Hip-hop has transformed music, and the world at large, since it was conceived 50 years ago. In a relatively short time, it's made a massive impact on every aspect of pop culture - and fortunately, there are a lot of great documentaries that chronicle the unforgettable, twists, turns, and triumphs that made hip-hop what it is today.
Many of these documentaries offer fascinating insights into hip-hop's exponential growth, such as 1995's "The Show" and 2016's "Hip-Hop Evolution," which both examine exactly how the genre became a worldwide, multibillion-dollar industry. Some of them also focus on individual artists, like 2003's "Tupac: Resurrection," a documentary narrated entirely by Tupac Shakur himself. Others focus on specific music scenes, like Ava DuVernay's "This Is the Life," which centers Los Angeles's alternative rap scene in the 1990s, while others delve into the technical aspects of hip-hop and rap, like Ice-t's...

The Hairy Bikers have launched a new BBC Two campaign to help lonely elderly people.
Their new show Old School - inspired by their previous Meals on Wheels series - will see the duo linking up a local secondary school with pensioners who are feeling isolated.
The campaign, said to be based on Us and Japanese schemes, will see David Myers and Simon King bringing up to 30 retired people into a school.
The Hairy Bikers are hoping that not only will the school's pupils give the pensioners some comfort, but the retirees will help to teach the students.
"This series is about two generations who have more in common with each other than they might at the start think - both groups are undervalued and often ignored by the rest of society, neither considered truly responsible for themselves - joining forces to demonstrate what they can achieve together," BBC Two said.

Violence, torture, voyeurism, gang-rape, murder, nudity, and epic levels of misogyny…..it must be time for another Late Night Grindhouse!!!
At The Hi-Pointe Theater (1005 McCausland Ave, St. Louis) this Friday and Saturday nights (February 7th and 8th) at Midnight, the guys at Destroy the Brain are presenting a 35mm print of Centerfold Girls, a remarkably skanky gem from 1974. Andrew Prine, decked in saddle-shoes, a hideous leisure suit, and a shag haircut, stars in Centerfold Girls as Clement Dunne, a kooky puritanical nerd who sets out to murder a year’s worth of centerfold girls from a nudie mag. His motive is altruistic: He wants to save them from a life of posing naked, but his method, ‘saving’ them by slicing them to ribbons with a straight razor, won’t get him into heaven. The film itself is kind of an anthology, divided into three acts, each concerning one of the...

BBC presenter Simon King has captured a potential burglar on camera.
Springwatch star Simon King's camera recorded images of a man climbing over a fence and running across a garden.
Police now want to speak to the man in question in connection with a nearby burglary.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said that the footage was recorded at around 3.45am on January 12 at a home in Herne Hill, south London.
King recorded the footage using his 'fox camera', which streams live on his personal website.
The wildlife expert said: "I understand that a neighbour of our urban fox family residence was burgled and our cameras captured the possible suspect.
"Anyone can view our network of webcams live through our website and they will often see animals doing the strangest of things - but this is taking it one stage further.
"I hope the police are able to make use of...

Have you ever wanted to see Mary Ann from ‘Gilligans Island’ covered in blood and chased through a corn field by a serial killer who wears a potato-sack as a hood and commits murders with a knife strapped to the end of a trombone? If so track The Town That Dreaded Sundown, a fact-based blend of police procedural, slasher flick, and redneck comedy from 1977. In addition to having one of the great movie titles of the ‘70s, The Town That Dreaded Sundown is a realistic, chilling, and effective thriller that Shout Factory has released on Blu-ray just ahead of its 2014 remake.
‘The Phantom Killer’(aka ‘The Moonlight Murderer’) was a real life fiend who committed a series of murders in Texarkana, a border town between Texas and Arkansas, in 1946. Like the ‘Zodiac’ killer who terrorized San Francisco 25 years later, he was never caught or identified. Stalking couples parked at lovers...

British actress Joanna Lumley has added her support to TigerTime, the new global charity campaign to save the last 3,200 wild tigers on earth.
Joanna joins an amazing list of celebrities from all across the world of entertainment in both the UK and USA including Ricky Gervais, Roger Moore, Michael Parkinson, Melanie C, Anjelica Huston, Susan Sarandon, Gemma Atkinson, Vicki Roberts, Simon King, Naomie Harris, Neil Gaiman, Claire King, Abi Titmuss, Elizabeth Emanuel and Paula Abdul.
“Animals share the earth with us: that is to say, they are equal partners in the right to live on this planet,” says Joanna. “In our anxiety to make the world a better place for ourselves, let us be very careful that we don’t obliterate the needs of other species. If the tiger disappears from the wild because of our behaviour we humans shall have lost all claims to be called civilised and compassionate.

Drive Angry is an obnoxious, absurd male fantasy gone haywire. A car fetishizing, explosion laden, boob flauntin', violent funhouse-ride of a movie, that might take itself a little too seriously at times, but is ultimately a nifty throwback to that dark period of 70's exploitation flicks when satanic cults and biker gangs ruled the drive-ins. You know, like Vanishing Point meets Simon King of the Witches or something.
So basically, if you were one of those people disappointed by Tarantino's Death Proof and just wanted those chicks to 'stop yapping and kick some ass already' you'll finally find what you were hoping for and I would go so far as to say pairing this with Planet Terror would be a pretty fun night. However, I have a feeling, like with Roderiguez and Tarantino's Grindhouse exorcise,...
