Luke Evans may not be a favorable children’s character in The Beauty and the Beast, but in real life, he’s supporting organizations to help make children’s wishes come true.
On Monday night, Evans attended the Art of Wishes Gala and sat with Family Fortunes host Vernon Kay in London. The gala is held each year to fundraise for Make-a-Wish UK and, according to their website, has raised £9 million since it started.
Evans, who has made a name for himself onscreen, will be performing on the stages of London’s Duke of York’s Theatre on October 27. He will be playing Billy in Marcelo Dos Santos‘ play Backstairs Billy. Alongside Evans, Downton Abbey’s Penelope Wilton will play the Queen Mother.

The radio DJ uttered his final words on BBC Radio 2 last month, after 31 years with the station. He starts his new show with Bauer on Monday (3 April), where he will present the 10am to 1pm show.
Speaking to Pa ahead of the new role, Bruce admitted he’s still trying to get used to his change in routine due to the new working hours; he previously hosted the 9:30am to 12pm show for Radio 2.
“I’m struggling to work my day out,” he said, adding: “I think I’m going to be going to bed an hour later because I just have to squeeze everything into the remaining hours of the day.”

Anneka Rice has poked fun at Channel 5‘s decision to axe Challege Anneka after just two episodes.
It was revealed on Tuesday (28 March) that the return o the show, which first aired in 1989, had pulled episode three of the reboot from its programming schedule this weekend.
The move comes after episode two, which was broadcast on Saturday (25 March), attracted less than one million viewers.
A spokesperson for Channel 5 said: “The first episode of Challenge Anneka was enjoyed by 1.25 million viewers, but Saturday evenings are always highly competitive, especially at this time of year.
“The public and critical reaction to Challenge Anneka’s return has been amazing and we have decided to preserve the remaining two shows and reschedule them soon.”
Following this, Rice shared her “thanks” to viewers who had tuned in, explaining: “We always knew we were on a ‘floating schedule’ so might be bumped off at any moment.

Ken Bruce has given his first interview since his exit from BBC Radio 2.
The veteran broadcaster, 72, left the station earlier this month, after hosting its mid-morning show for 31 years.
He is moving to commercial station Greatest Hits Radio, with a new show launching there on 3 April. Vernon Kay, 48, is stepping into Bruce’s shoes to host Radio 2’s mid-morning programme.
In February, Bruce revealed that BBC bosses had asked him to leave three weeks earlier than planned, instead of continuing until 24 March, when his contract ended.
Reports at the time suggested that this decision was made in an effort to stop him from publicising his new Greatest Hits show on Radio 2.
In a new interview with The Times, Bruce has now said of the enforced early exit: “I was annoyed because I thought, ‘I’m reasonable. I’m not being difficult. Neither were you…’ I think the idea...

BBC Radio 2 faces ‘cheating scandal’ after quiz contestant accused of ‘Googling’ answers live on air
Radio presenter Gary Davies has found himself in the middle of a scandal concerning the “Ten To The Top” game on his new Radio 2 show.
Furious listeners have accused one contestant of secretly using Google to help her answer questions while appearing on the show.
The new music quiz was launched after Ken Bruce recently left BBC Radio 2 after 40 years working for the broadcaster. He has moved to Bauer’s station Greatest Hits Radio where he will carry on his well-loved PopMaster quiz.
Former Top of The Pops presenter Gary Davies is temporarily covering the show until Vernon Kay will take over Radio 2’s mid-morning show in May.
Just days after the launch of Davies’ slot and his new pop quiz, on Thursday (9 March) listeners have theorised that one contestant, competing under the name “Shiela”, allegedly cheated after she finished the quiz with a perfect score of 65.

Ken Bruce uttered his final words on Radio 2 as he left his BBC show after 31 years.
On Friday (3 March), the DJ, who is 72, presented his last ever mid-morning programme for the corporation, where he has been employed for 45 years.
He urged his listened to simply “enjoy” the show as well as his song choices, saying there were no “hidden agendas” in his selections.
This was seemingly a nod to the reports that claimed that he was axed early by the BBC in efforts to prevent him from promoting his new show on Greatest Hits Radio.
After a show that saw emotional send-offs from long-time listeners and his fellow broadcasters, including Jeremy Vine, Bruce then had the tough task of signing off his last ever show.
Find updates from Bruce’s final ever Radio 2 show here.
He told his listeners: “Thanks to all who’ve sent any kind of message of congratulations or good riddance.

