller Crown Vic for MadRiver Pictures.
Crown Vic is described as a too-insane-to-be-true crime story set in the early 1980s San Fernando Valley — a world where L.A. cops, mythologized by TV shows from Dragnet to CHiPs, were rock stars who operated with unchecked power. Its protagonists are Richard Ford and Robert Von Villas, two Vietnam War heroes turned superstar LAPD cops, who parlayed their positions to get rich, while cozying up to Hollywood’s biggest TV stars. The duo went on to build an underground criminal operation as thieves, gun runners and murderers for hire, until their unwilling business partner risked everything to bring them down.

"The Governator" is reportedly the latest victim of Arnold Schwarzenegger's marital woe. Contrary to previous report that the former California governor's infidelity scandal would not affect the TV series, a rep for the project has just said that "Governator" is now on hold.
"In light of recent events, A Squared Entertainment, Pow, Stan Lee Comics, and Archie Comics, have chosen to not go forward with the Governator project," the rep told TMZ. It is not clear whether the project is completely dead or is just postponed until the buzz regarding Schwarzenegger's personal issues is over.
Just hours before, the "Terminator" star's lawyer Patrick Knapp announced that he delays his return to acting career. "At the request of Arnold Schwarzenegger, we asked Creative Artists Agency to inform all his motion picture projects currently underway or being negotiated to stop planning until further notice," he said in a statement.
