- Young Man Kang directed several feature films and over 15 web series and many short films. All feature films have been released on VOD in Netflix and Amazon and DVD in the US, and have sold in 15 countries. He has a total of 43 awards from a number of film festivals and webfests. Young Man Kang collaborated with fellow film "Avatar" alumni, Just Cause 3D, on his "4D Experience" Project. Based upon Goethe's novel "The Sorrows of Young Werther", "Lotte Haus" is the first international web series co-production between South Korea and Germany, especially with Hessian producers. Secret roles play the Lotte World Tower in Seoul and the Lottehaus in Wetzlar. "Lotte Haus" won 15 awards and selected over 35 film festivals. He received a medal from the mayor of Marseille, France for excellence in culture promotion France-Korea. - Young Man Kang studied fine arts at Hong-ik University in Seoul, Korea. In 1994, Kang moved to New York City where he studied film at The New School. In 1996, Kang moved to Los Angeles and continued his film career working as a director for a television commercial production company. In addition to his fifty-plus commercial credits, Young's 1999 claymation short entitled 'Image of Korea' was released on DVD by Quickband/Warner Brothers.
Between 2000 and 2010, Kang directed five feature films and a documentary. His feature debut, "Cupid's Mistake," was allegedly made with an invisible budget of $980 US (Guinness World Record) and held theatrical screenings in Los Angeles & New York City.
Two of his films have had a theatrical release in the US. All of his feature films have been released on DVD in the US, and have sold over 15 countries so far.
With his six films and three web series, Kang has received a total of 13 awards at a number of film festivals including the epic film entitled "The Last Eve", Kang's fifth feature, has won the "Best Action Feature Film Award" at the 2005 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. 'The Last Eve' was rated one of the '10 Best Unseen Films Of 2005' and received Five Stars by 'Film Threat.'
Director Young Man Kang collaborated with fellow Avatar (director: James Cameron) alumni, Just Cause 3d, on his 4d Experience Project (client Hyundai). The 4d Experience was one of the first in the world to use a 4D 5G grandeur theater ad in 2010.
In 2012, Kang has been working on a documentary feature film 'Innocence Abandoned:Street Kids of Haiti' for 10 years. An epic saga project since 2001, and the documentary has since gone onto received the Monaco Charity Film Festival 2013 Human Interest Award.
A web series 'Kimchi Warrior' the Korean version of Popeye (TM), a martial arts comedy that has gained international recognition and won 3 awards Best Animated Series, Best Cinematography and Best score at LA Web Fest 2014. 'AREX Airport Railroad won an award at LAWEBFEST 2016. 'Doppelganger' received two award nominations at Melbourne WebFest 2016 and won Best Independent Production Foreign Series Award at Roma Webfest 2016.