It’s a sad day for Radio 2 listeners. Today, Ken Bruce is leaving the mid-morning slot he’s occupied for three decades. Never a showy broadcaster – like Terry Wogan before him, he identifies as a shy man – the 72-year-old Scot was an avuncular anchor in the day. To hear that he had decided to leave came as a shock. The mood curdled when it transpired Radio 2 bosses had refused to let him work out his contract, insisting he get his slippers out from under the desk by lunchtime today.
“It’s entirely within the BBC’s right to ask me to step away a little early,” he told Radio 4’s Today programme. “But for the sake of 17 days, which was all that was remaining [on my contract], it seems a shame.” He pointed out that he’d stuck to an old-school work ethic that meant that “over the last 46 years, I haven...

Ken Bruce’s contract with BBC Radio 2 has been axed early in efforts to scupper promotion for his new show at Greatest Hits Radio, according to insiders.
In January, Bruce announced he would leave the corporation after 45 years to host a show on commercial rival, Greatest Hits Radio.
The veteran presenter, 72, has been on the BBC station since 1984, but told listeners in January: “I’ve done everything it is possible to do at Radio 2.”
In February, he then told his Twitter followers that, while he had intended to fulfil his contract to the end of March, the corporation had decided “it wants me to leave earlier” and his last show will be Friday 3 March.
The decision has been taken to stifle Bruce’s self-promotion ahead of him joining the Bauer-owned station from 3 April, according to sources who spoke to The Times.

Scott Mills has revealed that he had to cancel a holiday after being locked in his electric car for five hours.
The BBC Radio 2 DJ shared the unfortunate anecdote with listeners during Monday’s (27 February) instalment of his radio show.
Mills had set off on Friday, with his fiancé, Sam Vaughan, intending to spend the weekend together in Amsterdam.
However, a flat car battery meant that Mills and Vaughan were stuck inside his car near the BBC’s Wogan House studios.
“I’ve had quite the weekend,” he said. “I said goodbye to you on Friday. Me and Sam agreed to head to the airport in my electric car at 4pm. Flight is at 8pm.
“Get in the car. Car doesn’t start. In fact, nothing works. I go to get out of the car. I can’t get out. Sam tries his door. Nothing. Also cannot leave the car.

Paul O’Grady has expressed his “disappointment” with BBC Radio 2, saying “it’s not what it was”.
The broadcaster’s comments come after the news that veteran DJ Ken Bruce was leaving the station after 45 years to go to Greatest Hits Radio.
InJanuary, when Bruce announced his departure, former Radio 2 DJ Vanessa feltz accused the BBC of “ageism”.
Now, O’Grady, who left Radio 2 in 2021 after being asked to share his slot with comedian Rob Beckett, has explained the motivation behind his decision.
“I was disappointed, because I’m a great believer in continuity,” he told Metro.co.uk, adding: “If you go off for 13 weeks and somebody else comes on, the listeners don’t know when you’re back on.”
He continued: “Radio 2 has changed; it’s not what it was. They’re trying to aim for a much younger audience, which doesn’t make sense because you’ve got Radio 1.

News that Stephen King’s classic It is getting a prequel series on HBO Max has been met with a hilarious reaction from fans of a very different show.
Pennywise – the terrifying clown most recently portrayed in two films by Bill Skarsgard – is set to return to screens in a prequel series on HBO Max.
Welcome To Derry is based on King’s 1986 novel It and will be directed by Andy Muschietti who was behind 2017’s It and 2019’s It: Chapter Two.
The series is set in Derry, which King has called “Maine’s most haunted city”.
Its title, however, has attracted attention from fans of another Derry-set show: Derry Girls.
Fans were dismayed when Lisa McGee’s hit Channel 4 comedy Derry Girls came to an end with its critically acclaimed third season in 2022.

Vernon Kay has spoken out about his excitement ahead of taking over Ken Bruce’s morning slot on Radio 2.
Bruce, who has hosted on BBC radio for 45 years, announced his departure from the network in January.
After much speculation, Kay was revealed as Bruce’s replacement last week.
As a regular cover host on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Kay featured on Monday’s edition (27 February) of the programme to discuss his new role.

“Whatever channel you choose to listen to, whoever is on mid-mornings, it's the Ken Bruce slot.

