You would think that Manu tribe member Wendy Diaz had enough to worry about after she injured her ankle last week during a reward challenge on “Survivor: Edge of Extinction.” But she was more concerned about the fate of the reward – namely a clutch of chickens. But while Dan “The Wardog” DaSilva was practically smacking his lips at the prospect that meat might be in reach, Wendy was plotting to save the poultry’s necks. “The players signed up for this game, not the chickens, so why should they be penalized,” Wendy explained, which is a bit odd since she is neither a vegetarian nor a vegan and normally eats chicken back home. We must invoke another bird — cuckoo!

Fans of "Survivor" are in agreement: The Tribal Council that took place near the start of the "Survivor: Second Chance" season finale was one of the best of all time. Kimmi Kappenberg's ouster was monumental in that she at first received no votes, as Kelley Wentworth and Jeremy Collins both played hidden immunity idols that canceled them all out. Kimmi was eventually eliminated in a roundtable group discussion, as the revote ended in a deadlock. On the red carpet at Wednesday's finale, Kelley, Keith Nale and Kimmi discuss that Tribal Council and the show's legacy to Gold Derby. Watch our full interviews below. -Break- Jeremy Collins ('Survivor') reveals secrets to winning the $1 million prize (Video) "It's still a blur," Kelley says about that one-of-a-kind Tribal Council. Survivor: Second Chance season finale recap “Lie, Cheat and Steal,” Season 31, Episode 14 (original airdate Dec. 16): It was the most unpredictable finale in Survivor history, one where you’d be Ok with a couple of the finalists walking away with the million (as long as it wasn’t Abi). The episode starts with Tasha, Jeremy, Keith, Spencer, Wentworth and Kimmi vying for a spot in the final three. It’s been an amazing season filled with the best mix of talent, class and unusual drama (Terry’s emergency exit, Joe collapsing and Abi just being Abi). There are no easy seasons of Survivor. From the harsh conditions to the big personalities, the experience is simultaneously exhilarating and miserable for the contestants. But this season took it to the next level. All 20 contestants had played the game before, but none had won. The result: a hungry cast who was willing to make big moves and stab each other in the face to win the million dollars. There was strategy and double dealing, and it was delicious to watch. And there was a lot at stake: the winner would become the show's 30th victor in 31 seasons. (Sandra Diaz-Twine has won the game twice.

CBS's "Survivor: Cambodia" -- aka Season 31, aka "Second Chance" -- is ending its fantastic run on Wednesday, December 16, with a two-hour finale and one-hour reunion show (where probably only Spencer and maybe two other people will be allowed to speak). At the end of the penultimate episode, Jeff Probst teased that, during the finale, something would happen for the first time in 31 seasons. What is it? We have a guess, but first here's more from Jeff to Entertainment Weekly:
Okay, six players left as we head to the finale/reunion. What can you tell us about both next Wednesday night?
"The finale is ... phenomenal. Historic. Unpredictable. And ultimately satisfying. I think it will cap off, in grand fashion, what most fans will regard as one of — if not The greatest season of Survivor. I have absolutely loved the way this group played. I am proud and impressed by the level...

Survivor: Second Chance recap “Villains Have More Fun,” Season 31, Episode 13 (original airdate Dec. 9): It’s day 33 and only seven are left. Jeremy and Spencer voted with the gals last Tribal Council and took out Joe. While Joe warned them of a potentially all-girl alliance (Tasha, Abi, Kelley and Kimmi), they opted to get rid of the person who they thought was their biggest threat, Joe. Now, Spencer and Jeremy are second guessing that move. Abi sees Joe’s departure as “good riddance.” Kelley thinks it evens the playing field, believing they now all have an equal shot at … Continue reading →

Don't feel bad for Joe Anglim.
When Survivor returns on Wednesday night, he'll be noticeably absent during the challenges. The rest of the tribe correctly determined that he was a threat to win the whole game and voted him out on day 31.
But Anglim, 27, will be just fine.
"Joe is athletic," host Jeff Probst told People earlier this season. "Joe is good-looking. Women want to date Joe; men wish they were Joe. He's got a lot of skills that make him good at life, but a threat at Survivor"
Case in point: Anglim competed so hard in an immunity challenge that he passed out.

Disclaimer: Stephen Fishbach has been People's resident Survivor blogger for years. He's quite popular around here.
We were excited when he was named as a possible contestant. We were thrilled when he made the final cast of the show. We were ecstatic – and a little bit surprised, if we're being perfectly honest – when he made it through the first tribal council without getting voted off.
As it turned out, Fishbach did better than anyone expected, forming solid alliances and lasting 29 days before being voted out.
Survivor is unpredictable, and Fishbach was eliminated after playing his "steal the vote" advantage? Why?...

"Survivor" Season 31 (yes, can you believe it?) is now airing, and "Survivor: Second Chance" is one of the best competitions CBS has ever aired. Maybe it's the returning players, all "losers" hungry for a win, or the many twists that have only improved the gameplay and have yet to feel like desperate gimmicks. It's rare to have so many players pushing to win, with very different strategies, and we can't wait to see who ends up the sole survivor of "Survivor: Cambodia."
Who will it be?
Well, the edits certainly give us some hints. For example, we could've told you it wouldn't be Kelly Wiglesworth even before she was eliminated in Episode 9, since she had almost no screen time, including confessionals. Spencer Bledsoe is still the confessional king. The producers have him narrating the season, like this is his story and everyone else is a supporting player. Then again,...

