Spandau Ballet have challenged Oasis to a drinking competition. The newly-reformed group have claimed that they are more "rock 'n' roll" than the Manchester band and could easily drink them under the table. "We can take on Oasis. They are nice boys, pussycats. We're real rock 'n' roll," drummer John Keeble told The Mirror. The group revealed that they have been successful on previous occasions when daring other bands to drinking contests. Spandau Ballet have revealed that they came up with plans for a full reunion as they lounged around in their underwear drinking wine. Drummer John Keeble admitted that he managed to convince Tony Hadley to agree to a comeback while the pair were touring as a duo. "Two years ago I was in a dressing room with Tony and as ever, the old Spandau Ballet question came up," he told Metro. "I looked him in the eyes as we sat there in our pants with a glass of wine, sweating profusely, and said, 'You (more)...

Spandau Ballet want to challenge Oasis to a drinking contest. The recently reformed band love partying on the road and believe they could easily beat Noel and Liam Gallagher - who are also famed for their wild behaviour - in any alcohol-fuelled challenge. Drummer John Keeble said: "We can take on Oasis. They are nice boys, pussycats. We're real rock 'n' roll." Bassist Martin Kemp added: "The longest stretch I've had is four days of no sleep, just being on the road partying. It goes with being in a great band and I've told my wife that. Let's be real, it'll be like we're 18 again." The 'Gold' hitmakers have also revealed they insist on travelling with tequila on...

Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley has revealed that the band have overcome their past differences and are better friends than ever. The singer claimed that the group dynamic is "really comfortable" and that they still act the same as in the early days. Spandau Ballet's children tried to get them back together. The quintet - Tony Hadley, John Keeble, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp and Steve Norman - confirmed Wednesday they are playing a reunion tour in October but revealed it would have happened much sooner if they had listened to their kids.
Speaking at a London press conference on anchored ship Hms Belfast - where they played a legendary show in 1980 - guitarist Gary Kemp revealed: "Mine and Tony's sons actually got together in the pub about two years ago and said to each other, 'How can we get our dads talking again, how can we get them together?'"
Gary was involved in a bitter court battle over royalty payments with Tony, John and Steve in 1999.
The "Gold" hitmakers have now put their differences behind them, but one member was concerned there would not be a place for him in the reunited line-up.

'80s pop band Spandau Ballet are reuniting for a comeback tour. The band - lead vocalist Tony Hadley, guitarist Gary Kemp, bassist Martin Kemp, saxophonist Steve Norman, and drummer John Keeble - have revealed their comeback plans to journalists on Wednesday.
Hadley told The Sunday People, "The boys are back in town and we can't wait. It's going to be brilliant, we're very excited. But it will be very different to how we used to be."
"Obviously there'll be all the hits, the nostalgia, but there will also be a new take on what Spandau Ballet are about."
The group ended in a bitter feud in the last decade. Hadley, Norman and Keeble sued Gary Kemp for a share of his song writing royalties. They had been unsuccessful.