I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has returned for a brand new series with a fresh bunch of contestants.
The ITV series is taking place in Wales, as opposed to Australia, for the second year running due to the pandemic
Proceedings kicked off last week with a bumper episode that saw broadcaster Richard Madeley and Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge led two teams in the first Bushtucker Trial. Madeley has since been forced to exit the series after he was taken to hospital as a “precaution” due to ill health.
While many viewers usually express sympathy for the contestants as they participate in these challenging trials, it’s worth remembering they’ve been paid good money to be on the show.
So, how much is each celebrity earning for their appearance in the reality series? The full amount haven’t been officially announced, but this year’s highest-paid star...

Idris Elba apologised to Rochelle Humes on This Morning after making a mistake about her husband, Marvin.

When talk turned to Elba’s DJing career, the Wire actor said: “The next gig’s Ibiza, man. I’m gonna be in Ibiza doing the closing.”
Kay jokingly replied: “Nice – we’re on our way!” to which Rochelle quipped: “We could have done this there.”
Here, Elba awkwardly said of Marvin: “I’ve DJ’d with Martin before, your husband.”
Realising his error, Elba said: “Martin... it’s Marvin,” with Rochelle replying: “Call him Martin, I prefer that! I Iove that, I’m telling him,...

Tributes are flooding in for EastEnders star June Brown, who has died aged 95, with Stephen Fry praising her “wonderful human qualities”.
Brown played the iconic Dot Cotton in the long running BBC soap opera for more than 30 years, and was much loved in UK entertainment circles.
She passed away peacefully on Sunday evening with her family by her side at her home in Surrey, England.
Actor and broadcaster Fry tweeted: “June Brown, amongst all her other wonderful human qualities and achievements, will be remembered as a tireless and fearless LGBT ally – especially during the darkest days of HIV/AIDS and Section 28 [legislation that banned ‘promotion of homosexuality’]… it was a privilege to know her.”
British actor and musician Martin Kemp, who appeared with Brown in EastEnders in the late 1990s and early 2002s, wrote on Twitter: “I was such a small part of your 35 years at EastEnders but you were a massive part of my time there.

Game Of Talents’ launch on Fox last week marked an important milestone for a format that is hoping to follow in the footsteps of The Masked Singer. Like its Korean counterpart, the entertainment show hails from a country not exactly known for being a formidable exporter of formats (Spain), and like The Masked Singer, distributor Fremantle hopes success on Fox can propel the show into an elite band of global hits.
The man tasked with making this happen is Rob Clark, Fremantle’s director of global entertainment, who has helped usher Game Of Talents from a Spanish pilot more than two years ago, to the bright lights of Fox on a Wednesday night. Clark’s career is steeped in entertainment hits, from working on iconic series including Wheel of Fortune and Blind Date, to building global juggernauts out of shows including Got Talent and The Apprentice.

ITV has confirmed that it is dusting off Family Fortunes after the entertainment show was last on British television in 2015.
Deadline first revealed in April that ITV was piloting the format in a lockdown environment with Fremantle label Thames, and now the game show, which is based on America’s Family Feud, will return for a 10-part series.
UK chef Gino D’Acampo will host, presiding over two families competing to win cash prizes by second-guessing the responses to a survey of the British public.
Vernon Kay hosted the UK show’s most recent iteration, All Star Family Fortunes, between 2006 and 2015, while Les Dennis and Bob Monkhouse were among the presenters of previous series.
Filming will take place on the new series later this summer. Family Fortunes was commissioned by Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s head of entertainment, and entertainment commissioner Joe Mace. Ash Whitehouse is the executive producer.

British broadcaster ITV is bringing back Play Your Cards Right, the classic gameshow that was originally adapted from U.S. format Card Sharks.
The show, which was famously hosted by Bruce Forsyth, who died in August 2017, is being piloted with The Friday Night Project and Chatty Man star Alan Carr hosting the non-tx ep. This comes after Carr’s golden handcuffs deal with rival Channel 4 ended earlier this year.
Play Your Cards Right, which started in 1980 and ran for 248 episodes across a number of iterations, follows two couples as they played a series of games. The host would begin with questions based on surveys of 100 people. The first couple would guess how many of the 100 answered the question a certain way and the other couple would have to guess whether the answer was higher or lower. Then the teams were handed a series of five cards and they had...