Tonight's episode, kicked off with conversation footage. Andrew talked to Jeremy about possibly voting off Ciera or Kelly Wentworth. Meanwhile, Ciera suggested to Steven Fishbach that they vote out Joe. From there, they showed Rewards Challenge footage. It was a crate stacking challenge. They were split into two teams for this. And Keith, Ciera, Wiglesworth, Wentworth, Joe and Kimmi's team won it for a sweet goodies at Survivor Cafe prize. Next, Steven tried to suggested to Andrew that Joe get voted out after worrying he was bonding with an alliance. Andrew didn't seem too convinced. After all that, they showed Immunity Challenge footage. It was an endurance challenge where they had to balance a ball on a disk, and Joe pulled out the win for a 2nd consecutive time! Steven's name came up as a target from Joe after finding out Steven was plotting to get him voted out.

For a show in its 31st season, Survivor has managed to keep things remarkably fresh and new.
A lot of the credit goes to host Jeff Probst and the producers, who throw in a liberal amount of twists and turns so that contestants never truly know what's coming. Over the years, we've seen tribal swaps, fake merges, hidden immunity idols and double eliminations. (We're going to pretend that Redemption Island and the outcast twist never happened.)
But sometimes, the twists are not masterminded by the producers. Contestants have come up with ingenious strategies to change the game.

Rumor has it that there was a contestant named Monica Padilla on this season of Survivor – although it's not surprising if you didn't notice.
For whatever reason, the editors of Survivor Cambodia: Second Chance chose to hide her for much of the season, giving her hardly any airtime. When she finally did get some confessionals on Episode 5, she went home.
It was a surprising lack of character development for a smart contestant who could have been lethal. Before the season began, several of this season's contestants told People that they were afraid that Padilla would aggressively walk away with the game.

A new "Survivor" champ has been crowned and the winner is ... Mike Holloway! The Texas oil driller walked away with the million dollar check during the landmark 30th season of "Survivor: Worlds Apart," and after that finale, there was no doubt that the 38-year-old would take home the top prize. This season, the competitors were divided into tribes based on their social class: white collar, blue collar and no collar. Holloway was a member of the blue collar tribe, Escameca, ending up in the top three with Carolyn Rivera and Will Sims. He beat out his competition in all three challenges and got some help from an unexpected guest ... his mom! Congrats on being the Sole Survivor, Mike! Besides crowning a winner, host Jeff Probst also revealed the cast of season 31 of the hit series, which will feature fan-favorites from previous seasons of the show. The second UK season of Bear Grylls' latest survival reality series, "The Island," is generating outrage after contestants have slaughtered three pigs for food and killed an endangered crocodile, having confused it with a more common caiman. An American version of the show will air on NBC this summer, debuting May 25. Reports say that PETA actually wants Grylls and the show's producers to be arrested for these actions. "Killing animals is a cheap ratings ploy and sends an especially harmful message to young viewers, who are greatly influenced by what they see on TV. Bear Grylls and the producers should be prosecuted. Fame doesn't mean immunity," the organization said in a statement. Most interesting, however, is that the animals were placed on the island by producers to be killed. (The show is filmed in the Pearl Islands off the coast of Panama.) On Channel 4's web site for the episode,...

Rather than selecting returning players unilaterally and listening to fans complain about the latest return for Rupert or a confusing return for a castaway even superfans don't remember, "Survivor" has left the decision somewhat up to America to determine the 20 castaways for Season 31. On Wednesday (May 6) at the end of the latest episode of the less-than-lackluster "Survivor: Worlds Apart," CBS formally announced what had long been rumored across the Interwebs. There are 32 candidates up for the "Second Chance" season. As the word "second" implies, this season will only be open to one-time former players who didn't win, so all of your Hantzes and Ruperts are out. Thank God. Instead, this group of 32 includes contestants going back to original "Survivor: Borneo" runner-up Kelly Wigglesworth. And then there are five candidates from the current season, including two who haven't been eliminated yet, which is either an annoying spoiler or not, but I'm...

In its 30 seasons, Survivor has worked hard to keep things fresh.

“Survivor” has made many changes to its game over the past 30 seasons. Those range from the introduction of the hidden immunity idol to twists such as Redemption Island. The CBS show has cast the same people three or four times, and it has cast people related to returning players. Now, “Survivor” is about to make its most dramatic casting change in its history: allowing viewers to vote for returning "Survivor" players for one of the two seasons that will air next year. This takes the show farther down a dangerous path than it has ever gone before. Here’s how it will work. There is a pool of 40 returning "Survivor" contestants, identified by a “Survivor” spoiler known as Redmond on Twitter, who will be narrowed in half by viewer votes. They include season-one players such as Kelly Wiglesworth and Greg Buis; season two’s Jeff Varner and Kimmi Kappenberg; and...