“Do you remember the guy who played that guy in that thing? His song was good wasn't it?”
The above is an example of a conversation regularly heard in our house. The only variants are that sometimes it was 'that girl from that thing', and a lot of the time the song was far from good.
Well sod it – I think we as a nation need to have more discussions about Craig McLachlan and Stefan Dennis. It's the only way our society will grow. So here are 12 songs from Soapland that weren't done by Kylie, Jason, or Kylie and Jason.

The Big Brother bond between Brian Dowling and Narinder Kaur seems to be unbreakable, with the latter set to be the presenter's bridesmaid today (July 30).
The pair took part in the second series of Big Brother back in 2001, and immediately became inseparable. They were mostly seen gossiping about their fellow housemates - including Amma Antwi-Agyei and Dean O'Loughlin - and even developed nicknames and facial expressions to describe the poor unsuspecting contestants.
Dowling is believed to be holding his wedding with long-term partner Arthur Gourounlian in a country house just outside Dublin, after the couple legally tied the knot in London a few months ago.
Explaining his decision and concerns over the same-sex marriage vote in Ireland, the TV presenter said: "We did it in London as we didn't know how the law would go in Ireland. We wanted to make sure we got it right.

Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?
Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.
Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.
The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?
As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

Vernon Kay's All Star Family Fortunes will be missing from the schedules for a while, as ITV plans to put the show on an extended break.
The celebrity spin-off of the popular format was revived in 2006 and recently completed its 12th series, with an average of 3.3 million viewers tuning in over the ten episodes.
Broadcast reports that the show is unlikely to be seen on-screen again until late 2016 at the earliest, with a further delay until 2017 also said to be a possibility.

The Towie star is quizzed by an inquisitive Keith, who inquires: "Didn't you once have a romantic entanglement with the King of Reem - Joey Essex?"
A sheepish Wright replies with a resounding: "No!"
But Keith presses on regardless before producing photographic evidence, saying: "You did, we've got a picture [the picture appears on screen]… What's going on there then?
"You just blowing in his mouth? Using him like a whistle?"
Covering her face with her hands in embarrassment, Wright replies: "You've absolutely killed me! I might as well walk out of the building right now!"
Keith persists: "Well tell us what was going on there?"
"That was about 5 years ago and it was just a really random kiss, and lets not even talk about that - what's next?" Wright replies, keen to move the subject on.

Vernon Kay has revealed that he would "seriously consider" taking part in Strictly Come Dancing.
The presenter told Loose Women that he already feels like part of the family as he's on set so often with wife Tess Daly, who co-hosts the Saturday night show with Claudia Winkleman.
He said: "If they asked me, I would seriously consider it."
He added that he has "never, ever had one conversation" about joining the show, explaining: "I think it's because I'm there on a regular basis. They must feel like I'm part of the family.
"It's been 11, 12 years that they've been doing it and I'm always down there causing a nuisance. It's such a good show."
Kay also revealed that he likes to recreate Strictly at home with his daughters Phoebe and Amber when Daly is out at work.
"It's quite nice that we know when Strictly Come Dancing is [scheduled]," he said.

Scott Mills delivered one of Strictly Come Dancing's barmiest-ever routines tonight, performing as a lobster for a samba to 'Under The Sea'.
Dancing to the Little Mermaid track as part of Movies Week, he was compared to a "lobster on acid" by Craig Revel Horwood.
"I can't really think of any other words to describe it to be honest," added Horwood.
Len Goodman joked: "There was something fishy about the technique, but I've seen more life in a kipper."
Digital Spy's Entertainment Editor Catriona Wightman suggested in her live blog that Mills's chest shimmys made him look like he needed "medical attention".
However, thanks to some generous marking from guest fifth judge Donny Osmond, Mills avoided being at the bottom of the leaderboard and improved on his previous scores with a total of 25.
He also won over a selection of new fans with a largely enthusiastic response to the routine on Twitter.

After seven years on air, HBO's sexy, campy, vampy drama is taking its final bow tonight. The focus in the last instalment is on the tortured relationship between Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Sookie (Anna Paquin), as the terminally ill vampire asks the telepathic waitress to help him die - and simultaneously rid herself of her powers.
But there's also a shotgun wedding, a few grizzly ends and - as ever - several searing zingers from the show's finest asset: the brutal, delightful Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten).
Under the Dome: Channel 5, 10pm
The second series of the tense drama continues tonight, as ominously red acid rain starts to fall on the trapped residents of Chester's Mill.
With supplies running low, Big Jim (Dean Norris, above) decides to count the town's population to better understand how long they can survive - while mysterious emails start arriving on everyone's smartphones.
